Capítulo 49: 49. Tantrum
RuQian sized up the room, then glanced at the dishevelled Bai Xing then towards the jumping ball in her arms. 'Did Xiao Ruan do this?' was the momentary thought she had but then she dismissed the ridiculous thought.
Why would a kid do this? Oh she was so wrong.
"What happened to the living room?"
"Uhh..." Bai Xing stuttered not knowing what to say. "Umm.."
RuQian stared at Bai Xing intensely wanting an answer. Bai Xing felt scared, even though the girl was in her uniform, her stare unnerved him. 'This girl could make others do what she wanted with just a stare'.
"Umm.. That, Xiao Ruan wanted to see you in the morning itself but she was unhappy that she couldn't."
RuQian turned her stare towards Xiao Ruan, at this point she saw another person enter the living room from the corner of her eye but she did not want to divert her eyes from the kid in her arms.
This kind of behavior was unacceptable and RuQian had to make sure Xiao Ruan knew of that.
Xiao Ruan started wiggling in RuQian's arms, uncomfortable due to the stares being thrown her way. She finally lifted her head and tried to make an innocent face but this did not deter RuQian's expressions.
In fact she made a face filled with disappointment. This prompted a few tears to form in the little girl's eyes.
"I am sorry Qian Jie." Xiao Ruan said with a disheartened voice. Others would've easily succumbed to her but it was not easy do the same with RuQian.
"What are you sorry about Xiao Ruan?" RuQian asked in a monotone voice. Gone was the playful, happy tone.
Xiao Ruan squirmed and answered avoiding her gaze, "Uh.. For making a mess?"
"No! That's not what you should be sorry about." The kid lifted her head.
"Huh?"
Even Bai Xing did not understand why RuQian said this while Fei Fei looked on to see what RuQian would say about her daughter's outrageous behavior.
"What did your dada say when you wanted to meet me in the morning?"
"Um. That you would come home after school."
"Then why did you not listen to him? You are supposed to listen to your parents Xiao Ruan or else I won't play with you again. Understood?"
Xiao Ruan got scared when RuQian said she wouldn't play with her again, so she nodded her head in understanding.
"And by the way, I am not the one you should say sorry to."
Xiao Ruan went to her parents and apologized to them after this. Fei Fei was actually impressed by RuQian's way of dealing with her daughter.
Kids should be taught the right things but there was a right way to do so. Yelling at a kid wouldn't work.
RuQian taught Xiao Ruan that she had made a mistake and showed her where the mistake was made. So from now on, Xiao Ruan knew that if she wanted something, throwing a tantrum would not help her.
Xiao Ruan had been asking for RuQian from the moment she woke up and when she was told RuQian would come by in the evening she had taken it pretty well.
But come afternoon, she was bored and had started throwing a tantrum saying she would not eat and later on she started making a mess.
Both the parents had tried their best to explain that RuQian was in school and could not come but the girl wasn't having any of it.
Now though, she quietly went into the living room, cleaned up her mess, then cleaned up her room, sat at the dining table, had her food and went into her room.
Fei Fei was utterly dumbfounded, it was like RuQian was a magician. Bai Xing introduced RuQian to his wife.
They spoke for a while but then RuQian wanted to play with Xiao Ruan first. Since the girl had apologized to her parents, cleaned up the mess she made and also had the food she had skipped, it would be better to play with the girl as a reward.
It was right to teach her right from wrong but once she learnt about her mistake, she also needed to be rewarded.
This way, she wouldn't make mistakes easily and she would also understand that if she did not make mistakes she would be rewarded.
This was a healthy way of upbringing which RuQian had learnt in her past life. RuQian had wanted to have kids before her depression, so she had researched about this stuff.
But of course that never happened but she remembered all the lessons.
In this life, RuQian did not know about love but she did want a kid. Maybe she could adopt, her grandfather might not allow her to stay unmarried though and there was also that man whom her grandmother had chosen for her.
RuQian played with Xiao Ruan for a while until the girl fell asleep playing. Xiao Ruan was very tired after not eating and also wrecking everything.
So after she had to clean up and filling up her stomach she was too tired to go on. After playing for just a little while she fell asleep in RuQian's arms.
RuQian placed the little girl on the bed, covered her with the duvet, closed the drapes on her bed and left the room.
She found Bai Xing and Li Yifei in the living room having some tea. When Bai Xing saw RuQian, he poured a cup for her.
She sat down opposite them and took the teacup with a smile. She glanced at Li Yifei after finishing her tea.
"I want you to be my manager!"
