The royal entourage reached the kingdom capital and Samantha observed how the entire crowd came to a standstill. Unlike in her village where the people had dropped to their knees to show their respect to the crown, the people here just stood with their heads bowed. This difference in behavior made her frown and she gave a questioning look to the King, who had his eyes fixed on her the entire time.

Alastair raised an eyebrow at her when Samantha turned to meet him in the eye. "Is something the matter, darling?"

His words of endearment sent tingles down Samantha's body and her heart sighed in bliss. Even though she was unwilling to accept it, she knew that she liked it when he addressed her as such. Samantha chose to ignore the butterflies fluttering in her heart and voiced out the confusion. "Milord, why do people treat you differently in the kingdom capital?"
