Capítulo 53: Goodbyes

While some people participated in a conversation with Calix, Allen sat by the sidelines and tried to stay as far as he could from the centre of attention.

Though it didn't help that there were many eyes on him, seeking every little opportunity to talk to the uninterested prince that was distancing himself away.

Taking the opportunity to walk up to Allen, Andres stomped over and attempted to save him by inviting him to a conversation.

"You hate social events huh?" Andres teased.

"Like always." Allen replied, hiding his relief.

"Will you miss us by any chance? It just seems that you don't really care-" Andres blurted out without thinking and immediately bit his tongue to stop his mind from speaking.

Allen stared down at the floor and contemplated what to answer to that question. He felt like he needed to be more frank in his answers as to not let people get the wrong idea.

"More than I will admit." Allen confessed, showing a small hint of a smile.

Andres was taken aback but eventually replied to Allen with a grin and started his usual nonsensical blabbing again.

The night had finally ended with everyone worn out and some nobilities left dissapointed without any opportunity to talk to Prince Allen.

When everyone had left except the Drakos, Allen walked up to them. He didn't want to leave this family without saying any words like he did with his other family. He knew that he still had the opportunity to talk to the Drakos tomorrow but he felt like now would be a better time.

The Drakos sat on their chairs and looked at Allen who can now be seen nervously fidgeting as of trying to find words to start.

Allen breathed in deeply and looked up at his new family, "Thanks..for everything." he quickly said.

"Oh? Trying to make us emotional now?" the king stated with a smile.

The others glared at the king as if ridiculing him for his rudeness. They all looked at Allen and either gave him a thumbs up or a smile of encouragement.

However, Atlas had something different in mind, he jumped up from his seat and gave Allen a long awaited hug he wanted to execute for a while now. This time, the younger brother accepted the hug but pushed him away eventually.

"Right then.. I'll see you tomorrow for my departure." Allen said, giving a small nod and walking away, exhausted from the banquet without even doing much.

The king waited until Allen had left and smiled, "He's grown, huh?" he said, holding back his tears.

"Aren't you supposed to be the man here?" Kayden teased.

Allen made his way to his room and stayed awake for a long time, even he couldn't hide his excitement for his departure tomorrow.

The awaited day had came, everyone was gathered up at the garden early in the morning as if they were anxious the children would leave secretly without telling them.

Calix arrived first to the garden, surprised to see everyone he knew decently well having a picnic outside the palace. He had just wanted to take his painting back from last night but he had seem to cause suspicious looks to fall upon him.

Allen made sure everything he had wanted to bring was in his bag, his important books, his small collection of knives and some maps of the upperworld.

He walked out of the door, surprised to see all eyes on him and Calix. He ignored them and faced his friend, slightly confused to why he wasn't ready. "Aaron is coming here in a while to perform a magic circle to transport us to the upperworld." he reminded.

Feeling relieved that Allen was there to take away the terrifying glares, Calix nodded and immediately rushed back into the castle to collect his huge luggage of treasures.

"In a hurry, aren't you?" Octavian asked, turning behind and grabbing something.

"Is it that obvious?" Allen asked, trying to find something reflective to see his heavy eyebags in.

"Allen, come over here." Atlas called out waving a paper bag infront of his face frantically.

Atlas forcibly pushed the paper bag into Allen's arms as if he wasn't allowing him to deny the gift. "It's a figurine of me" he said.

Immediately, Allen's face had turned into a disgusted one and was about to strictly reject the present, he wouldn't want a figurine of someone in his room.

"I'm joking. Inside the bag is a small crystal orb to aid you with practicing magic, it mutiples your power eventually with regular use. It can also evaluate the level of your magic core." Atlas said, smiling, knowing that the gift would be something Allen would like and find beneficial.

"Right, your gift is cool and all Atlas. But father and me plus Kayden and Irene has something better from a artifact hoarder and maker we tracked down." Octavian said, waving a bigger paper bag infront of Allen's face.

