Capítulo 7: CHAPTER VI

Avoiding his mother's question about the bandaged arm, Aidan left earlier than usual. Last night, Josh was uncomfortably silent. In fact, when Uncle Zac treated the wound on his arm, Josh looked at him with a "don't say anything" look. They also did not discuss how to return the stolen jewelries.

Although Aidan managed to sneak back into the room last night at two o'clock in the morning, just before the rain fell, he could not sleep well and was determined to urge Josh about the creature they had seen last night. However, until almost lunch, Aidan did not meet with his best friend. Aidan sits nervously, unable to follow the teacher's explanation. Several times, he checks his cellphone under the table. Since morning, he sent Josh a text message, to no replies.

Again and again Aidan glances at clock in the wall in front of the class, looking forward to getting out and looking for Josh. The flat and boring voice from Miss Silver makes him even more nervous. His feet move, his fingers taps on the open book, and he repeatedly changes his sitting position. The closer to lunch, the more openly Aidan shows his anxiety. He does not realize that several times Miss Silver glances at him.

Finally, the lunchtime bell rings throughout the classroom. Aidan quickly grabs his backpack and heads for the exit. When it seems freedom is in sight, Miss Silver calls out to him. With a long sigh, he stops and turns toward Miss Silver who is standing beside her desk.

"Mr. Reid," Miss Silver calls.

"Yeah?" Aidan answers, trying his best to sound enthusiastic.

"Are you okay?"

Aidan tries to guess the direction of this conversation. During the two months Miss Silver taught in his class, she never called her. Aidan also feels he is not a problem student in the class. "Yes, I'm fine," he replies. He really feels like he wants to get out of the room immediately.

"I don't think so, Mr. Reid." Miss Silver looks at Aidan's bandaged arm. "I have noticed that you looked nervous and unfocused."

Even if he wasn't thinking about the creature last night and Josh who was somewhere, Miss Silver's class is still boring. All students prefer to think about something or other than the lesson she delivers. "I'm fine, believe me," Aidan says.

Miss Silver looks back at Aidan's bandaged arm. "What about your arm? Something happened? "

Goddamn it, Aidan thinks. What do you want, woman. "Just an accident, no big deal."

Miss Silver still looks at him suspiciously. "You are a senior student, Mr. Reid. Soon, you will graduate. I suggest you not doing stupid things."

Aidan does like what like what he just heard. He was about to argue when his cellphone in his pocket vibrates. He immediately takes it and turns it on. On the screen, written a short message from Josh: "Where are you? I'll wait under the usual tree. "

Finally, this jerk shows up, Aidan grumbles softly.

"Yes?" Miss Silver looks at him. "You said something, Mr. Reid?"

"Oh, no," Aidan answers quickly. "Miss Silver, I'm really fine. Is there anything else? Mmm... I really need to leave now."

Miss Silver walks to her seat, from where she looks at Aidan. "Nothing, for now. I just hope you don't get involved in stupid and dangerous things, Mr. Reid. Please leave."

"Thank you," says Aidan who immediately bursts out of the room. He traces the corridor, heading straight for the exit. He runs toward the tree that Josh meant. Josh's tall figure is sitting alone there. The teenager turns and waves at Aidan.

Aidan immediately sits next to him. "Where have you been?" he says half-snapped.
