Capítulo 42: Kanamara family dinner
TIME : 8:01PM
LOCATION : KANAMARA MANSION.
"I can't believe your dad actually invited me over for dinner."
Sai remarks as he stares at the wonderful edifice before him. The mansion was quite a sight to behold with its outlook being one of grandeur and splendor.
"Why so surprised??"
Ilara asks with a smile.
"What do you mean by, why so surprised, this has never happened before…. I wonder what made him invite me over this time."
Sai questions with a suspicion.
"maybe it has to do with a certain someone threatening to not come over again except you're invited as well."
Ilara replies with a grin.
"Wait a minute, babe did you threaten your dad with not coming over again except he invited me as well??"
Sai asks wide eyed.
"Yeah."
Ilara replies with an air of excitement.
"Why would you do such a thing??"
Sai asks with a worry that certainly puts off Ilara.
"Huh…. I thought you'd be happy that I did that."
Ilara says with a sudden doubt.
"I would but this is your dad we are talking about here even if he budged cause he wants to see you that doesn't mean this dinner is gonna be all daisies for me."
Sai explained with a worry.
"Oh now that you put it like that, I guess I did make a mistake… Sorry bout that."
Ilara replies with a worried look.
"Hmm, don't worry about it. Hopefully we don't face too much drama tonight."
Sai remarks with a calm voice.
"Yeah, hopefully."
Ilara chips in.
"We should head inside so as to not keep them waiting."
Sai says after which he and Ilara begin to walk towards the edifice before them.
Sai and Ilara are welcomed at the front door by a butler who seemed to be waiting for them.
He is dressed in a black suit with a monocle on his left eye. He appears to be in his fifties with a calm demeanor and his right arm placed behind his back.
"Ms Ilara, it's so nice to meet you, you're late."
The butler says with a calm.
"Gin, it's really nice that you're the one that comes to welcome us, I'm really sorry for being late, we had some work."
Ilara replies as she proceeds to give the butler a hug.
"Mr Kisoka, it's nice to finally meet the man who has been taking care of my pimpim. I really do hope that you won't ever do anything to hurt her."
Gin remarks as he greets Sai.
"Nice to meet you too, uh..."
Sai begins.
"Gin Deko."
The butler replies.
"Mr Deko, who is pimpim??"
Sai asks with peaked interest.
"Oh yeah, pimpim is the title Gin calls I and my sister whenever we are together. we came up with it when we were younger…. Gin has been there since I and my sister were little kids."
Ilara comments has she places her arm underneath Gin's arm.
"And watching you two grow was exceedingly tiring."
Gin teases with a smile.
"Oh c'mon that's not fair."
Ilara let's out a laugh with Sai joining in.
"Well it would seem Ilara has always been troublesome."
Sai says between burst of laughter with Ilara pouting.
"No fair. Both of you are ganging up to tease me."
Sai and Gin laugh for a little while longer before they are forced to coordinate themselves at the sound of a familiar voice.
"Gin… are Ilara and Sai here??"
Mrs. Kanamara asks as she walks towards the door.
"Yes ma'am, Ilara and Mr Kisoka are here."
Gin replies with a calm.
"Mother!!!"
Ilara yells as she runs towards her mother and giver her a tight hug.
"My daughter, I've missed you, you look well."
Nia remarks as she stares down her daughter after they had broken the hug.
"Well…"
Ilara is about to speak before another familiar voice cuts her off.
"Ilara!!!"
Ilara turns to face her younger sister Nara who rushes to her and gives her a tight hug inadvertently carrying as she did so.
"I'm so happy you're back."
Nia exclaims as she continues to hug her sister.
"Nara....You're hugging to tight."
Ilara groans as she struggles to get free.
"I'm sorry."
Nara apologizes as she sets her sister down.
"just got a little excited with your presence."
Ilara gives her a loving smile before hugging her.
"it's nice to see my younger sister happy."
"Well that's because you're here now."
Nia remarks as she stands beside the two sisters.
Sai coughs to get the attention of the family.
"Sai… how are you."
Nia says with a smile as she gestures to him to come forward.
"I'm fine."
Sai replies as he hugs Nia.
Nara breaks out of her hug with Ilara to face Sai.
"So you've been keeping my sister with you without thinking about her family, right??"
Nara says with a sass.
"Nara!!"
Ilara cautions.
"It's fine…. Well I didn't really mean to keep her for so long, accept my humble apologies."
Sai remarks with a calm voice and a mock bow causing Nara to chuckle.
"Well I won't be forgiving you that easily…"
Nara trails off as another person joins them at the door.
"Is that you, Ilara??"
Kame asks as he walks towards the little gathering at the front door.
"Father!!!"
Ilara exclaims and runs towards Kame to give him a tight hug.
"How are you, my beautiful daughter??"
Kame asks calmly as he gives Ilara a tight hug.
"I've been well father, thank you for honoring my request over inviting Sai as well."
Ilara says with a smile.
"Anything for my daughter."
Kame replies after which he fixes his gaze on Sai and glares at him with an annoyance.
"Good evening sir, it's nice to see you again…. I appreciate the gesture of inviting me for dinner, I promise you won't regret it."
