Capítulo 50: System Temptation

Petra City's defenses had held for longer than expected. However, it was impossible for them to make up for their disadvantages. The Shen's forces were just superior in every way. Within the first two hours they managed to fight their way into the city.

On one of the main streets in Petra City, a small barricade had been set up. It blocked off the entire street and was set up using a mix of sandbag's and armored vehicles. From the center of the barricade a hail of bullets were flying through the air from a mounted machine gun.

"Die you, bastards!" The soldier using it yelled as began gunning down the tens of Faunus rushing towards them.

The kinetic energy from each shot held rushed through their bodies. The Ultima Uniforms were strong but in the end, the bodies wearing them were flesh. After minutes of continuous fire, all of the Faunus's bodies lied dead on the ground.

Seeing that the soldier began to chuckle to himself as the others behind him sighed in relief.

"Damn, those things were way too strong. There's no way we can beat them without heavy weaponry." The Ultima Uniforms were just too powerful for any normal soldier to deal with. It gave them the ability to tear apart cars with their bare hands and survive point-blank explosions.

How the hell could they deal with a force like that? It's why they had to resort to setting up barricades and using mounted guns. Other than that they would need to rely on air support to put the bastards down. But if one were to look up in the air, all you would see is constant fighting.

Expecting any kind of support was impossible. The fifty or so soldiers couldn't help but wonder why they were trying. They were fighting a losing battle. Their only hope was to hold out until help would come. The broadcast to people throughout Mistral and perhaps the world.

'Still, even if help is on its way it's on us to survive.' The Commander in charge looked across his men. Most of them were exhausted or injured in some way. They had no chance to rest or get medical assistance. Even their ammunition was beginning to get affected, due to the sheer difference in numbers.

And the battle in the sky above the city was growing more and more one-sided. All of this made the situation bleak. In the end all they could do was evacuate people towards their HQ. But if their defenses fall…

The thought immediately made the Commander shake his head. But it was in that brief silence that everyone behind the barricade heard a voice.

"Oh, it looks like we missed a few of you..." The voice was chilling and every soldier there immediately felt a cold breeze flow across their bodies.

"Enemy!"

"Get in positions!"

Immediately they all got to their feet preparing to fight as the gunner took control of the mounted machine gun. Looking down the street his breath quickened as his eyes darted. There was a frosty mist blocking his vision only a few hundred feet down the street. Eventually, someone slowly walked out from that mist.

The gunner immediately felt his heart freeze. It was Taella, the same woman who they watched tear down their gate and destroy their wall. She was different now, that calm coyish woman was nowhere to be seen. Her eyes almost seemed contracted and she had a look on her face that made one's instincts scream to run.

Every step she took froze a four-meter area around her. But more importantly, the gunner could clearly see clear marks of blood, frozen across her hands and body even on her face. The other soldiers who spotted her began to tremble. Why… Why did they come across this monster in particular?

The Commander standing behind them saw this and was in no better position. All he could do was utter a single command.

"Op- Open Fire!"

His voice penetrated the soldier's hearts as they instinctively began to shoot. It was more out of pure fear than anything else. The entire street echoed with the sound of gunfire. A normal person even if they were the strongest of Huntsman or Huntresses wouldn't be able to take such a barrage.

Yet as the bullets flew they noticed Taella simply stood there smiling at them. Their shots were not affecting her at all. This fact made them wish they could shoot even faster, however, their rate of fire was at its limit.

As the bullet's flew the moment they got within four meters of Taella they would cool. At the three-meter mark, they would begin to freeze. At two meter's they would begin losing their kinetic energy entirely. And by the time they were a meter from her body, they were frozen solid and fell straight to the ground.

"Crap! Why won't they go through!" Within a few minute's their weapons finally ran out of ammo. The last bullet fired, was frozen, and fell to the ground. As local silence enveloped the street Taella was still just standing there.

"Heh…" With a slight chuckle, a chill suddenly shot from Taella's feet. It coated the street and the building's freezing solid. In seconds the entire street was frozen and the soldier's feet were stuck to the ground.

"What the hell is-" Before one of them could finish speaking a spike made of ice shot up from below him out of nowhere. The spike ran through his torso forcing him into the air as it grew. The next second he hung there impaled with the light in his eyes gone and blood dripping down the ice.

"Ah? What just…"

"AGH!"

It took a moment for the soldier's to realize what had just happened. But when they did they immediately wanted to run yet they couldn't.

"Ahahahah!"

