Nyx looked up as space warped and bent before her eyes. "That's odd."

Gida, holding Kyoda's body on his back, and breathing heavily, looked up as well. "What's… going on?"

Makoto kept her eyes on Nyx. "I… don't think we can… afford to get distracted…"

Nyx looked down at them. "I've been thinking… I'll give the two of you a chance."

Gida and Makoto were caught off guard by her words.

Nyx put her hands behind her back. "If the two of you surrender and pledge your loyalty to me, I will let the two of you live."

Makoto took some steps back. "We— we…"

Gida angrily glared at Nyx. "I'm carrying the dead body of one of my best friends on my back. What kind of sick joke is this?! Now you want me to join you?! I'd rather die!!"

Nyx looked at Makoto. "And you feel the same?"

Makoto was trembling in fear. She was still really shaken up. She managed to clench her fists. "I… I… I won't join you either!!"

Nyx raised her hand. "So be it."
