Capítulo 88: Heading Deeper
Today I ride in style! Picture a fancy and glamourous 6 horses carriage. You have a mental image of how they are all linked together? Now replace the leather straps with vines. Then replace the horses with wyverns. After that replace the normal whip with a thorny one that slaps them real hard whenever they are out of line.
At first, they have trouble hovering in place and keep getting entangled with one another. But I smile at them and promise them an atrocious death should they keep messing around. That gets them real quiet and motivated fast.
Once more I am glad about that ability of mine. Anyone calling this animal cruelty? They legit tried eating me a little while ago. They 100% deserve this.
Rule number one of trying to eat another living being. Make sure it is weaker than you. Otherwise, the other party gets really pissed and you get in trouble.
It takes a little while, but I manage to get them to have basic coordination. With the way they are all attached they have no hopes of running away quickly. To top it off I put a chair as the finishing touch. For that, I use magic to shape it. Let's just say the end result looks very much like the throne in my home.
Epic as hell! Plus I look super classy. What happened to the fountain of blood dripping everywhere? Well, turns out that my magical clothes are waterproof. Or should it be called bloodproof in such a case? Not sure. In any case, I look dashing.
[Onward to infinity and beyond!]
And thus we depart. Where are we going? Well, deeper in the mountains. I may as well explore a bit while I am here. Judging by the number of wyverns I doubt there is anything stronger in the area. Otherwise, they wouldn't be so rampant.
I do keep track of the status of my beasts. Mostly to check if they start panicking once they enter a new territory. They seem pretty slow thinkers but if there is a danger zone, they will probably know about it. Quite like how they started running away from me. At least I'm hoping anyway.
The deeper we go the rockier the area. We are surrounded by steep cliffs. The area looks like a canyon. From time to time we stop to take a small break. The good thing is I can actually recharge my mana on the go while sitting.
We encounter many wyverns. A few seem not to have witnessed the scene before and approach us, but they get killed. That sends a clear signal to the others.
Well, I think the fact that I have some of their brethren already submitting to me helps too. I have developed a trick for it. Every time they come even nearby, I bellow furiously.
[Who's your daddy!]
It has become my catchphrase in this place. After a while, they seem to finally understand that that sound means death. The fun part is there is a lot of echoes here. In such a manner after every call of mine, there is the daddy part echoing over and over.
At some point, my rides become quite listless. Then I kinda remember that it's been a while since they've eaten anything. What do wyverns even eat? Apparently, giant rodents that are all over the place here.
They often disappear in small holes in the walls and ground. These little ones eat all kinds of bugs, random creatures, and white flowers that grow in the stone. The latter is what gets them eaten by the wyverns.
My guess is it's a magical flower that has awesome properties. After all, the rodents die by the dozen trying to steal it. From time to time one will succeed. Then it rushes underground. Not long afterward sounds of fighting will erupt.
This is really sad. The rat that risked his life to get a treasure only to have stolen from him. So yeah, I let my wyverns eat a few of these.
Was I feeling sympathetic a few moments ago? Well, yes, but actually no. I'm not going to bother about the circle of life. My only priority is that I myself don't become part of it. I wish to live.
Can't kick the bucket before I meet my friend again. That is a very undefined timeframe, but eh he's a tree. We keep going. I have a simple trick not to lose my bearings. I keep going away from Yggdrasil. This way I'll just be able to backtrack and I'll be fine.
I'm not sure myself how long I'll keep at this. I really just want this trip not to be in vain. Could you believe me coming back triumphant home? Then would start the tale of my glorious adventures. Then while my disciple would be crowding around me I would go:
So, the roc got spooked like a dumbass.
I fell.
I came back.
The End.
Most boring story of all time.
I'm sure they would still clap and all but that's not the issue. I myself would have an issue with it. After all that month flying I just spent, it would take me an eternity on foot. For once I would be able to almost literally use the sentence one eternity later.
I keep a lookout for anything that looks out of the norm but without success. The landscape is always the same. To my eyes at least. I bet the creatures here are able to maneuver here and recognize everything.
We keep heading deeper. Wyverns and more wyverns. The good thing is they are all scared of me. Besides a few suicidal ones I never even have to do anything. Hell one even gets killed by crashing into the other 6 wyverns.
It was compromising their safety, so they got rid of it without an afterthought. That's when something finally appears. Instead of the usual dead rock, there is what looks like an oasis.
There is a pond and some greenery. Also tons of these white flowers. What?! The wyverns instantly rush toward it. I guess they must be thirsty. Understandable.
Or that's what I think at first. That's when it appears. Oh crap.
Am I fucked?!
