Capítulo 402: 24

I didn't bother going high this time. The air rushing by was already too cold for the average human to handle for too long. Ethan wasn't the average human so he could take the temperatures. I flared my wings as I came down for a landing an hour later. We hadn't made it to the front lines yet, but we did manage to cross three days of travel on foot in an hour so we were doing well.

I flicked my tail as I blew my flames over my bonded. None of the nearby humans were close enough to see that I was spewing flames on the humans directly. I cut off the flames when the humans got close enough that they might be able to tell what I was doing. Savannah, and Ethan both had dragon scale armor on. That armor absorbed the fire, and warmed them.

Savannah was pleasantly surprised by this. Jax could even feel the heat radiating off the armor. He didn't have his own dragon scale armor. I could feel the pang of jealousy coming from him. Jax didn't have his own dragon scale armor yet.

This was the first time he'd ever expressed a desire to get his own armor. I would have to make sure he got some when we got back. My wings flared as I settled for a short break. I didn't need a break. My bonded on the other hand had been clinging to my back for an hour.

Ethan was fine, but the other two were much more fragile. I would ask Savannah if she wanted me to advance her bond once we reached the frontlines. There would be less people out that far. We'd be able to do it in private since it wasn't exactly a peaceful affair. Ethan mentally agreed with me.

He thought it would be a good idea to advance her bond as well. She'd proven herself to be trustworthy multiple times. She been practicing spell breaking without stop whenever she was alone. I didn't understand why she waited until she was alone. I figured it was a habit she'd gotten from from the judgmental way her father taught her.

She didn't want to showcase her skills until she could use them properly. Spell breaking was something Regala said I didn't have the focus or intelligence to pull off. Savannah, and Jax were both worn out, and needed a nice stretch. They spent about ten minutes walking off the cold, and stiffness that came from clinging to an unsaddled dragon before returning to me to continue our flight south. Ethan jumped straight from the ground to my back as usual.

Not needing an ounce of my help to get there. Savannah, and Jax both sat on my tail, and allowed me to lift them up to my back. I leapt into the air. I'd need to stop more for Jax this time then I did for the other two. The fire mana that the armor absorbed would keep the two of them warm for a good amount of time.

The glow of my eyes pierced through the gloom of the setting sun easily. The faint glow in Ethan's eyes started to become visible in the darkness of the night. I traveled another hour before gliding down to land in one of the few clear spaces in the camp. The further we got from the guild the more men there were. They obviously knew who I was this time around.

They moved to their already ready weapons, but they didn't act on it. I warmed my bonded with my flames again. Allowing the armor to absorb my flames. Focusing more on Jax since he didn't have any armor. I only waited five minutes before taking off again.

Savannah, and Jax both mentally grumbled at me. They wanted to take a better break. I was a little impatient, and they weren't even doing all that bad. I wasn't able to tell how exhausted they were physically speaking, but if they had the energy to complain they weren't going to pass out anytime soon. I used my infrared vision to track the edge of the frontline as I circled down.

I flared my wings wide as I landed just beyond the frontlines. I could smell the stink of the old corpses from here. My lip curled up in disgust. I'd have to burn those corpses or find somewhere else to sleep. I walked toward the line of anti air harpoons.

I stayed in my dragon form as I approached the line. I flicked my tail. I was calm, and slow. I didn't want the humans getting spooked by an approach that was too quick. I stopped about fifteen feet away from the line.

My tail curled around my feet slowly as I sat down calmly. My height forced me to look down on them all. The weapons along the front line were all nearly as tall as me. The bolts meant for launching were twelve feet long. They practically vibrated with power.

These weapons were much more powerful then any other weapon I'd ever seen before. Most of them resonated with water elemental mana. Some were more cold than others. Some of them would have an ice elemental effect. They were far too heavy for a single human being to handle.

I was curious about the bolts, but I wasn't stupid enough to mess with their equipment. I didn't want them accusing me of tampering with their launchers. They already didn't want me here. I wasn't going to add fuel to that fire. My wings pulled in close to my body.

I still looked threatening just because of my sheer size, but at least they could tell that I wasn't actively trying to threaten them. My wings twitched as I settled there. Looking out over the front line in a disinterested manner. Something about my new quest was bothering me a bit. If Erik had enough power to hold me down then why wasn't he going for the reward the military had to be offering for my head.
