Feng Hei Lang gaped at her. "Uh...Master Xue...did you just say roll on the ground?"
Xue nodded. "Did you not hear me? I said roll!" She waved her hand and immense pressure fell onto Feng Hei Lang.
She gritted her teeth, but the force pushed her to the ground. Xue waved her arm and said once more, "Roll."
Feng Hei Lang braced herself and started rolling back and forth on the ground. 'Ouch! The ground is really hard! What's the point of this anyways?!'
Xue waved her hand and a fan appeared. With a swish, she hit Feng Hei Lang's back with it. "Not like that! You have to do it back and forth, then sideways. Restart!"
Feng Hei Lag almost whimpered. 'That fan hurts so much! Is it like a secret blade of something? And WHY DOES IT MATTER WHICH WAY I'M ROLLING?!'
She followed Xue's instructions until she heard Headmaster Zhong Qiu walk over. Feng Hei Lang paused to see what he was doing.
When she paused, Xue slapped her on the back again. "I didn't say to stop! Keep going!"
Feng Hei Lang hissed between her teeth. 'You damn witch! I'll get you back for this! Everything you hit me, I'll pay you back tenfolds!'
She resumed her rolling and Xue turned to Headmaster Zhong Qiu. "What is it?"
He bowed. "Master, I shall take my leave now. Please train Student Hei Lang well."
Xue flipped open the fan and rolled her eyes. "Yes yes, now hurry along now."
Headmaster Zhong Qiu exited the cave, leaving Feng Hei Lang all alone with Xue.
She panted as sweat trickled down her forehead. Feng Hei Lang finished and sat up. "Xue, I've finished."
That earned another slap with the fan. Xue frowned. "I didn't say to call me Xue. Call me Master, or Master Xue."
Feng Hei Lang took a deep breath to calm herself from the rage that was building up inside of herself. "...Yes Master Xue."
Xue smiled and pointed to the exit. "Get me food. Anything. Get back here as soon as possible."
Feng Hei Lang blinked. Once. Twice. "Sorry? Food?"
Xue nodded and yawned. "Yes, food! How many times do I have to repeat myself?"
"But...I don't have that many tallies to spare!"
She slapped Feng Hei Lang once more. "You don't have that many, but you still got enough! Give me food!"
Feng Hei Lang gritted her teeth and bowed. "Master! I do not have enough tallies to feed both you, myself, and my mind link! I am only a Bronze Rank Disciple!"
Xue raised the fan up to hit her, but paused. "Mind Link beast? And you're a Bronze Rank Disciple?"
Feng Hei Lang braced herself for the hit. "Yes, Master."
"Can I see your Mind Link beast?"
Xing appeared as Feng Hei Lang used [Shadow Manipulation] to pull him out. He yawned and sneezed as he stretched.
Xue's eyes widened. "Amazing...an ancient Night Dragon! Where did you get him?!"
Feng Hei Lang flinched. "I...I found his egg in a forest, underneath a boulder."
Xue paced around Xing, looking at him for all angles. "Absolutely splendid...One hasn't been seen in many centuries!"
Xing tilted his head curiously and let out a little "Rawr!"
Xue laughed. "Alright, Student Hei Lang. You don't have to buy me food today. I'll be teaching you my martial art technique! It's called [Icy Demon]. I'll show you the movement technique first. It will be useful for dodging strikes. Although it looks simple, it is very hard to follow, as most of the time, foxes can only see afterimages."
She simply walked five steps forward, but to Feng Hei Lang, it seemed like she was gliding.
Feng Hei Lang immediately heard her system beep.
[Would you like to learn [Flashing Steps] for 10 Skill Credits?]
[Yes/No]
She smiled. 'Although I'm saving Skill Credits for [Starfall], I think getting this would be better... It's a unique martial art skill! And Xing can use [Starfall] anyways!'
Feng Hei Lang clicked on "Yes" and information flooded into her brain. 'Hmm...So all of the movements are used to produce afterimages to trick the opponent! How intriguing!'
Xue turned back to her. "Try it. You should at least know the first step after seeing it once."
Feng Hei Lang smirked and dipped her head. "Yes, Master." She quickly activated [Dash] and [Flashing Steps] together. 'With these two, it'll almost be impossible to catch me!'
She ran across the cave, leaving bursts of wind in her trail.
Xue had a surprised expression on her face. Then, it quickly turned to amusement. "Well then, not bad. Try to dodge this!"
She started waving her arms, and blades of ice shot towards her.
Feng Hei Lang let out a noise. 'EEK! Got to dodge everything!' She ducked under the first one, then jumped over the second one. On the third one, she did a swift roll. Immediately after the roll, she bounced back on her feet. However, on the fourth one, it hit her and Feng Hei Lang fell to the floor. She groaned in pain.
Xue walked over and looked down on her. "Pretty good for a first try. And that is also why I told you to roll. Did you see that when you dodged the third blade, your roll was very smooth? Everything I tell you to do has a reason." She held up a hand so that Feng Hei Lang could stand.
Feng Hei Lang took her hand and winced at the cut on her leg.
Xue yawned and took out her fan once more. "Now, where were we? Oh yeah, get me some food."
