Caroline watched his eyes open wide in shock.
His pupils dilated, and his lips parted. If she wasn't wrong, then for a moment, he even stopped breathing.
He took a step away from her as if he wanted to reprocess what he had heard, and his expressions were enough to tell her that she was right. He indeed was a fallen angel.
So without even waiting for him to say a word or respond, she pulled the bag that he had dropped in an attempt to rescue her.
"I am not letting you go before you answer my questions." And she pulled him along the entire platform length and then crossed the stairs in haste.
"Caroline, listen to me!"
"We will talk later." She held her hand so tight that her palms had started to sweat even in December.
Once out of the station, she tossed his bag into the back seat of her car and opened the passenger side of the door. "Get in!"
