Capítulo 41: 41. Vile Monster
RuQian sat down in the car, as soon as she did, her phone rang. It was her grandfather, there was still an hour before he got home, so she did not understand why he was calling but she picked up anyway.
"Xiao Qian? Where are you?" Her grandfather sounded a little agitated.
"What happened grandfather?" RuQian guessed there was a problem with the company. She did not think something happened at this time in her past life but her grandfather's voice felt weird. If need be she would just help out from behind the scenes.
"Where are you Xiao Qian? Why are you not home?" Her grandfather was not answering her.
"I had some work outside. So I..." Her grandfather did not let her finish.
"Come home immediately! You can do your work later."
"I am already on my way home grandfather. What's going on? What is the matter?"
"Okay, since you are already on the way, come quickly." With that he hung up.
It was so weird, her grandfather did not even tell her what happened. RuQian kept wondering if there was some bad news but she was already used to those. She would just have to deal with whatever happened.
RuQian told her driver to speed up. In her past life, the days leading up to her birthday party, or rather her introduction party as the heiress of the Zhang family were very quiet.
At that time she wasn't very much interested in this party but this was where her downfall started.
The party was hyped up throughout the whole city and many socialites, businessmen, actors had arrived and RuQian had made a fool of herself in front of all these people.
She trusted her father and her then boyfriend too much to see through their evil plans. At that time her grandfather knew how much RuQian wanted Su Ting's recognition so even if he did not want to, he invited Su Ting to the party.
Su Ting insulted her grandfather by not coming to the party and to add to the insult Su Ting had given his invite to his precious daughter Lu Xu Mei so she could attend the party.
A lot of the inner circle already knew who Lu Xu Mei was, it was not really a secret as to what Su Ting had been doing outside. He had too many affairs and he had never been able to hide any of them or rather he never intended to.
RuQian was the only one who was too drowned in wanting to be recognized in her father's eyes to have noticed any of these.
During the party, everything was fine, her grandfather introduced her, people started talking to her, introducing themselves. She was bored, her father was not there but she was happy Chang Min had arrived with her as her date.
A while later Chang Min excused himself saying he had to go take a call. RuQian did not suspect anything and was just going around.
She suddenly felt really thirsty and had headed to get some water. After drinking some water she felt better but when she turned around with the glass in her hand, someone bumped into her very hard. The girl who bumped into her fell on the floor with a thud!
The glass in her hand fell down shattering, garnering the attention of the crowd. She did not know who the girl was that had fallen on the ground but she clearly knew it was the girl's fault.
RuQian was just seventeen, sixteen in everyone's eyes, she did not really know that this was all a plan, or that her words that day would land her in trouble and elevate Lu Xu Mei in other 's eyes.
Not knowing all this she got angry and scolded Lu Xu Mei for bumping into her and ruining her dress. RuQian did not curse at her but the way the whole scene looked was, a step sister being bullied by the real daughter.
People started whispering, saying RuQian must have pushed Lu Xu Mei deliberately and even poured water on her. It also did not help that Lu Xu Mei started crying silently. Everyone saw Lu Xu Mei's sad, crying face and took pity on her.
And then Lu Xu Mei did the unthinkable, she had gotten on her knees and started begging RuQian for forgiveness.
Frankly, RuQian did not even know this girl and when Lu Xu Mei started begging, RuQian should have realized it was all acting but she was too naive to know that.
RuQian tried to help Lu Xu Mei stand up seeing as she was begging unnecessarily but why would Lu Xu Mei let RuQian do something good in front of all the elite social circle.
As RuQian helped Lu Xu Mei up, she 'pretended' that RuQian pushed her again and fell down on her own. This led to more whispering and this time the crowd of people were not even trying to keep their voices down.
They threw disgusted looks at RuQian. They did know Lu Xu Mei was an illegitimate daughter but treating a girl like that was not right. They thought of RuQian as a vile girl for her age.
A lot more happened after that but still she could only rely on herself.
RuQian could hear the whispers but she had no one who came to her rescue, her grandfather was talking to some businessmen in a nearby room so she looked for Chang Min but he was nowhere in the crowd.
RuQian was all alone and moreover she was new to parties, she did not know what to do. In the midst of all the whispers she failed to see the smirk on Lu Xu Mei's face.
Her reputation which had only started growing that same day, was stamped on as a vile monster, which was how she was called from that moment forward.
She was so hurt that day but had no shoulder to lean on. RuQian had not seen Chang Min in the party after that but he called and told her he had to leave due to some situation.
RuQian never knew Su Ting wanted to actually make sure of two things with that party. One was that RuQian had a bad reputation from then on, which she did.
The second was Lu Xu Mei having a good reputation, which again she did. RuQian had been despised by every social group, no one had ever believed in her words while on the other hand Lu Xu Mei was always the star of the show.
In fact Lu Xu Mei was able to get into her modelling career from forming a connection in that same party. And after the businessman who wanted Lu Xu Mei to be his model had seen how she had been 'treated' by RuQian, he took even more pity on her.
Su Ting had destroyed her and set his precious daughter's future into place by not even appearing at the party.
It was not the same this time though. She would change everything.
The car stopped suddenly and she heard her driver saying they had arrived. RuQian realized she had gone down the rabbit hole again.
She kept remembering all these and she had no control over them, not while she was awake and definitely not while she was asleep.
RuQian collected her emotions, then remembering the weird phone call from her grandfather she rushed inside.
The person she saw in the living room was who stunned her and she stared at him open mouthed!
