Capítulo 9: opportunity
The reveal of what would become my go-to hero costume was, as expected, received very positively. Every aspect of it, be it look, feel, durability, or quality, was virtually peerless in this world. It helped that most people, be they adult or child, tended to dress colourfully and, in my opinion, childishly. Through this outfit, I hoped to introduce a better sense of style to the world. And from the looks of it, I was already successful, as nearly everyone in the class, save the more timid ones such as Todoroki Shoto and Bakugo. Even All Might himself complimented my fashion, something I did not care too much about but was nice nonetheless.
The one who had the most prominent reaction, aside from a nerd like Deku, was, surprisingly, Momo Yaoyorozu. Her quirk, creation, required her to have extensive knowledge of the molecular structure of objects. This need resulted in her developing the skill to see through the composition of most objects at first glance. This impressive ability of hers was also her downfall, as she had a slight mental breakdown trying to understand my outfit. It took me explaining to her the suit consisted of materials that did not exist in this world for her to calm down. I took this chance to tell her our "quirks" were quite similar and that we should get to know each other more, laying the foundations for something more in the future.
It took a while, but All Might eventually managed to calm the group down before explaining the following exercise.
"Now, shall we begin, you zygotes?!" He said, an excited grin plastered on his face.
"Now, It's time for combat training!"
Before he even got the chance to explain the exercise, Ida the square already had a question.
"Sensei!" He stuck his hand up. "This is a battle centre from the entrance exam, so will we be conduction urban battles again?" An excellent question, but one that would've undoubtedly been answered, regardless.
"No," All Might answered. "We're going to move ahead two steps!"
"Most of the time, fighting villains takes place outside, but if you look at the total numbers, atrocious villains appear indoors at a higher rate.
Imprisonment, house arrest, backroom deals: in this society filled with heroes, truly intelligent villains hide in the shadows!
For this class, you'll be split into villains and heroes and fight 2-on-2 indoor battles."
"Without basic training?" Tsuyu Asui, a cute froglike girl, asked justly. Aside from the entrance exam, none of the students, including me, had any combat experience. Unlike me, however, none of the others had any unfair advantages.
All Might answered unhesitatingly.
"This is a real battle to understand those basics! However, the key this time is that there's no robot you can just beat up."
"How will wins and losses be determined?" Momo asked.
"Can we beat them up anyway?" Bakugo interjected.
"Will the punishment be expulsion like with Mr Aizawa?" Uraraka asked fearfully.
"How shall we be split up?" said Ida.
"Isn't this cape crazy?"
It seemed All Might could not handle the bombardment of questions anymore, and he said meekly:
"I'll answer all your questions!"
"Now listen here," he said, pulling out a comically small script. He then started explaining the following exercise, which essentially came down to a 2v2 battle, with one of the teams having a nuclear weapon" they needed to protect. The match would be decided when either one of the teams was defeated, or when the weapon was captured by the other team. The teams and opponents were decided by drawing lots. Simple enough.
The teams were then decided, with me and Momo forming team C. Having formed a good first impression thanks to my costume, we immediately started talking. She, as diligent as she was, immediately wanted to discuss strategies for the upcoming fight. I immediately stopped her from doing so.
"Calm down, Momo. There's no need. When the match starts, you can just sit back, relax, and let me handle it. I can't let a beautiful girl such as you do any work, right?" When saying the last statement, I flashed my most charming smile, which got Momo blushing fervently, before she reluctantly agreed.
Sadly, Me and Momo were not the first team to fight, so we had to sit through multiple matches. Going first was, as I remembered, Deku and Uraraka against Bakugo and Ida. The match went exactly as I remembered, and though it greatly excited the others, I was simply not impressed. I was more interested in the second match, during which Shoto Todoroki flexed his powers. His quirk of ice and fire was pretty interesting, though he was still far from being a match for me.
One match later, It was finally my turn. As we took our positions as villains, I, in the most gentlemanly way possible, summoned a beautiful golden throne, decorated with countless gems. "M'lady," I said as I winked seductively, offering Momo the seat. She tried refusing at first, but she could not resist the allure of splendour and comfort, so she hesitatingly took a seat. I flashed another smile and walked towards the entrance of the room in which we were. I then closed my eyes and extended my senses throughout the building. It didn't take long for me to find our opponents, Jiro Kyoka and Kaminari Denki. Their powers were enhanced hearing electric discharge, respectively. Though I was sure they had thought of a strategy against me, it did not matter.
They walked vigilantly through the building, keeping watch for every little clue or my position. It was futile, however, as I was not coming to them.
Without making a sound, I summoned two golden gates behind the duo, out of which came two beautiful golden chains, each adorned with a golden spearhead. Enkidu, one of the strongest treasures in my collection. These chains could even bind Gods, and they emitted a strong pressure. The duo noticed Enkidu materializing behind them, but it was too late. In the blink of an eye, The two were bound tightly by the golden chains, never to escape without my command.
The spectators' mouths were agape.
"Hey, isn't that just cheating at this point?" one student said.
"Right, how can he be so strong, and have all those weapons? it's just not fair."
However, the biggest surprise had yet to come.
"W-what? What is this? W-why can't I use my quirk?"
