Capítulo 34: Chapter 34: A New Life (Part 1)

Jake's POV

I sat down at a section of the Soul Tree, sighing with exhaustion. I had managed to negotiate a break, before launching the attack towards the base. I was hoping Max was okay, the panic before he cut the camera before the assault worried me. We had already lost Ben, Grace and now Trudy. Plus, Norm was almost killed. I was hoping the list wouldn't get any longer.

Voice: You look exhausted, Jake.

Me: You have no idea, Ben!

I paused, thinking back to what I had just said in disbelief, before looking up at the source of the voice. In front of me stood an avatar

of a medium size, with a particular build. His face showed a young man of my age, but I could see our difference by his amused look.

Me: Ben?! But you're dead! Didn't we burn your body?

He sighed, before giving me a slap on the back of my head.

Me: What?

Ben: It's from Grace. She asked me to do it, to punish you for your stupidity with the House Tree.

I had a nervous laugh at that statement. I could see Grace doing that to me, indeed. But wait...

Me: You saw Grace?!

Ben: Yes, Jake. And all I have to do is go away for three days, and you'll get your stripes! Look at that! Sixth Toruk Makto!

Me, smiling: Let's say I acted according to the circumstances.

Ben smiles: I'm going to end up believing that Eywa likes you!

Me laughing: Don't push it! And I'm already taken!

Ben: With you, it's better to expect everything!

We both laughed and that was enough to calm the atmosphere. And I really needed it, with the latest events.

Neytiri's POV

With hesitation and impatience, I was looking for my partner to tell him the good news. I was looking for him towards the chiefs, but I could not find him. So I began to inspect every nook and cranny, when I recognized his laughter accompanied by another. I hurried over there and saw him sitting at the Soul Tree. Next to him, another uniltiranyu whose energy seemed to be linked with another, whom I knew only too well. That of my sister. Thus, it was her partner.

So I walked towards them, with a light step, until they saw me. Jake smiled brightly at me, while his friend looked at me with a smile, too, but out of curiosity.

Jake: My love! There you are!

Uniltiranyu: Your love? Hey, did I miss an episode?

Me: Jake and I did tsahaylu.

He looked at us, with a surprised eye.

Uniltiranyu: What?!

Jake smiling, happy: Yes. A lot has happened in such a short time.

He looked at me with that same fire, on our night of union. And I couldn't help but do the same, caught in his charm. To the point of forgetting my sister's partner for a moment.

Uniltiranyu: I see that!

I turned towards him, looking at him from head to toe. He looked young but had a strange glow in his eyes. His build, too, was strange to say the least. I never had a dream walker like that. Or any member of the People, for that matter.

Me: What is your name?

He stood up and greeted me with respect, even bowing to me.

Uniltiranyu: My name is Ben, but I was given the name Tsylan.

Ben....This name sounded familiar to me . However, I will focus on this detail later.

Me: Jake...I have something to tell you. It's very important.

My love looked at me with a worried look on his face and stood up, wrapping me in his arms.

Jake: What is it, my love?

I was about to talk when my sister's partner cut me.

Tsylan: Uh... I'll have to leave you two alone. I'm clearly intruding.

Me: You should see Lutsey.

Tsylan: Good idea. Do you know where she is?

Me pointing at her: With Mother, in her personal quarters.

Tsylan: Thank you. Jake, do you have a helmet?

The request surprised us and we looked at it, in amazement.

Jake: Why is that?

Tsylan: I think I need it, soon.

I didn't understand it at first. Then I soon saw what he was getting at, and I laughed in advance.

Jake: Neytiri?

Me: I'm sorry, Tsylan, but you're going to have to find something else.

He sighed, looking up at the sky.

Tsylan: It's worth coming back, to have a headache at the end!

With those words, he left, leaving us alone at last. My love finally turned towards me, his face a little worried.

Jake: What did you want to tell me, my love?

Me: Jake... It's very important, but...It's hard to say.

Jake: I'll always be there to listen to you, Neytiri. Take as much time as you need.

