Capítulo 25: Chapter 24: Gifts
It was a new day and Noah was in the living room with Ryan, having a discussion.
"Sorry for the state I was in yesterday Noah, I just needed to unwind and get some stuff off my mind"
Ryan started as he looked at Noah, it seems he had been embarrassed about his actions yesterday,but Noah was okay with it, everyone had such down times.
Ryan saw the look on Noah's face and knew he didn't have to say anything else about that and he was relieved.
He brought out 2 devices from his bag and placed them on the table that separated the both of them.
"You once asked me how I was able to receive requests accurately and leave since there was no such utility in town. Well here they are"
Ryan explained as he pointed on the small rectangular devices on the table. The first looked heavier and bulkier than the second one.
"These are pagers, a means of communication that is already mostly outdated and are only used by the special organisations that need to go to places where the coverage of the new systems of communications don't work"
He lifted the bigger and heavier of the devices and opened it showing Noah what it looked liked.
It was a device that flipped on itself, with one side blank and solid, like a protective side, while the other side, which was covered when flipped, having a small screen on its upper end and a sets of button on the lower end.
"This is a two way pager, used by my to contact my organisation, and with the buttons here I can reply and inform them of whatever I find without having to return to the main town, unless necessary"
He placed the pager back on the table as he lifted the smaller one and handing it over to Noah. Unlike the first one, this one wasn't in the flip style.
Instead it had a smaller screen, with 3 sets of 2 buttons, 2 by each side of the screen, and one by the base, leaving on the top side free.
"This here is a one way pager, well not exactly, as it can also send replies, but the replies are preloaded on it and you can only pick of those to answer.
It is mostly used by underlings or young ones just starting out and is just used to be notified of information and changes. The replies on it have been programmed on it and you just use that to reply, depending on the situation.
This one has already been registered to your name with the kingdom's adventurer association, and soon you'd be receiving a quest from them. I did this the last time I went to them"
Ryan said as he watched Noah examined the device with excitement in his eyes.
"I have already preloaded the necessary replies on it and mine and Karl's pager info on it, so you can contact us on it"
Noah stood up dashing on to Ryan before giving him a big hug.
It was the second best present he had received, after the weapon set from Diara.
After calming down, he took the next hour to learn about all he could about how to use the pager from Ryan, that is until a new guest came knocking
The guest was none other than Karl who came dragging a box behind him.
"Ahhh Ryan, why did you give him his graduation present first, I wanted to be the one to do so as his teacher"
Karl grumbled as he set the box on the same the table that had the pagers not too long ago
"Relax Karl, I am also his teacher and I had taught him for much longer than you have, besides I only have him one of his gifts not the other "
"I didn't have the time to give him the other though" Ryan muttered his breath
Noah couldn't believe his ears, as wonderful as it was the pager wasn't the only gift he was goi6to receive today.
"Alright, alright, my turn"
Karl said as he opened the box to reveal, a necklace, 2 fingerless gloves and 18 knives. The gloves and the knives Noah already knew but he could tell they weren't in the same state as when Karl had confiscated them 2 years ago.
"Aye, kiddo you have pretty sharp eyes, you kinda are ruining the fun for me though"
Karl chucked as he grabbed Noah's finger and pricked it with his energy, making his blood flow. Using his energy he made the blood float in the air before using them to draw a rune in the air.
The necklace, the gloves and the set of knives all floated into the air around the blood rune like an array, they glowed red before the blood dissipated turning into steam and integrating with the items.
Afterwards the fingerless gloves and the knives vanished leaving only the necklace.
It had a silver band and a pendant in the form of a dragon's head. It was long enough to be hidden underneath his shirt when worn around Noah's neck.
Karl grabbed the Necklace from the air and handed it over to Noah.
"Kiddo here's my present to you. I wanted to give you a high tier grimiore but your art is such a jealous wife she wouldn't let you cheat on her"
Karl laughed at his own joke while Noah put on the necklace
"Now listen to me, never let anyone lay their eyes on that pendant, always wear it underneath your clothes and never let it part from you, even when you bath or sleep, you had better promise me this or I would be taking away from you"
Noah nodded solemnly as he promised to follow those instructions to the letter.
"Good, now I can tell you all about it."
"Whoever created those knives and gloves did a damn good job on it as you could definitely use them until ascension,
Infact if you had been awakened you could have used the knives to take down all those wolves, without having to go through all that stress, just waves your arms and you done"
But it definitely ignited my fighting spirit and I might have made them a little stronger than I had planned toz but it's for my disciple so it's all good I guess
First off, the rune composition on the gloves and the knives have been upgraded so no you can control the knives with a single thought as long as it's within your range.
You would need some time to get used to it though so for now just use the gloves to control it as you would
The gloves however have been strengthened and turned into a gauntlet, it looks like a normal glove but trust me when I say it has been enhanced and strengthen with some of the strongest materials in existence and again I wonder what I was thinking when I made them"
Karl laughed to himself
"Oh yeah, I got rid of the sheathe cos you don't need them anymore, the necklace is a storage device built specifically for the weapon set, just think about it and the gloves and knives would appear"
Noah did as he was instructed and poof they appeared in the air before all falling to the ground.
He grabbed the gloves inspecting it and indeed they had changed, the seemed to have a countless small metal, of some sort layered all around it like a scale of some sort.
it was done ingeniously however and the flexibility and mobility provided didn't reduce any bit. The weight of the gloves had increased but it wasn't something it couldn't handle.
As he put it on, he felt a connection to other items, the feeling similar to when he conjured ice constructs he figured those where the twelve, no now eighteen knives that were part of the set.
It would take some time to get used to it but he had all the time he wanted.
"The necklace, or the pendant exactly, is a storage space, albeit it a very small one, it is still something that could cause a war over that's why you should never part with it, and only store what is really important in it as the space in it is limited"
Karl ended his speech as Noah made the gloves and the knives vanish, stored back in the space.
"And here's my second gift, I mean I couldn't let myself be outdone by Karl now could I"
Ryan shrugged his shoulders as he put a stone on the table
"Inside that stone is an art that can only be used by those in the divine path, don't worry, it won't clash with your jealous wife. I know how much you're worried about your memory so it's something to help with that"
Noah picked up the stone and put it to his head, the stone crumbling afterwards, but the knowledge already in his head.
He bowed his head to thank his teachers but his pager beeped loudly
Karl and Ryan smiled, Noah's first mission was just in time
