The two women remained like that for a while, the breakfast forgotten as the witch focused entirely on comforting Arpious. Eventually, Arpious pulled back slightly, her expression softening as she looked up at the witch. "Thank you," she whispered, her voice hoarse with emotion.
The witch smiled warmly, brushing her thumb across Arpious's cheek to wipe away the lingering tear. "Anytime," she replied, her voice full of sincerity. "Now, let's take the day easy, shall we? No need to rush or push yourself. Just… be."
Arpious nodded, feeling a small but significant sense of relief. She knew she was in good hands, that the witch would take care of her, and for the first time in a long while, she allowed herself to lean on someone else, to accept the care being offered.
