Capítulo 20: Time for a jail break
TIME : 11:18PM
LOCATION : CALOS CITY PENITENTIARY.
Sai and Ilara wait patiently hoping for their plans to work out when they suddenly hear a huge thud at the door like as though someone had just fallen down heavily on the ground.
"What was that?"
Ilara asks has she rises to her feet.
They soon hear the clanking of keys and their prison door being unlocked.
Sai and Ilara ready themselves for a fight but Sai immediately drops his guard once he saw the person that was standing at the door.
"Rani."
Sai announces with relief.
"You came after all, I did not think you would help out."
Sai remarks as he puts his hand to the back of his head and smiles.
"Is she the nurse that you gave our plans to??"
Ilara asks to which Sai responds in the affirmative with a nod of his head.
"I'm only doing this cause you asked so nicely and also cause you're cute."
Rani says with a smile.
"Excuse me??"
Ilara doesn't approve of Rani's flirting and is very open over her discomfort.
Sai immediately starts feeling awkward and makes to leave the cell.
He goes outside and sees the two officers that were supposed to be guarding their cell on the floor out cold.
"What happened to them??"
Sai turns to ask Rani.
"I may or may not have drugged them" Rani replies with a smile.
"How??"
Ilara asks as she steps out of the cell to take a look.
"Well lucky for you guys after Sai had come to me asking for my help. I thought about it for a while after which both of them came into the infirmary when I wasn't around and were talking about you guys and how they were planning on taking you guys out soon, after I heard that I knew I had to help out in whatever way I could so I came in and asked them what they came for, they told me they wanted a drug to help stay the night but I gave them slow working sedatives so I could get other things done."
Rani answers as she closes the door behind them.
"Wow you actually did better than I expected."
Sai says with a tone of surprise.
"Wait did you say they were gonna take us out."
Ilara questions with doubt in her voice.
"Well they were talking about a guy they were going to take out tonight so I thought it was Sai, I didn't actually know that he wasn't alone."
Rani replies quickly.
"Hmm."
Ilara glances at Sai, who seems to be lost in thought.
"I think they were talking about Dan."
Ilara says with a worried look on her face.
Rani stares at both detectives and feels quite uneasy with the tension brewing.
"What now??"
"Now we head to the wardens office to find out where Dan is being kept."
Ilara says as she begins to walk down the hall with Sai and Rani behind her.
"Who's this Dan guy we're going to rescue and why is rescuing him so important that you guys are willing to risk your freedom for him??"
Rani asks with curiosity.
"Yeah babe, why is it so important??"
Sai teases.
Ilara stops and looks at both before replying.
"Well for one we know Dan has been on the Harlem case way longer than we have even though he doesn't realize it just yet which would mean he might have reasonable Intel on Cheng and his circle.. Secondly, the fact that he is here around the same time that we are here sparks suspicion. What if Cheng also got to him somehow, I mean the Dan we met at that alleyway was way more fun than the sad lump we saw today… We need to find him and quickly."
Ilara begins to walk again and Sai along with Rani move with her.
"Rani you know you don't have to follow us on this, you've done your part…. You should leave now before things get out of hand."
Sai remarks as he holds Rani back.
"Really??.... Even after I risked my life and career to get you out of there, you are just going to send me away like I'm useless??"
Rani is quite disappointed.
"It's not like you're useless but…"
Sai tries to collect his words so as to not offend Rani.
"You'll hold us back."
Ilara replies bluntly.
"it would be best if you leave now."
Rani is offended by what Ilara said and was about to say something before Ilara dragged them and they placed their backs on the wall to their right.
"what??"
Sai asks while trying to take a peek.
"Guards…. 5 of them if I'm not mistaken, all armed."
Ilara looks back at Rani.
"Things are about to get real, you sure you still wanna stick around."
Rani doesn't appreciate Ilara and her condescending tone towards her.
"I think I'll be fine, you don't have to worry about me."
Sai can't handle the tension brewing between Ilara and Rani so decides not to get involved…
The guards talk amongst themselves as they play cards but are soon interrupted by Sai.
"Hey guys, so I was looking for the bathroom and I seem to have lost my way."
Sai remarks in his usual cocky tone.
"Yo that's the detective that got arrested along with his partner yesterday, what the hell are you doing out of your cell??"
The guards abandon their game and begin to walk towards Sai.
"Well as I said, I'm just looking for the bathroom."
The guards pause for a moment and look at themselves before looking back at Sai.
"Get back in your cell right now."
One of the guards attempts to grab Sai but is unsuccessful as Sai grabs his hand and pushes it back.
The other guards don't take lightly to this and immediately gang up to beat up Sai.
Sai evades a punch from one of them and uses his knee to hit his stomach before using his left elbow and fist to deliver three consecutive hits to his face which knocks him out.
Another guard tries to hit him but is also unsuccessful. Sai bends low and fists his stomach twice before delivering another hit to his chest and then finishing him off with a powerful punch to the face.
