Capítulo 83: Ch.83 A series of unfortunate events...
Kris is now on the comms with Corporal Hicks, Ripley, Burke, on the other side, and with Ferro right beside him on this end.
After escaping the Xenomorph nest they contacted Ferro on the transport. As Kris was busy with the Drones that found their way towards the dropship.
They began by informing him that the Lt. and Sgt. are incapacitated, and he's on the reins now.
They then wanted his opinion on what they should do, now that they have confirmed that xenomorphs are indeed the cause of the colonist's disappearance.
He then agreed with what Ripley suggested, so he called in Bishop, and the rest of the players.
It would have seemed they were also attacked by the Xenomorph Drones, as they have lost Spunkmeyer in the process.
They boarded the dropship with two containers filled with the face huggers.
When they were strapped in, and ready.
They then flew towards the others location to pick them up, and return to orbit where they could nuke the facility.
As they were on their way to the site the sun was beginning to go down, and the clouds are beginning to darken.
As if a storm was about to hit, so Kris told Ferro to floor it. As it would be shyty luck to get caught in a storm in this situation.
When they arrived in the area, the Lt. was already on a stretcher carried by the four people remaining from the original squad. While Newt followed beside them.
As they boarded the dropship, they weren't aware that in the prior fight acidic blood managed to land on one of the dropships thrusters.
Which have fully melted it by now, and is unable to produce enough lift to bring them into orbit.
And when they tried to contact the Sulaco for a pick up. Due to the ionization build up caused by the storm that was brewing. What they only heard was some static.
Kris told them that he could replace the thrusters but, he has to look for an appropriate replacement which could be found within the facility they were at before.
And with the carrier(APC) being in its shape now, it wont bring them their. So the only choice they have is to take the dropship, and fly in low altitude. But, they have to lighten the load for that to be possible.
They hastily got rid of all the none essentials, and some of the weapons on the dropship.
They just set them down on the spot to save time, as Newt warned them that most of the Xenomorph come out when its dark.
When they were done it was just about sun down. Everyone boarded the dropship, Kris was the last one to board as he had stealthily placed the weapons that was discarded into his magic bag.
Ferro had to fly lower than what they expected due to the strong winds, and had to dodge some obsticles along the way causing them to take longer to arrive at the south facility complex.
Midway it started raining, by the time they got there. The storm had hit full blown, Ferro was unable to land the dropship into the hanger due to the limited visibility.
Kris, asked Vasquez, and Hudson to carry torch lights and assist Ferro in taking the dropship in.
The rest went in the facility, and started barricading the access tunnel that leads towards their location. To buy time until repairs were done on the dropship.
By the time Ferro, Vasquez, and Hudson got in. The perimeter had already been set up. What's left is to install the turrets on the other side of the access doors.
Hudson, and Vasquez volunteered to do the task. While Kris looked thru the colony's database, and search the manifold for any acquisition requests for the type of thrusters they needed, or something similar.
While the rest started talking about their encounter with the Xenomorphs, and how the colonist were attacked.
Ripley took the lead, and asked,"So why did they decide to stay directly under the main terraforming facility?
Bishop was the one who answered but he just gave the functions, and process on how it worked.
"Yes, Bishop that is very helpful but let's go back to it again."
"The Xenomorph Drones comes, takes the colonists, brings them back thru the tunnel to below the cooling systems, and cocoons them in there so that this parasites could impregnate them to create more Xenomorphs."
"That's like about what, a 150 something more of these things. And this things come from eggs, right? Well, if that's the case who's laying them?" asked Ripley
"Maybe it's something we haven't seen before..." said Bishop.
"You know maybe it's like an ant-hive." said Hudson
"It's Bees, that have hives, Bees." Vasquez said correcting him
"Yeah, and there's this big mama ant, and she's bada*s."
"They're not ants, stupido." said Vasquez
The players present just listened to their by play.
Bishop then said,"Yes the queen."
They were about to continue but, then Kris interupted them.
"Bad News guys, I've checked the manifold and found the part we needed but it says here it was installed in one of the crafts that crashed looking for the earlier missing colonists."
Ripley asked Hicks," How long after we're declared overdue can we expect a rescue?"
Hicks replied,"17 days."
Hudson reacted to those word negatively, "Seventeen *days*? Hey man, I don't wanna rain on your parade, but we're not gonna last seventeen hours! Those things are gonna come in here just like they did before. And they're gonna come in here..."
Kris shut him up by saying, "Hudson pipe down!"
Hudson still added, "...and they're gonna come in here AND THEY'RE GONNA GET US!"
Ripley called him out,"Hudson! This little girl survived longer than that with no weapons and no training." pointing to Newt.
Ripley looked at Newt,"Right?" Newt apes a salute at that.
Private Hudson said sarcasticly,"Why don't you put *her* in charge?"
Zheng looked towards Kris, when he got a nod, He then said.
"Since the dropship is busted, why not just call the other to come pick us up?"
Ferro cut in saying,"If you haven't seen the storm out side the comms signals wont work in this weather!"
Bishop said,"No, the comms might not work but, the guiding systems with it runs on an entirely different patch than the comms, if we could use the dish on site to boost the signal. We only need a second to activate the retrieve directive."
Ripley said,"Well, somebody's gonna have to go out there. Take a portable terminal, go out there and patch in manually."
Private Hudson said,"Oh yeah, sure! With those things runnin' around? You can count me out."
Corporal Hicks added,"Yeah, I guess we can just count you out of everything, Hudson."
Bishop said "I'll go." but nobody heard him.
Private Hudson answered Hick, "That's right, man."
Bishop said," I'll go." for the second time but was still ignored.
Private Hudson pointed at Zheng,"Hey, why don't *you* go, man!"
Bishop said more loudly this time,"I'll go."
Ripley heard him over the argueing this time, and asked,"What?"
Everyone heard Ripley, and curiosly stayed quite to listen to what Bishop has to say.
Bishop said "I'll go. I mean, I'm the only one qualified to remote-pilot the ship anyway."
Private Hudson then says,"Yeah right, man, Bishop should go."
Vasquez looks at Hudson with disgust.
Private Hudson was not phased by the stare, and addes,"Good idea!"
Bishop looks at him, and said,"Believe me, I'd prefer not to. I may be synthetic, but I'm not stupid."
This causes Kris to snort, and said,"For an artificial person you have spunk!"
Then alarms started blaring, Bishop runs towards the console, and says,"It's the fission reactors they're overheating. The fire fight under the cooling system might have damage it. An eminent melt down will occur in 4 hours."
"Hey we already have a way out of this place, we will be out of here by then." said Hudson
And added,"What's the worst that could happen?"
Then the lights went out.
