"Ah-Wang, did you investigate the ashes for me? Are the ashes really not hers?"

"Yes, I have investigated the ashes. According to tests, the ashes belong to a man."

Qie Wang's words startled Xie Xuning. Man? "Ah-Wang, does that mean that Linlang is still alive?"

Qie Wang sighed, then shook his head.

"Xuning, I really don't know if your wife is still alive…," Qie Wang admitted.

"It's my fault. I should have investigated the ashes before..."

In the depths of Xie Xuning's heart, there was regret.

Qie Wang didn't know what to tell Xie Xuning, though he felt sad for him. It wasn't fair for him to blame himself. 

Xie Xuning blamed himself for being too careless…for just accepting what he was given him without question. 

"A-Ning, technology wasn't developed back then," Qie Wang said, trying to console his friend. "Even if you wanted to have the ashes examined, they might not be able to provide you with accurate results."