Sai approaches Kame but stops at the intense gaze Kame gave him.
"I hope I won't."
Kame responds after which he returns his gaze to his daughter.
"Let us sit, we have a lot to talk about."
Kame says after which they all head into the sitting room.
Capítulo 43: Kanamara family dinner II
"So how's everything at your new, what do you call it again??"
Kame asks as he receives a glass of wine from Gin.
"Private Investigation firm…. It's going great actually, we've been trying to take down all of Cheng's associates that are still in the city."
Ilara replies with a smile.
The sitting room is quite lavish in setting with several antique paintings placed on the wall, lamps with intricate designs, beautifully designed chairs and tables that were nothing short of works of art.
The lighting in the room was appropriate so everyone could see what the other was doing. The room was also quite spacious with enough space for thirty people to move around with space between them.
With the décor of the room it was clear to see that Mr Kanamara was a man of affluence and Mrs. Kanamara was a woman of class and expensive taste.
Kame is engaged in deep conversation with Ilara while Nara and Nia chip in.
Sai is left completely out of the conversation causing him to excuse himself one too many times.
He ended up making small talk with Gin who was quite busy most of the time.
Sai knew coming over was a bad idea but still felt he had to make a good impression on Kame so that his and Ilara's relationship could move on to the next level.
"I really do love her a lot."
Sai remarks as he stares at Ilara from a distance.
"That's very clear to see, Mr Kisoka but I'm sure you know that even though Ilara is willing to go against her family for your sake. She still cares for them deeply… if you plan on taking her away from her family without first coming to terms with them, is that fair on a girl that loves both you and her family equally and would never want to put one over the other??"
Gin replies with a calm as he offers Sai a glass of wine.
"I guess you're right, I can't take our relationship to the next step without first convincing her family that I'm the right one for her…. This is all just too much for one man. I wish my father were here, I'm sure he would have given me some worthwhile advice on how to woo Ilara's family."
Sai comments with a smile as he takes a sip from his glass.
"I hope you find a way, Mr Kisoka… I really do hope you do. I can see that you really are the best choice for Ilara but can you convince them??"
Gin adds as he points his finger in the direction of were Ilara and her family sat.
They looked so happy as they chatted and laughed. Sai stared for a while before letting out a smile….

Tension is present at the dinner table as the members of the Kanamara house sit for dinner with Mr Kame sitting at the helm of the table with Nia sitting at his right and Ilara sitting at his left with, Nara sat beside Nia while Sai sat beside Ilara.
Maids swarm around them serving their meal and setting the table; the setting is quite sumptuous and enticing to say the least with several assortments of tasty cuisine enough to water the mouth.
"So uhmm dad, there's something I'd like to tell you."
Ilara remarks to her father.
"Yes, what's that??"
Kame replies with keen interest.
Sai and Ilara exchange looks for a bit before Ilara turns back to face Kame and begins to speak.
"Well you see Sai and I were approached by a D.O.D scout to think about the prospect of taking part in the defense exams which would be taking place in a month's time."
Kame coughs a little bit before staring at Ilara with a deathly stare.
"What are you talking about??... You got invited to join the D.O.D, that's so nice."
Nia exclaims with a smile on her face.
"So my sister will soon be part of an elite group of law enforcers, that's super cool."
Nara muses.
"Well we haven't gotten in yet, we have to pass the exams of course."
Sai says with a smile.
"Enough of this nonsense. It was hard to accept you entering the police force due to the fact that you were putting your life on the line for others but now you want to go and join an even dangerous team, what's wrong with you??... Would you ever listen to your father speak or you'll just do what you like… I'm sure this change came as a result of this hooligan sitting at our table getting involved with you."
Kame says with a bitter look.
"Father!!! I'll ask that you talk to Sai with respect, please… He has no hand in the making of this decision to join the D.O.D, it's a personal decision made after I carefully weighed my options."
Ilara says trying to hold back her annoyance at her father's reaction.
"So if you've already made up your mind, why are you telling me??... To spite me?? To make me realize that I have no say with what happens in your life??.... Why exactly did you say anything?? You could have just left without saying a word."
Kame bellows.
"I told you because I needed your blessings. I need your support more than ever because this path I'm about to undertake is a perilous journey and I need the support of my family to be able to do this without getting worried that I might fail… that's why I told you."
Ilara replies as she counts her words carefully.
"Sir, I can understand very well that till the day you die you'll never acknowledge my existence in your daughter's life but right now your daughter needs your support. Forget anything about me and support your daughter with her decision, I'm sorry for being such a wedge in your family affairs…. I'll excuse myself now."
Sai remarks after which he rises from the dinner table with his meal untouched and heads out towards the front door.
Kame stares for a while into nothingness before calling out to Sai.
"You may come and sit, I have invited you for dinner… It would be rude to leave without having dinner."
Kame begins after which he turns towards Ilara to speak to her.
"You always were quite stubborn and I guess I can't change that now but promise me you'll take care of yourself."
Ilara gives off a big smile as Sai comes back to take his seat.
"Thank you dad."
Ilara says as she stands to hug Kame.
"Anything for my daughter."
Kame replies with a forced smile.
