Cobalt looked at her father in absolute kindness, the love she had for her father was true. Quite genuine in fact.
"How are you feeling?", asked Cobalt curiously as she lowered down to her fathers level.
"Ugh, to be honest I have felt worse.", replied her father in a brief chuckle before letting out a cough.
Smaug noticed that the stress of ruling a clan must of made him feel uneasy and thus he got sick. The herbs must of knocked out that fever he had, but he would still need rest.
"We had someone come and help us, he is a kind person father.", spoke Cobalt as she looked back at Smaug.
Cobalts father looked up at him as best as he could, he clearly still felt bad. "Is that so?"
Her fathers voice was hoarse and scratchy as he spoke. "Tell me, did you help my daughter?"
Smaug nodded, "Yes, I don't expect much in return."
Cobalt looked at her father as he shook his head chuckling hoarsely. "Well you are going to get something in return."
Smaug looked at him as he took notice of his stubbornness, you couldn't kill stubborn no matter how hard you tried.
"I will repay you when I start to get my strength back. Meanwhile, the clan needs someone who they can depend on."
Cobalt looked at him curiously, "You mean..?"
Smaug looked at her and then at her father, "Look I am just here to help, so I won't be here long."
Cobalts father laughed lightly, "I know, but I can't run the clan feeling like I do. It will only be temporary, so please lead the clan for me until I get back on my feet?"
Smaug looked at him and then he glanced back at everyone within the clan. He had no idea on how to rule a clan, especially of this size. Glancing at Cobalt, she had a look of hope. She wanted him to say yes, but should he? He had done so much for them already so he was already in deep.
Letting out a sigh did he finally give his answer, "Fine."
At these words everyone began to talk loudly in their excitement, they all could agree that with him being there would things get better. Even Cobalt seemed overly ecstatic as she came over and she took a hold of one of his clawed hands.
"Thank you!", spoke a sincere Cobalt.
Smaug was lost in what he should say, but he granted her a small smile as he nodded. "Don't mention it."
Cobalts father looked at Smaug with a light smile, "I believe you will do fine, but if you have questions be sure to ask me."
Smaug nodded before slowly looking at everyone else, he would have to work hard in making sure that everyone was well.
He looked around before looking at Cobalt, "Is there anyone here who wishes to be a herbalist?"
Cobalt blinked before looking down, "No."
Smaug looked at her for sometime before looking ahead and walking, "I guess you will have to do."
Cobalt jumped in her surprise but she complied as she followed him. "I don't know anything on herbs?"
"I will teach you.", replied Smaug.
Cobalt looked up at him and she smiled softly, she nodded deciding to listen. "Yes sir!"
At her response, Smaug some what looked at her with wide eyes before looking ahead. He hid it well the light blush on his face. The fact that she said that made him think of her as cute, which was silly to think about.
Furthermore, he never had thought of anyone as cute before.
It was just him and his two pets, but now he had others to think about. This was a great change but it was not entirely all bad. After all, with this experience he would no doubt get stronger than before.
Smaug took the time to show Cobalt some wild herbs, while he was showing her did he notice a lot of the clan walking outside. The clan felt safe with him there, so safe in fact that they all went outside to find and gather food.
Smaug looked at Cobalt curiously, he watched as she carefully looked over all of the wild herbs.
"Have any questions?", he asked her.
Cobalt looked at him with a smile, "No, I am glad that you are here."
Smaug blinked at her words. "Oh?"
Cobalt giggled softly, "We are indebted to you."
Smaug tilted his head but his head followed as she pointed to everyone else that was outside of the clan. The so many spinosaurus and suchomimus were out within the marsh, capturing fish again.
The image of everyone feeling safe again was drilled within his memory.
"This is all thanks to you, a stranger.", spoke Cobalt who looked at him with such a tender kindness. "A stranger to all, but a hero to us."
Smaug looked at her silently before looking at the marsh which was full with laughter and conversations. Everyone within the clan had their confidence and home back.
It was hard sometimes, to simply see the beauty that life had to offer. There was beautiful waterfalls, and lands that could never be described in detail all because everyone was surviving. Just about everyone is blind to the simple beauty of laughter and merely living.
To see it though, that was a rare and unforgettable experience.
Moments like these should be cherished.
Smaug sort of smirked, he had to admit that it felt good to help others. He didn't do it often.
Cobalt looked at the herbs as she said, "I hope that when my father gets better I hope that you think about staying with us?"
Smaug looked at her in interest, he felt like teasing her but should he? He wondered what her reaction would be?
Well hell he may as well say it. No point in not asking right? "Do you want me to stay?"
Cobalt looked at him fast and her entire body went into a fidgety fit. "I-It is not just me! I-I'm sure everyone else wants you to stay!?!"
Smaug looked at her with a humorous smirk, he lowered down to pick up the herbs. "Right."
Cobalt looked to the side before looking back at the herbs, her face was quite red. "Why did you say that...?"
Smaug let out a chuckle, "I was curious."
Cobalt stared at him before she smiled, "I see..?"
Smaug handed her the herbs, which she softly took them while looking up at him.
"These herbs are good at reducing fevers.", spoke Smaug with a serious expression.
Cobalt nodded though she still stared at him.
Smaug turned away as he began looking for more herbs, Cobalt on the other hand looked down at the herbs with her face still red.
