Capítulo 11: Chapter 10

I DREADED LUNCH TIME.

I watched with wide eyes as the handle of the clock moved forward. With each passing minute, I willed for it to magically stop. But there was nothing I could do, and as soon as the shrill of the school bell rang out at exactly one o'clock.

I wasn't entirely sure if Xeros remembered what I had said yesterday, and some part of me hoped he hadn't. Just thinking about what I had said made my cheeks heat up in embarrassment.? How did I have the guts to say something like that? Had he secretly laughed at me when I left?

While everyone else stood up, excited to go to lunch, it felt like there was heavy weight, pulling down on my shoulders. Doubts and insecurities ran through my mind, whirring around inside me and I was unable to stop it. How humiliating would it be if he didn't remember? What if I brought it up and he was confused? What if he changed his mind and didn't want to go with me anymore?

I rested my face in my hands, letting out a loud, frustrated groan.
