Capítulo 25: (Ch 25)Fear

Faith mentally prepared himself for what was to come as his forgotten blade readied for battle. It was quiet but with his mana and shadow sense working together he was prepared for anything and everything.

So when one of the assailants finally charged forward, he was ready.

'Left, Slightly taller than me, carrying a sword and from the internal magic trace he should be using aura' - Faith assessed, immediately side stepping to the right, keeping his left foot forward.

The assailant covered in a black cloak couldn't react to his surprise attack's sudden and seamless evasion, trying his best to regain his balance and another strike.

Faith, however, wasn't willing to give an enemy that chance, killing might've been too far but anything below that was fine for his would-be murders. Taking the chance his left foot filled now with his natural enhancement magic stomped hard on the cloaked figures knee cap.

"ARRHHH!!!" - a muffled scream resounded under the hood of the figure, resembling that of a young boy.

Because he'd kept that foot still with his sidestep it was too close for the cloaked figure to react, crushing his knee cap in one fell swoop. Faith's senses informed him that the rest of the assailants were on their way.

'I guess this one got cocky and overestimated his abilities, or maybe simply underestimated me' - Faith deduced, preparing for the group of attackers while severing the down cloaked figure's Achilles. If they were demons their natural healing would have been quickened but not to the point of fixing a severed Achilles without aid.

'7 more, all older than me, 3 external magic users, 4 interior not counting this one. If I use shadow step that should result in an instant downed enemy but I should save it until I have a better understanding of their plan' - Faith internally concluded, raising his guard.

He could magic at a moments notice and was confident in the speed of his newly invented spell but if used at the wrong time it could leave him defenceless and without a trump card.

The seven assailants quickly arrived surrounding him, all wearing that same black cloak. Faith dragon heart beat faster and faster as he readied himself for the eventual clash.

Yet just as he was prepared for an all-out clash a mighty crash resounded next to him, alerting all those in the clearing to the newly arrived presence. Crashing into the tree almost a few feet from Faith was an adorable Silver fox, adorned slight streaks of black and clearly injured.

'ANIMAL BUDDY!!!' - Faith thought abandoning all thoughts of fighting these people.

He rushed towards the injured silver fox, preforming vital check on it instead of himself to assess the damage.

'It's actually rather light, just a few bruised bones and some torn muscle. With the crash I thought this poor thing would've at least had some internal bleeding or fractures' -Faith thought surprised the little thing was still relatively fine.

Meanwhile, the cloaked figured that had attacked pulled back, it was a strange an ominous thing considering a second ago it seemed they were determined to put him six feet under.

Faith couldn't do anything about it though and instead preformed his 3rd pure mana spell out of the five he knew, Vital share. It was quite simply converting one's mana into a blank lifeforce then feeding it to the recipient. It was much less effective then proper light healing magic but it could increase the natural recovery by quite a lot if you were skilled enough.

The little fox kept struggling but now with the attackers gone Faith didn't think she had any reason to worry.

'Run'

However, that thought process didn't continue when his shadow sense started ringing off out of control, telling its host to book it in the other direction. This time though Faith wasn't given time to react properly and he knew it.

His mind racing with the danger in front of him he held his arm up and reinforced it with other while turning Aura use up to full. Good, he did because not a moment later Faith experience something that felt a little to close to what had ended his first life, as his body was struck by the full weight of a truck-like blow.

Faiths feet couldn't stay planted to the ground with that much force and he was rocketed in the other direction without even seeing his new attacker. The right arm he'd use to hold against the force was pulverised to the point of being completely unless and he'd already dropped his sword with his other to defend against the blow as well. It ended up making most of the bones in his left hand and forearm shatter on contact.

He'd never realised casting vital check could be so dread filling till he found out that most of his ribs on the right side were crack while the other was bruised. His back was okay and luckily the blow hadn't served any important nerves. Because he'd let himself fly by accident he'd actually reduced the damage done to his legs to a few bruises and strains here and there.

Faith's breathing was strained and his muscles hurt all over, but he could still walk and luckily didn't suffer any internal bleeding. Thanks to his double lineage he was able to heal much faster than any normal dragon or demon but it still had its limits. The cuts and bruises could be done in a matter of minutes but his cracked ribs would take a day or two and he wasn't sure about his arms but guessed a week or two at the least.

"Well… *exhale* … Todays just not my day I guess. I found an animal buddy so that's a plus. Alright Faith you gotta figure this out or else you're definitely gonna die, the Rexel is probably caught up with something else if I haven't got any help yet" - Faith concluded out-loud.

Faith's head was banging with a headache and his body was in more pain then he'd ever felt before but he was alive. He could still walk and he could probably even run, considering he'd crashed into a tree and was flying for a good 10 seconds he was probably pretty far away from the attacker.

His pride as a dragon and wrath as a demon almost made him stay and dumbly fight the thing he clearly couldn't beat but Faiths will power won over and he struggling got up. He started his mad dash towards safety or where ever he could go that wasn't near that thing.

The pain was unbearable and he almost lost consciousness every few seconds but he pushed through and kept going, struggling against time to reach where his shadow sense had pointed when he asked for safety.

He didn't get far before loud footsteps of a monster started following behind him, getting closer by the second.

'Shit, come on legs do your jobs better' - Faith pleaded

Faith kept going and from what he could tell he was close to his destination when the approaching footsteps resounded directly behind.

"Hello, Faith exodus" - Came a voice deep and aged with clear resentment.

Faith tried to move away from his attacker but before he could a giant hand clasped around his neck, turning him around and bringing him face to face with the monster in question. It was a giant minotaur with brown skin and black horns on either side of its head. Faith could see the mace he'd probably been battered within its other hand as it held him up to its dark eyes. From behind Faith noticed a silver fox trailing behind it but it never jumped In to help him and he didn't blame it.

This thing wasn't much compared to his mother or father but it was still insanely strong for its species, almost shockingly so. Faith didn't stand a chance against it and he knew it all too well. Yet when it held his neck with clear intentions of crushing it he was extremely tempted to fight back.

"I would love to say I'm sorry but I'm not, something touched by the unholiness of Noxis herself shouldn't exist in this world" - The minotaur said laying out his clear intentions to end the boy's life.

The only part Faith didn't get was about Noxis but when the minotaur started slowly crushing his throat he soon forgot about it. In a bid to extend his life Faith Barraged the Minotaur with shadow magic but apart from pissing him off it didn't do much. He was already low on mana from being forced to take that blow but now he was almost completely drained.

The minotaur kept slowly adding pressure to his neck torturing Faith as his mind raced to find a way to live, to prolong this dream of a life he had. He wasn't willing to give up, to never see his mother or father again. The first proper family he'd had in his otherwise miserable existence.

Fear quickly flooded him as he combed through all the memories he had until he finally stopped on one. It wasn't because It held an answer to his problem but instead reminded Faith of what he was going to lose if he let himself die here.

It was a simple memory, of a teenage boy with brown hair and hazel eyes staring at him through a mirror. The only thing that Faith focused on was those eyes he'd seen far to many times in his life, the ones he wished to never see again. They were cold and distant, detached from life and filled with apathy. They carried no hope, no goals, no care and certainly no love or joy. They were the eyes of someone that was living to die and nothing more.

They Sparked an intense and dark rage inside Faith driving him to the near edges of insanity as he felt pure hatred towards the thing in front of him for forcing him to relive them.

The joyful and curious Faith for just this moment was gone, Replaced by a broken soul filled with nothing but malice.