Some would argue that emotions were what led many to die, but that was what separated the monsters from the true of heart.
Life was precious and so was memories. Without each, would living be dull.
By finding something to fight for, it was a guarantee that you would live long. But you wouldn't get far if you didn't have the strength and motivation to back it up.
With no strength and motivation, many would give up. Toss their life into the wind.
What is the point to throw it all away? After all you only had one life to live.
Cobalt followed Smaug with the herbs still in her hands, she stared at him curiously as they searched. Together they continued to work into the evening finding more herbs that would no doubt help Cobalts father as well as the clan.
When the evening approached, this once struggling clan had found enough food to keep them on their feet. Not to mention, Smaug and Cobalt found plenty of herbs.
Flaay looked quite impressed for he had plenty of food to work with, and being a cook meant that he knew how to prepare food.
It was not everyday that a clan had a cook, and Smaug was quite interested in what Flaay did.
"So tell me? What does a cook like you do?", asked Smaug.
Flaay gave him a smile, he was skillfully pulling the meat from the bone with his claws. "I pull the meat out and spice it up with herbs. This helps give it some flavor as well as preserve it."
Smaug blinked, "Really? How?"
Flaay smirked, "If the meat smells funny then those ruffians out there won't find any interest in eating it. When we eat it, it sure helps increase our immune system a bit but it is a little spicy."
"Impressive.", smirked Smaug.
Flaay gave him a good sized smile, "Heh, that also goes to show that everyone here doesn't get sick all that much!"
Smaug looked at the leader before asking Flaay, "Does he eat?"
Flaay shook his head, "I tried giving him something to eat earlier but he doesn't have a stomach for it yet I guess?"
Smaug looked at Flaay before looking at the side. "I see. Give me some meat without the herbs."
Flaay handed him some meat, he also gave him a look. "You suggesting he don't like my herb jerky?"
Smaug looked at him with a smirk as he took the meat and approached Cobalts father. Flaay snorted loudly looking like he was offended.
Smaug approached the leader with the fish meat in his claws.
"You hungry?", asked Smaug.
Cobalts father looked at him and he chuckled hoarsely, "I am not hungry."
Smaug stared at him as he said, "It's just normal meat."
Cobalts father looked at the meat and he smiled, "Give it here."
Smaug smirked as he handed him the meat. "What is your name if you don't mind me asking?"
"I'm known as Sharpclaw, for my overly sharp claws and even sharper stubbornness.", replied Sharpclaw as he put the fish meat into his mouth.
Smaug gave a large smirk, "You are pretty stubborn."
Sharpclaw let out a low laugh before asking, "Where are you from?"
Smaug shrugged, "I'm from places. I just go here and there."
Sharpclaw stared at him, "I see, you are also alone without a clan?"
Smaug nodded, "Clans are usually not my favorite thing."
"Yet you helped us?", spoke Sharpclaw looking at him with a sharp keen stare.
"I did, and I don't regret it.", replied Smaug. "You were struggling and I figured on giving you all a hand."
Sharpclaw gave him a smile, "I am glad that you wanted to help us. I don't like asking for help sometimes but I had no say so after all if you weren't here who knows what would of happened to us."
Smaug frowned, he didn't want to think about that. "Flaay mentioned something about another clan giving you all a hard time."
Sharpclaw glared, he coughed some before continuing. "A confident rex demanded that we give him our offspring. He kept on making demands and I finally decided to tell him off."
Smaug narrowed his eyes, "Why would he want offspring?"
Sharpclaw scoffed, "The hell if I know! He kept on ordering us around! We are enemies now, and not long ago did he speak of wiping us out."
Smaug looked surprised, "Wiping you out?"
Sharpclaw nodded, "With that threat and getting my clan back up and running I guess I ran myself into the ground and got sick."
Smaug looked at him seriously, "You mean he threatened to start a war with you?"
Sharpclaw looked up at him and he nodded, "That is right."
Smaug frowned sourly, he nodded with his eyes closed. "I will see if I can stay here and help you guys out."
Sharpclaw blinked and he smiled, "You don't have to fight our battle, besides I maybe better by then."
Smaug looked at him, "I want to help you out. Besides, you and your clan need all the help you can get."
Sharpclaw smiled as he nodded, "Fine, but I will repay you. You better accept it to or I will put a hit out on you."
Smaug smirked at him, "We will see about that."
Sharpclaw laughed, "You are more stubborn than me!"
Smaug smirked before saying, "I guess we both are?"
As the night slowly approaches did the clan of Sharpclaw finally find comfort in their own home and with Smaug there would things continue to improve.
The approaching night would always bring dangers, but for a small group of herbivores did they discover the hard way. Out of the herbivores was there one raptor traveling with them this raptor was the target, for he mentioned a white raptor.
Baldur smirked at Sawtooth who had captured them all, they all were tied by vines. The raptor was pushed before Baldur by Sawtooth.
"Tell me raptor do you know of a solid white raptor female?" , asked Baldur with a sinister grin.
The raptor looked at him in surprise before shaking his head, "I-I don't know a solid white raptor!"
A loud crunch was heard as Baldur stepped on the raptor legs. The raptor screamed loudly, "Okay I will talk!?!"
Baldur smirked, "I'm listening."
Baldur is still looking for Devastate and Belle! Which means that he still wants to get his revenge! The question is though? Will he get it?
