__________
The Black Mansion was the official residence of Lord Black. Sirius chose this humongous mansion to host the gathering of the order.
However, the Blacks had a twisted sense of luxury. They decorated the five floored mansion with innumerable dark artefacts. Sirius had pointed out the danger and risk in letting children into the mansion, so Dumbledore and Sirius, along with Tonky, cleaned up the entire mansion.
After every dark artefact was destroyed, Tonky cleaned the Mansion for human habitation. The previous occupant of the Black Mansion was Sirius' grandfather, Arcturus Black. He was the reason Sirius wasn't kicked out of the family - only the lord of the family could kick members out. Since Sirius hadn't fled to a muggle's house, but the pureblooded Potters' house; and since it was very unpredictable that the heir would be safe, Arcturus Black let Sirius stay so that the family would pass on to a member of the main family line.
The mansion was huge. There were three floors and a dungeon below the ground. Once someone entered the mansion through the great doors, they would enter the great hall and notice the grand staircases go up for all five floors. In the middle of the two staircases was the crest of the Black Family.
There was a skull drawn on the top, and below it was an arm with a sword raised victoriously. Below the arm, three black crows were drawn, symbols of bad omens, increasing wealth, and death. There were three crows as that signified that good would happen to the person who saw three crows. Below the crest, boldly written, was the motto of the family - Toujours Pur. Always Pure.
The two openings beside the staircases converged into a large hallway. The hallway had a huge entrance to the right and a smaller one to the left. The one on the right led to a huge dining hall, while the one on the left led to a similar, but less lavish dining hall. The dining hall on the left was for people of lesser status, such as commoners. To signify this, the dining hall was a step lower than the dining hall on the right of the hallway. The dining halls were decorated with tapestries of the Blacks' achievements in battle. All the tableware was silver, and the plates were made of china.
At the end of the hallway was the entrance to the dungeons. In the dungeons, the kitchen and the temporary prison was placed. The kitchen was made to be operated purely by house-elves, and as for the dungeon, it was called temporary for one reason. The Blacks actually had their own prison. It was in an undisclosed location under the fidelius. The fidelius had been broken after the death of the previous lord though, but the location was charmed such that the secret could only be held by two people - the Lord and his heir.
The first floor only had three rooms. Since the hall had to be grand, it took some space out of the first floor. But the three rooms were above the dining rooms and were quite big. All of them were dedicated to the family.
The biggest room was the study of the Lord. The other two rooms were for the management of properties and the charter of all members of the Black Family. All these rooms would have zero traffic for the next few years at least: since only Lord Black was allowed to be in those rooms, and everyone knew how that man was.
____
The man in question was lazily on the couch while Charlus was trying to get him to fix Harry's broken toy.
"Fix it."
Sirius just rolled over on the couch and said, "Tomorrow."
____
On the second floor, there were six rooms, all for living. Each room had its bathroom, and could comfortably host three people. The floor plan for the upper floor was the same. The only difference was that the third floor had a bigger room for the Lord, while the second floor had a bigger room for the Heir.
The furniture was all proper, but not suitable for what they had in mind. Since there was one family which made the place especially more lively, they had to have an extra bed for each room.
After putting the beds in place, Sirius decided to screw with the future residents. He sent Dumbledore away and then planned the ultimate revenge on the unknown people who pranked him last summer. He took help from Tonky to prep the house. He would have called Kreacher too, but Kreacher was still in a coma. Kreacher had tried too hard to disobey the command of the Lord of the Black Family so the bond magic had punished him too hard.
Sirius first coloured the entire house red and gold. To the outside world, it was his pride of being a Gryffindor that made him do this. However, the reason he did this was to help him in pranking. The red and gold colours were so bright that disillusionment charms would work even more effectively with such a distracting colour for the walls.
Disillusionment charms didn't make items invisible. Such a feat is impossible, and only mythical items like the cloak of Death could achieve it. What it did was it made the item merge into the background. That was why disillusionment charms worked more effectively when the item was placed in front of a wall. If the same item was in the centre of a class, the disillusionment charm would be seen through, as the caster would have to have a lot of practice to make the item adopt such complicated 360-degree colour schemes.
Sirius placed numerous prank items on the walls below torches and paintings. He also placed them in the bedrooms. He rubbed his hands in excitement for the mayhem he would cause for the rest of the summer.
Before going, he sealed the first floor. Since the kids were all curious, they would definitely go to the offices on the first floor, and god knows what malicious protective charms were on the doors to the offices. After he sealed the first floor, he took out one final object and put it in the middle of the hall, by hanging it from the chandelier of the hall. As he left, the spherical object was still swinging from the chandelier.
