Boy's dormitory | 14th September 1988 | 7 AM
Charlus quickly wrote down a reply.
"Respected Nicholas Flamel,
This is Charlus Potter. I am very happy that you are indeed the person that saved me. I would like to meet you immediately, even if that means skipping the entire year of school. However, I am not sure my godfather will agree with letting me leave the school to see someone who is simply claiming to be Nicholas Flamel. I hope that you can come up with a way to convince him.
Yours,
Charlus Potter"
After writing the letter, Charlus immediately got his wand out. If what Nicholas Flamel said was true, as long as he took out his bracelet, he would be able to perform magic. He brought his hand near the bracelet and held it. The bracelet easily came off.
The immediate second the bracelet came off, Charlus felt like a huge load was released off his shoulders. He felt free. He felt like he could run a marathon. This feeling was not shared by everyone.
The energy in Charlus' body was cooped up for almost 3 years so when it released, for a split second, every magical being in the vicinity felt that their magic was suppressed by the aloof magic of Charlus.
Charlus was oblivious about this and decided that he had to try out some spells. Unfortunately, the first spell that came to his mind was the spell that Fleur taught them - Incendio. Charlus did what he normally did every time - he called to the magic in his body and led it out, and this magic came out unhindered.
"Incendio."
A huge ball of flames came out of Charlus' wand and Charlus panicked. He dropped the wand and the magic that was powering the flames vanished. The ball of flames vanished, but the heat still lingered in the room.
All of Charlus' roommates had woken up by them. They were first startled by the sudden pressure on their body. Then they experienced the tremendous heat.
"What's going on Charlus?"
Henri asked Charlus.
"I don't know. I tried to cast Incendio and this happened."
"Who the hell casts a fire spell in a wooden building?! You woke all of us up."
The others also scolded Charlus. Then Charlus suddenly remembered that he didn't deliver the letter to Nicholas Flamel yet.
"One minute." He said to his friends.
He rushed to his desk and handed the letter to Ronko. Then he came back to his friends.
"Continue."

Flamel Manor | 14th September 1988 | 8 AM
Nicholas Flamel had read the letter from Charlus and started writing a letter of his own, this one to Madame Maxime.
Headmistress of Beauxbatons,
I am Nicholas Flamel. I wish to have one of your fourth-year students study under me for 3 months. To select this student, I will be sending a test for everyone to write along with this letter. I will personally grade the test and select the student. The test papers are attached. I hope that you agree with my seemingly unreasonable demand. I will see to it that the student's education in other fields will not be hindered.
Thanking you,
Nicholas Flamel
______
To say that Madame Maxime was shocked was an understatement. She had never heard of this happening before in her entire life. Nicholas Flamel was the most prestigious alchemist known to mankind. To study under him would be considered an honour everywhere in the world.
Madame Maxime decided to cancel all the classes for the day on account of the mysterious pressure that impacted students and teachers alike. Then she scheduled the test for the fourth years at 11 AM, instead of their duelling class.
______
Everyone was happy when they heard that herbology was cancelled. Who would say no to a free period? They just loitered around till 11. When they got to the duelling class, they all were surprised to see Madame Maxime along with their professor.
"Today, you will not have Duelling class. You will have a one hour written test. I will pass along the papers. After that, you will have the rest of the day free. Keep in mind that if you score well, you can meet the famous alchemist Nicholas Flamel."
Charlus was surprised. He had sent in his reply that morning and Nicholas Flamel had acted the very same day. Charlus was determined to score well on the test.
Everyone got ready and started the test. When they received the test, everyone except select people was confused. The test was on alchemy, which wasn't covered properly in their classes.
Only two people seriously did the test while the rest immediately gave up. When they were done, Madame Maxime took all their papers and put them in an envelope. She then gave it to an owl that was waiting for her. It was the same owl that delivered the letter from Nicholas Flamel.
"I believe your results will arrive tomorrow. The results will be hanged on the billboard in your duelling classroom. Have a great day."
Madame Maxime left the room and a serious discussion erupted.
"Meeting Nicholas Flamel?! That's a once in a lifetime opportunity."
"I don't think I did well. I didn't understand most of the questions."
Everyone was discussing the paper. Everyone except Charlus' friends. They were more interested in the story about Charlus almost burning his room mates to death.
