Ariel flew to the gate after Govad left the scene with a dagger in his hand. The red wings were smooth and fast even though he was screaming to himself in his mind to stop. His other hope was that no one was coming for him.
But he knew Samiel would never leave him in danger.
Ariel did not hesitate because she knew her time was over. She needed to leave Panthalassa before all hell broke loose. Unfortunately, she did not know that the cloak placed over the battlefield by Ophiel was broken.
He had gained enough power to leave his imprisonment. It would be a waste to keep wasting it on Ariel. Her work was done. She was useless. And if she could not survive, she was not worthy of being his offspring.
When Ariel reached the gate, the Guardians of Farallon rose in the water. The cold eyes of the merpeople soldiers were chilled like ice as they looked at Ariel. She hesitated for a moment before firming her resolve.