I took a deep breath, before I spoke, right into my eyes and taking my courage.

Me: Eywa blessed me with your child, Jake.

He looked at me with eyes wide open in surprise, starting to frighten me.

Jake: What? You mean....

Me: Yes. I'm carrying our child, Jake.

He had a brief silence between the two of us, making me nervous about what was going to happen next.

Suddenly he carried me and turned us around.

Jake: I'm going to be a father! I'm going to be a father! I never thought it would ever happen!

I laughed, before he put me down and we bonded on both fronts in an emotional embrace.

Me: Ma yanwetu...

Jake: My beautiful flower...

And with these words, we shared a tender and happy smile, thinking of a radiant future and of our new member, who is growing inside me.

Lutsey's POV

No sooner had I woken up than I felt a devouring hunger. I had eaten before taking my nap, but now I really wanted to eat. I was greedily swallowing the fruits and various foods that my mother had brought in anticipation. My mother looked at me with an amused look on her face.

Me: What's funny, Mother?

Mother: Even when you are pregnant, you still eat with the same energy.

I blushed as I swallowed my last piece of fruit, which made her smile even more. Suddenly I heard footsteps coming closer and I turned my head to see a face I never expected to see again. My love, Tsylan, smiling. Seeing him was enough to bring joy to my heart, but also anger. How could he dare to abandon me for three days?

Tsylan: Hello, my tigress.

I answered him, standing up and slapping him so hard that there was a clapping sound on his cheek.

Tsylan rubbing his cheek: Ouch!!!!

I heard my mother laughing. As for me, I crossed my arms, angry.

Me: How dare you leave me, ALONE, for 3 DAYS ???????

I saw him making a face as he continued to rub the cheek where I had previously struck. He sighed, rolling his eyes, before answering me with his arrogant calm, which annoyed me to the core.

Tsylan: Seriously? Not even a hug or a "I missed you, my love"?

Me: You abandoned me!

I heard my mother laughing in the corner and even my angry look didn't stop her.

Tsylan, annoyed: You talk as if I had a choice!

Me: You stayed I don't know how long, sleeping on the grass!

Tsylan: I only slept when you appeared, tiger!

Me: And did you think about me?

Tsylan: As if I had forgotten...

Me: So why didn't you come back?

Tsylan: If going past Eywa was so easy, I would have brought you back memories!

I remained silent for a moment, analyzing what he had just said.

Me: What? You...Why?

Mother: Your partner doesn't have a heavenly body anymore. He is now a full Na'vi.

I looked again, Tsylan, waiting for confirmation from him.

Tsylan, sighing: It's true. I have chosen to stay with you, my tigress, because you have given me honest love and I must watch your back.

I jumped on her arms, happy and with tears in my eyes. For the first time, a person I loved and thought was lost had come back to me. He held me in a loving embrace, before whispering words that set my heart on fire.

Tsylan: I will be there, my tigress. You'll never be alone again.

Me: Promise?

Tsylan smiling: I promise.

We stayed for a while, savoring our reunion and peace after these last terrible days. I didn't know how long it would last. Unfortunately, Mother suddenly cut us off, interrupting this moment of peace.

Mother: Lutsey, I think you have something to say to your partner.

He finally noticed my mother and took several steps away, surprised.

Tsylan: Nang! Ma Mo'at! Uh... (laughs) I see you! I'm sorry, I'm sorry.

She cut it off with a gesture of her hand, always smiling.

Mother: I've been watching your discussion, and I understand now why my daughter loves you. You have a strong heart but you are gentle and protective. I could feel the sincerity in your words.

Tsylan: Well... It's an honor to know you! I've heard a lot about you!

Mother: From Jake Sully?

Tsylan smiling nervously: Indeed.

Mother: I guess you are aware that Jake Sully, has bonded with my oldest daughter?

Tsylan: Yes. I'm sorry again for the trouble he has caused you.

Me: You are in no way responsible, Tsylan. Unless you knew about his misdeeds in advance.