Taella broke into a crazed laugh as she began killing them off. Over five of them were directly implanted just like the first, however, some had even more brutal deaths. Somewhere cut apart by dozens of sharp blades of ice, while others were bisected on the spot.

There were even a few who were so brutally killed that their bodies were simply torn to shreds. It was a massacre, the frozen street was dyed red and the gruesome scene left behind was enough to make anyone gag. This scene was specifically caught and broadcast to the rest of the world.

Some people fainted on the spot while others threw up. It was one thing to watch war from afar, however seeing live people being slaughtered like that. It was enough to make the hardest of hearts squirm.

When it was finally over Taella casually walked her way down the street ignoring what was around her. She was still talking and laughing to herself, deranged beyond any semblance of sanity.

At the same time back at Beacon in the headmaster's office, Ozpin's desk had been cracked to the point it was about to break. He had slammed it so hard that even his mug shattered from the vibration.

"This is even worse than a Grimm Invasion." Ironwood, on the other line of the call, spoke in a sealed tone. He was a General and he was used to viewing death, however, even his mind was shaken a bit.

Even Ozpin was at a loss, Shen's forces were doing was utter genocide he could see any rhyme or reason for it.

"Is there really nothing we can do?" Glynda who was standing next to Ozpin couldn't help but ask. However, Ironwood gave her a clear answer.

"I'm afraid not. Mistral has closed their borders and unless they ask us for assistance we can not do anything. They might even take our help as an act of war." Shen's fangs had simply sunk too deep into Mistral. Ozpin remained silent before speaking to them and himself. His voice seemed to have lost its strength.

"Then all we can do is sit and watch? How pitiful…" Glynda frowned, letting out a slow and long sigh. She had seen this all play out and was just as angry as Ozpin. In the end, the only reprieve is that the suffering would end soon enough.

Of course, why would Shen ever leave things there? With Taella joining the fight, Petra City fell within two hours. When the last person was killed and the final building was burned to the ground, the broadcast ended. The lack of any vocal reasoning or explanation at the end of such a travesty made every person in Mistral terrified.

Even the Noble Families who had sided with Shen and had Venti's word that he wouldn't turn his army on them couldn't help but feel shaken. All that was holding Shen back was a simple promise. If he broke it any one of them would be crushed. It made them wish to prove they were loyal and useful as quickly as possible.

On the other hand, Neo, Torchwick, and all of the others had already begun their assaults on their city's. To the outside world, Mistral had once again gone quiet. But inside, new's that city after city was being attacked was traveling fast. Petra City was in a rather great location and had very good defenses almost rivaling Argus.

However other cities were not in the same boat. Within a span of days city by the city began to fall, on the third a total of ten had been completely destroyed. This new's did not reach the outside world however within Mistral people were panicking like crazy. It was as if a massive shadow had been cast across the Kingdom blocking out the sun.

At the same time, Shen was still in the air riding inside of an airship. Pyrrha and Raven who had been flying with him had disappeared, and so did half of the fleet of ships that were following behind his. Still, Shen didn't seem worried at the slightest, his mind was completely focused on something else.

Staring at his Status he couldn't help but feel joyful. All of his efforts had pooled together and now he was officially Level 22.

{Personal Information}

Name: Shen

Level: 22 [58200/14676700]

This was a milestone for a bunch of reasons but more importantly, it finally gave him access to what he has been longing for, the shop! He had been a Gacha addict for too long, the emotional stress he went through every spin made his head hurt. No matter how much money one had, luck would always find a way to screw you over.

'But the shop will be different. All that matters is if you're rich and it will treat me fairly.'

Comparing the Shop and the Gacha System was like comparing your abusive ex and your lovely new gold-digging girlfriend. Definitely not the best comparison but Shen was still happy with it.

{Available System Functions}

Inventory: Gives the user a limitless pocket dimension that is capable of holding an infinite amount of mass. While living matter can not enter this space, anything else will remain stasis-like until removed.

Companion: The user will be able to temporarily summon a random being from any fictional universe they desire. As a cost, the user will have to sacrifice some of their own power. This being will be loyal and listen to the user's commands, however, how long they can exist depends on the user's ability. You can not summon more than one at a time.

Shop: This will allow the user to access a new special menu. Like the Gacha, the user will be required to convert currency. Afterwards, the user is free to browse any manner of abilities or items. However, unlike the Gacha, the user will also need to have the appropriate level depending on their purchase.

Shen's eyes immediately shot to the Shop option, but he couldn't help but notice something new. As his eyes read over it he couldn't help but let out a short laugh.

'This System really loves tempting me huh…'
