Jason's expression sank, and then turned grim when he read that line. 'That thing in the tank was a man?' Jason leaned back in his chair as he digested that first piece of information. 'It did not look very human… Hm… Is its side effect?'

He could not help but compare it to his Gramps. After all, the old coot had a tail and dense muscles as his Power. 'Is that related to this research? Is Gramps somehow descended from a test subject?' The whole thing sent Jason's mind into a spin. 

The only problem with that theory that he could see so far was that it did not explain some other Powers. Unless there were beasts out there that could spew fire or control metal. Jason trembled at that thought. The things he had dealt with so far had been bad enough. He did not even want to consider the possibility of wildlife with Powers.
