Capítulo 14: Chapter 14
I leave my desk, walking nervously to the elevator, my back still hurts. When I get to the elevator doors, I stand there in a lot of pain, even with my painkillers in my system. The doors open, and I enter, thinking how could I be so careless to let this one thing slip by. I've always been so careful. Then I got that call, and I became careless in my need to protect my little sister. I may lose her. But now, I must face the most fearsome woman ever, the only one who can tame Tony Stark.
I come out of the elevator and make my way to Pepper's office and knock on the door.
The door opens from the other side, and Pepper is there holding the door. If looks could kill, I would be dead from the look she was giving me right now. I follow her into her office, shutting the door behind me.
I sit down in the chair in front of her desk. I feel like I've been sent to the principal's office again. She looks at me and says, "what is going on?" I look at her and say, "I don't want anything. All I want is to live a normal peaceful life. If I wanted, I could have came clear on this a long time ago." She looks at me, confused. "Then what are you going to do about the situation you've found yourself in." I smile, looking at her, saying, "I've got some people helping me figure out who it is." She looks at me and says, "As long as you don't intend to hurt Tony with this information, you have one more willing to help." I look at her, shocked, then she says, "But I still think you should tell Tony he is going crazy trying to find you." I look at her saying, "I don't think that would be a good idea just because he can't keep a secret that is important and for me to continue doing my jobs, I need to stay just as who I am now without people look for the next big scoop because that is what I would become when the world finds out who I am." She nods, saying, " Then I will keep this secret until you are ready to tell him but know this he can help you protect your little sister." I shake my head, saying, "I can keep her safe myself. Don't forget I was classified as a near genius."
I get up, and the pain is so bad I fall back into the chair Pepper looks at me confused, saying, "Are you ok?" I nod my head hissing in pain. She walks over, placing a gentle hand on my back, causing me to hiss in pain more. She withdraws her hand, looking at it. Her fingertips are covered in my blood. She then says, "what happened to you?" I just shake my head, saying, "One secret revealed a day is my limit, please." She nods, saying, "Then at least let me bandage you up. I do have some experience with that living around Tony and the Avengers." I nod, and she gets to work.
After many hours of listening to Pepper grumble about how is it possible for someone to get hurt so bad unless I was in a fight. When she finally lets me go, she tells me to take a week off to heal. And on my walk home, I can feel the toxins in my system are not gone. When I realized this, I am closer to home than my den, so I continued my way there. Besides, I haven't been home in a while. When I get to my door, I have a hard time opening the door. I then realize that I miss identified the monster in that fight.