Tsylan: Oh! You, I see you coming!

Mother laughed, again, when she saw my inquisitive gaze in front of a Tsylan responding in the same way. That had the gift of making me nervous, as usual.

Mother: You go so well together!

Me smiling: I know it, Mother. He is my half, after all.

Tsylan: I'll join you on that. Even if I have some things to say, about how you express your love.

Me offended: What's that supposed to mean?

Tsylan: You know very well what I mean!

Once again, Mother laughed as she saw us fighting orally. How he could annoy me when he was looking for me!

Mother: Well, he has the right to know.

Tsylan: To know what?

I noticed surprise and curiosity in his voice. I had hoped to have more time to prepare myself to tell him, but it seems that Mother didn't hear it in that ear.

Tsylan: What is she talking about, Lut?

I was hesitant and I was looking at my mother for advice. But she motioned to me, making it clear that she would not help me. Sighing, I turned to my partner, the fear of her reaction in my heart.

Me: Tsylan...We...

I searched for my words, trying to find the right way to tell her.

Tsylan: We?

Me: We...are going to be parents.

Tsylan's reaction confirmed my fears. I could see surprise and nervousness.

Tsylan: Nang! What?

Me: I'm pregnant, Tsylan.

He remained silent for a moment, looking at me up and down, confused.

Me: Tsylan...

Tsylan smiles: You know what, I couldn't imagine a better person on Pandora to carry my child than you, my tigress.

Me: You...

Tsylan: No. Why should I be?

Hearing that answer was a great relief to my heart, and I would take refuge in her embrace, with a happy smile on my face.

Tsylan: On the other hand, I'm already scared about the pregnancy.

I would step back and give her a vexed look.

Me: Tsylan!!!

Tsylan: What?

My mother was still laughing as I was watching my partner. He looked at me, with a sheepish look on his face.

Mother: I can't prove her wrong, my daughter.

Me: Thank you! I feel supported!

Tsylan: On the one hand, you are a person of character. So with a child, it's going to be a party!

Me: You, keep your sarcasm!

Suddenly, Mother stopped laughing and went to my partner.

Mother: You have returned as Na'vi, Tsylan. But you did not come back unscathed. I feel a connection with our Mother.

Me: Nang! Nang! What?

He rolled his eyes and wagged his tail, betraying his annoyance. I knew my partner well enough to know that he didn't like this kind of connection, knowing what it meant.

Tsylan: That's the truth, Lut. I heard Eywa's voice as she ordered our brothers and sisters in the mountains and the forest to attack the People of Heaven.

That meant...That he would have to be Tsahik.

Mother: You form an exceptional couple. Rare was an Olo'eyktan woman. Even more a Tsa'hik man.

Tsylan: Yippee!

This disillusioned reaction surprised Mother, but not me. Quite the contrary.

Me: Mother, could you leave us alone? We have a lot to digest.

Mother: I understand, my daughter.

With these words, she walked away, leaving us alone.

Tsylan sighs: Great! I'm a shaman now! Of all the people she chose, it had to be me !

Me: I understand, my love, but... You know that a chief and Tsahik are peers.

Tsylan: Joltsyn could continue her role.

Unfortunately, it wasn't like that...

Me: Tsylan, the chief and the Tsahik are peers and are together. That's how it works. I'm sorry to have to impose this on you.

He sighed again, from weariness.

Tsylan: Well well, I didn't want to be a ruling class, so I guess you could say that all my projects are on the rocks!

I approached him, putting my arms on his shoulders and crossing my legs with his. I gave him a big mischievous smile, my forehead sticking to his.

Me: But you earned a lot in return, didn't you?

He answered me, with a big smile.

Tsylan: That's true.

With those words, he kissed me with all his love. Then I had an image of him as a Tsahik and I couldn't help laughing.

Tsylan: What makes you laugh?

Me: I just imagined you in a Tsahik outfit.

He sighed, while I was laughing, not being able to get rid of this image.