Octavian shot Atlas a smirk, he reached into the bag and brought out a small flat black box. "This is mine, it's a weightless dagger that can retract to a pen. I've seen you use weapons before but I personally think daggers suit your fighting style more, plus this.." he brought out the blade and lit the dagger on fire. "It is resistant against all elements."

Allen slowly walked over and accepted the new weapon with a smile, he spinned it with his hands to check the comfortability and to see of there were really no burnt marks from the small test earlier, he clicked a small button at the handle of the dagger and to his amazement, it retracted to a small black pen with a dragon marking. "Thanks, Octavian and Atlas." he said.

Atlas returned the smirk right back at Octavian.

Showing that Allen did like his gift too.

"Ahem, boys. It's my turn." father said, snatching the paper bag that was in Octavian's hand and passing it to Allen.

Allen opened the bag to see a large amount of tiny scrolls and a necklace with a bright red crystal hanging from it. Besides from that, there was a envelope with money sticking out from it and a black bracelet.

"What are these items? Besides..the money." Allen asked, surprised to see the right kind of currency to use in the upperworld.

"The scrolls are message scrolls where you could write a note and send it to anyone from any part of the world, it has no restrictions. As long as you imagine a person's face while sending the scroll, it'll immediately appear before their eyes, all you have to do is insert some mama after writing on the scroll. These were quite pricy and hard to get from that old man." Kayden explained and insulted.

"thanks." Allen immediately placed the small scrolls bag into the paper bag to make sure he didn't drop any as they were considered quite useful to him. "The necklace?" he asked as he took the necklace from the bag amd inspected the jewel.

"I'm glad you asked, this was chosen by me and mother. The necklace will store in excess mana created by you, for you to use in dire situations where you have ran out of mana. I have no idea about the capacity though, I heard it depends on the capability of the user." Irene explained.

"Thanks for the gift." before Allen could even put the necklace on, the king started talking.

"My bracelet allows you to store in all your items, it has the capacity to hold 15 items no matter how big or small." he quickly explained while pointing to Aaron who was by their doorstep.

"Let's get this started shall we? Where's the other brat?" Aaron asked, looking around, placing his hands together in a weird formation.

"Here here! And I'm not a brat!" Calix yelled out, slamming the door open. "Can't you calm down and let me take-a breather!" he complained.

"Eh heh sorry I'm on a time limit, I've got to attend to the Wisteria Kingdom right after this." Aaron said, putting down his handa and looking at the surrondings.

"May I have your permission to make a magic circle here?" Aaron asked pointing to a empty grass patch with no flowers in the way.

The queen looked at her husband and than turned back and nodded, "You have my permission to start." she granted after seeing that Allen and Calix were both present.

Allen was still putting on his newly recieved necklace and a black braclet that oddly fit him perfectly, his admiration for the equipment was stopped by a strony gust of wind.

"Might get a little windy up in here." Aaron warned, his hands placed together again, the grass started having bright red lines with undistinguishable patterns appearing in the circle.

After a while, the magic circle was completed when a silver light shone in the middle of it, blinding everyone. Strong winds were circling around the magic circle as the red lines beneath glimmered.

"Say your goodbyes as this will be your gateway. Navigate your way south to find the Adelson's auction house. You won't miss it, it's polished in gold." Aaron said before stepping back from the magic circle, looking at the kids.

"I'll try to come back in one piece! Please keep in contact with me using our family bond alright?" Calix yelled to his parents while walking backwards into the magic circle while waving, the wind started to enclose around him.

"Till we meet again, I'll put in some effort in the academy if you really want me to." Allen said, looking at his father.

"I want you to become the best, think you can do it?" the king challenged.

"We'll see.. I'll try to keep in contact." Allen said before turning his back and entering the magic circle, "thanks." he said one last time.

Aaron snapped his fingers and the bright silver light shone again, completely veiling the children in the light, sounds of Calix still saying goodbye could be heard echoing but it stopped when the light started to disappear.

"Well, now they're gone. Let's hope they excel and don't let us down now." Aaron said before walking away with a cold look on his face.