Sai is tripped by one of the guards bayonet and evades being stabbed by it.
He rolls to the left and then does some flashy acrobatics to get back on his feet.
Seeing that two guards were coming at him with bayonets. He grabs the broom behind him and breaks off it's sweeping end, using the stick to defend against the onslaught of both guards.
He hits the bayonet out of one of the guards arms and uses his stick to jab him in his groin before bending low to avoid the attack from the other guard at his back, then turns around to strike the guard with his stick causing the guard to yell a bit after which he strikes the guard on the head knocking him out.
He blocks the punch from the previous guard and proceeds to weaken his legs with kicks to his thighs before striking his stick square on the guard's forehead.
The last guard makes to shoot but is knocked out by a stone smashing into his temple, Sai looks back to see who had done that and it so happens to be Rani.
"Who's the dead weight now??"
Rani asks with a little sass which causes Sai to chuckle a bit.
Ilara sees this and seems to be having none of it as she steps forward and continues on her way to the wardens office.
"Hey wait up."
Sai calls out softly as he and Rani follow Ilara.
"Is she always this grumpy??"
Rani asks as they go up a flight of stairs.
"Nah she's mostly cheerful actually, kinda also wondering what she could be so tensed up about."
Sai replies with a worry.
"You guys do realize that I can hear your conversation…"
Ilara comments as she continues walking up the stairs but then abruptly comes to a halt.
"Oh shit."
Before them are two guards armed with bayonets and they had spotted Ilara.
Before they can speak Ilara and Sai rush towards them and take them to the ground before delivering blows to knock them out.
"you guys are like a welled oiled machine."
Rani says with a chuckle before reaching out to open the door…
Capítulo 21: Time for a jail break II
The warden sits at his desk grumbling to himself at how he was forced to stay up so late looking over people he would care less about.
"I'd rather be at home reading magazines than staying in this shithole."
He mumbles to himself, he is jolted out of his thoughts by the thud he heard at the door.
"I wonder what that is."
He thinks to himself.
"Anyone there??"
He asks but receives no response.
"Hmm."
The warden grows suspicious and reaches under his desk for his shotgun.
"Who's there??"
He asks as he rises to his feet.
"Still no response."
He mutters to himself as he cocks his gun and begins to slowly walk towards the door.
upon reaching the door, he hesitates to open it and asks one more time.
"Is anyone out there??"
The other side of the door remains dead silent.
"Why aren't the guards answering me??"
He wonders as he makes to open the door.
Just as he starts to turn the door knob the door is forcefully jerked open from outside and ends up making contact with the warden knocking him down and his gun out of his reach.
"The hell was that."
the warden says rubbing his temple.
"We need to talk."
Says a voice in front of him.
He tries to reach out for his shotgun but the gun is kicked away before he had a chance to pick it up.
He soon feels hands on his shirt which thugs him to his feet with force.
He struggles to get free but is only successful in agitating his captors.
He is dragged and tied to his chair before he settles down to look at the faces that had just manhandled him.
"You…. How did you guys get out of your cell??"
The warden asks.
Sai and Ilara look at each other with smiles on their faces before turning back to look at him.
"Where are you keeping the variant that was brought in today??"
Ilara asks in haste.
"I don't know who you're talking about. You guys should untie me and get back to your cell before your current situation gets out of hand."
The warden replies angrily.
"Sai, check the prison records and find out where Dan is being kept."
Ilara gestures to Sai who opens the wardens desk drawer and pulls out the prison ledger.
He goes through it for a while before looking back at Ilara.
"So…"
Ilara waits for a response from Sai, "he isn't recorded to be staying here….. It's like he isn't even in here."
Sai replies with a worried look on his face.
the warden let's out a hearty laugh before commenting.
"You guys don't seem to realize the forces you are messing with… your precious Dan is not here and I'll never tell you where he is, so it's best you leave now while you still have a chance of escaping."
The warden remarks with a smile.
Sai and Ilara are not happy about what he had just said and are about to leave when Ilara stops and places her palm on the ground.
"What is she doing we need to get out of here now."
Rani says as she stands outside the office.
"Yeah babe what are you doing??"
Sai asks as well.
"Echolocation."
Ilara replies.
"I'm trying to locate Dan using sound waves, I'm not really good at it and I can't reach a wide area but I'm counting on his metal based abilities to return the sound I just sent out."
The warden struggles to get free so as to stop her but is unsuccessful.
"Are you sure it's going to work??... I mean this prison is pretty big."
Rani remarks with doubt.
"We are all in the same building at this point, the prison itself is big but it comprises of several buildings, I'm just checking this one and…"
Ilara trails off as she picks up something.
"What's wrong??"
Sai takes note of her changed countenance.
"I've found him and I can tell something is not right with him."
Ilara replies as she gets up and starts to walk towards the warden.
