Emery decided the best course of action was to reveal the mystery of the patriarch's voice. His first instinct was to speak with the Ouroboros Queen, but her current beast transformation made discussion difficult. Instead, Emery chose to approach the viceroy.
The viceroy, still hovering in mid-air and directing the grand magus forces, was not amused by Emery's interruption. "Huh! Why would the patriarch speak to you?"
Even though Emery spoke the truth, the viceroy dismissed his words, believing the primal transformation had clouded Emery's mind. His stern expression conveyed his lack of belief and his frustration at what he considered a distraction. "Retreat, and stay out of the way!" he commanded.
At that tense moment, King Severus the Wise approached them.
"Viceroy, I think it's worth a try."
