They'd even forced a flower into Cherry's hair. Ermos had to stifle a laugh when he saw it. She'd fumed at that, but she'd been unable to hide her embarrassment.
The Earl nodded at what she said. "I'd heard something like that. What I wish to know are the details. What sort of enemies did you face? How strong were they? How did they fight?"
"That… I can't say too much," Cherry said apologetically. "We only fought the weaker skeletons. Even then, it took three of us to take one of them down. From the others, we had to run. We had no choice."
"You're very brave to do as you did," the princess said sweetly to Cherry. "I could never manage to do something like that."
"Thank you… for your kind words, my lady," Cherry said, "but as I said, we only ran. It was not bravery, but fear."
"No, but you're a woman, aren't you? And you're fighting alongside men. You're really brave. You're like a fairy tale," the princess pressed.