"Hey why are you coming towards me like that??"
The warden is thoroughly frightened and struggles to get free but Ilara walks up to him and delivers a big slap to his face that calmed him down immediately.
"I'm only going to ask this once; where are you keeping him??"
Ilara asks in a menacing tone.
"In the basement."
The warden replies with fear in his voice.
"what is he doing there??"
Sai asks inquisitively.
"You guys don't actually think it's the right authorities that ordered for his arrest, right??... He touched the wrong people and now he is being conditioned to work for them."
The warden replies in a sadistic tone but is not left laughing for long as Ilara proceeds to knock him out with a punch.
"We need to go and help him."
Ilara remarks as she adjusts her fist and turns to look at Sai.
"Let's go."
Sai says as they all leave the office and lock the door behind them…

Dan feels light and can't think straight.
"Where am I??.... Why am I tied up to this board??"
He realizes he is being held down by belts and proceeds to try and break free, whilst struggling he hears a voice.
"It's pointless to struggle. You won't be able to make use of your variant ability for a couple of hours and by then I'd be done with the conditioning."
The figure says as he steps forward.
Dan struggles to make out the figure before him. He seemed to be a doctor because of his medical attire but then…..

Sai and Ilara rush down to save Dan and encounter more guards as they make their way to the basement.
"We have to be careful so as to not cause alarm in the prison."
Sai remarks as he held on to a guard via a choke hold and then proceeded to let him go after he had passed out.
"Yeah, let's not waste any time."
Ilara replies as she rose from her hold on a guards throat using her legs.
Rani stands by and is amazed by the level of composure and skills they had.
"Come on."
Sai calls out to her breaking her train of thought and they continued on their way….

Dan feels an injection piercing into his vein and struggles even more.
"Who are you and why are you keeping me here??"
Dan asks.
"I'm the resident doctor of this building… I was sent to help you by my superiors, apparently you are worth a lot to Karan and he did not dim it fit to kill you and so decided on a conditioning your mind to submit to his control."
The doctor answers has he gets about fixing up another injection.
"Really??…. Do you bastards think you'd just give me a few drugs and I'd be on your side??.... Well you are mistaken asshole cause the moment I get out of this, I'm gonna make you pay for trying to help those murderers."
Dan struggles with his chains as he threatens the doctor.
"You won't be getting out of those binds on your own, fool. So it's better you save your strength for what's about to come next."
The doctor says as he puts up another injection with a strange looking liquid and begins to move towards Dan but stops abruptly having heard a sound at the door.
Dan also hears the sound and is curious to know what caused it. The doctor drops the injection and walk towards the door but then the door is kicked open from outside to reveal Sai and Ilara along with Rani.
The doctor tries to attack them but is knocked out by Ilara's bird cry…
"How did you guys find me?? And who is that??"
Dan directs both questions to Ilara.
"Slow down a bit….. We found out where you were from the prison warden and she is Rani."
Ilara points to Rani who then proceeds to wave at Dan.
"Hi" Rani waves cheerfully.
"If that's all, we have to be going now before the guards wake up or someone realizes we are missing."
Sai comments in a haste as he cuts off the last bind holding Dan and proceeds to hold him up.
"Can you still use your metal based abilities??"
Sai asks.
"No, whatever that doctor did to me, I don't think I'll be able to use my abilities for a few hours."
Dan replies with a tired look on his face.
"We should get going, I know a route we could take to leave this place without getting caught."
Rani is standing outside the basement, gesturing for them to follow her.
"Let's go."
Ilara holds on to Dan and they all walk out together...…
TIME : 8:05AM
LOCATION : CALOS CITY POLICE DEPARTMENT.
"What!!!" Gr'egor is fuming.
"How could you let them escape??"
He says into the receiver.
The voice on the other end sounds pretty weak and afraid.
"I honestly don't know how they got away."
Gr'egor seems to be having none of his excuses and proceeds to yell at him even further.
"Do you know what you have done??.... I had kept them there so that their lives won't be in danger but you let them get away, what's more they took another inmate with them… an inmate that has been causing trouble for Cheng, do you know what would happen when Cheng finds out about this, he is gonna kill them both, how could you have made such an error."
Gr'egor is seen pacing the room frantically quite upset by the news he had just received.
"Sir I can assure you that we took measures to make sure they don't escape..i just never took into account the fact that they might get inside help."
The voice gives more excuses.
"I have nothing more to say to you sine you don't seem to realize the gravity of what you've done…. Do not worry, I'll take care of them and you better pray to whatever you believe in that Cheng doesn't end up killing them because of your stupidity."
Gr'egor says after which he drops the cell.
"Why did they do this…. I'm sure they'll end up putting themselves in more trouble, I need to get them back."
Gr'egor thinks to himself after which he picks up his cell and dials a number.
"Send in Jonah and KK, I need to speak to them."
