Jim stepped out of the darkness of the tunnels and into the light with a new plan and a new direction. Every time he went into the tunnels, they seemed to have that effect on him. Even though he felt certain about what he needed to do, he wanted to sleep on it. Jim knew that what he was contemplating doing was unlike anything else that he had ever done in his life. Jim had made life and death decisions before. Sometimes, he chose well. Other times, he didn't. But those decisions only affected him and those around him. The decision he was making now would have far greater ramifications than that. This decision would affect people that Jim had never met, that Jim never would meet. It had the potential to affect everyone on the planet, including those who weren't even born yet. Those were the ones he was doing this for.
