Back in the room after dinner, the sun had already set, so Sian lit the chandeliers on the walls, bathing the place in the dim candlelight.
Turning to Emily, he took her to the living room table and sat her on a chair where her little legs dangled, away from reaching the floor. After doing this, he crouched down, lowering his line of sight to match hers.
Faced by Sian's serious gaze, she immediately became nervous.
"My little princess, Daddy needs to talk to you about something very important." Sian said.
"I-I did something wrong?" She asked with sad eyes.
"Do not worry, my little princess did nothing wrong." He stroked her little head. "But Daddy is very concerned about your education. Your teacher is very biased and I am afraid that she will end up polluting your mind and put you against me."
"I don't think it's because she is biased, it's just that your reputation is well known." Illianna retorted.
Clearing his throat, Sian said. "It doesn't change the fact that the children at the orphanage keep their distance from me, I have no doubt that this is the teacher's fault."
"And because of that, do you intend to make her stop going to the orphanage?"
Illianna's question made Emily anxious, but Ophilia, who was watching the whole situation, kept with a calm expression, showing her confidence in Sian.
"No, I will become her teacher." Sian replied. "So when she goes there, she can just ignore the teacher's words."
"You are not intellectual enough to give her a good basic education." Illianna said.
"You're completely right." He nodded. "That's why I'm going to teach her just a few basic things while you teach the rest. With how perfect you say you are, I'm sure you're capable of that, right?"
"I have no problems with that, but I will need teaching materials." She replied.
"No problem." He turned to Emily. "What does my little princess think about it?"
"I don't like to attend class..." She said timidly, avoiding his gaze.
Sian stood and a transparent pitcher with a pink liquid appeared in his hand. Placing it on the table, he made a glass appear next to the pitcher.
Seeing that he had gained her attention, he filled the glass with the juice. The sweet and pleasant aroma of strawberry washed over the room.
Picking up the glass, he took it toward Emily's mouth, who quickly gulped it all down.
"This is strawberry juice with milk, do you like it?"
She nodded her head avidly, with an 'I want more' expression on her face.
"I can give you more if you attend class." Holding the pitcher in front of her, he continued. "What does my little princess think of this agreement?"
"I will attend!" She agreed promptly.
"Great, so as we have time, let's start with the first class that will be history." Placing the pitcher on the table, he continued. "But first, how long has my little princess been taking classes?"
"Two weeks." She raised her two little fingers.
"So it's been a short time." Curious about what she had learned, he asked. "What did she teach in class?"
"She taught which nobles were more important and how to write the name of each." Emily answered.
"So do you know how to write them?"
"No." She replied.
"It was to be expected, after all, you are only 4 years old." Sian stroked her head. "But do you still remember how they are classified?"
"No..." She said shyly.
"It's okay." He filled another glass of juice and gave it to her, trying to cheer her up. "Before we start history class, I'm going to do a quick review for you."
Taking out a pencil and a sheet of paper, he wrote the rankings of the nobles.
"There are 9 nobiliary classifications-"
"Wouldn't it be 10?" Before he could continue, Illianna intervened.
"Well, yes, but we don't need to count the emperor as one of the classifications, after all, no one would have the courage to use that title."
"Is it because of the legend of the Dragon Emperor?" Ophilia asked.
"Aunt Anna told this story today!" Emily said.
"Many think it is just a legend or story for children, but this is wrong, it was something that really happened." Illianna said.
"Really?" Emily's eyes widened.
"It's like she said, this was something that really happened and that's why there are currently no empires."
"Is the real story different from the legend?" Ophilia asked curiously.
"There are a few minor differences." Sian said. "In short, the legend says that Drogon, the most powerful dragon of all, was a very benevolent dragon and one day he was furious for all the deaths that happened due to the disputes between the races. Because of this, he intervened and used his power to stop all wars in the world. After that, he declared that there would be no more emperors, and then he was blessed by the gods with the title of emperor."
Pulling out a chair, Sian sat down next to Emily and urged the others to take a seat as well before proceeding.
"But the truth is that this dragon has proclaimed himself as emperor of the world and said that any ant that dares to declare itself as emperor or initiate a large-scale conquest would be turned into porridge by his claws. There are some rumors that he was one of the few who survived the calamity, but that has never been confirmed."
"I had never heard about that." Ophilia said surprised.
"Few people heard, after all, the nobles would not like to tarnish their images by letting people know that they shrank in fear because of a threat." Sian said. "So they just distorted the facts a little and spread this legend among the commoners."
"Does that mean that a dragon rules the world?" Ophilia asked.
"Despite he proclaimed himself as emperor, he has never done anything, or rather, thousands of years ago, no one has seen or heard from him." He shrugged.
"Can I take part in class too?" Ophilia asked a little sheepishly.
"Of course." Sian said with a smile.
"It's been so long that he's probably already dead." Illianna said. "I think that fearing him is unnecessary."
"I would not bet on it, like vampires, the dragons are also immortal creatures in the face of time." Sian said.
"I know little about dragons, but I heard that they are an extremely proud race." Ophilia pondered. "Would the other dragons allow one to do that?"
"As you said, they are very proud and arrogant, so it didn't take long for some dragons who disagreed with that statement to decide to teach him a lesson. But to their unhappiness, that dragon was very strong, and even the alliance of 7 powerful dragons was no match for him. "
Placing Emily, who looked bored in his lap, Sian continued.
"After an intense struggle that shook the entire demonic continent, the roar of that dragon resonated so that everyone there could hear. He said anyone who wanted to challenge him could go at any time and after that, those seven dragons were never seen again. Because of this, he became known as Drogon, The Emperor. "
"But it wasn't just the 7 dragons that were never seen again." Illianna said. "He also didn't show up again after the fight. That's why I think there is a possibility that he was seriously injured and died. "
Squeezing Emily's smooth cheeks slightly, Sian said. "This is possible, but who wants to risk being trampled?"
Before Illianna could say anything, Emily intervened, looking anxiously at the juice. "What about the class about nobles?"
"Oh, we strayed a little." Sian immediately added another name to the paper and pointed with the pencil. "If we count on the Emperor, there are 10 noble classifications. Among all, the Emperor is the one with the most power and just below him comes the King, Prince, Duke, Marquis, Count, Viscount, Baron, Baronet and Knight."
"So a Prince is more important than Daddy?" Emily asked curiously.
"Not exactly, although the Prince is considered a noble rank, they have no power in the kingdom. Everything they do depends only on the King." Sian rubbed his cheeks on hers as he continued. "So my little princess can rest easy, Daddy is more powerful than them."
"Can I have more juice now?" She asked.
Not resisting her pleading eyes, he poured another glass of juice.
Seeing that Ophilia also had similar eyes, he took out 3 more glasses and poured one for him, one for Ophilia and one for Illianna. Like Emily, they were both surprised by the taste.
"It's delicious!" Ophilia said.
Finishing drinking, Illianna complemented. "I have never tasted such good juice in my life, I must admit that your cooking skills are good, but that is also due to the ingredients, right?"
"You're completely right." Sian placed another glass for each one and said proudly. "Both strawberries, sugar and milk were produced on my land. They are all top quality products and there are also a few more things that I intend to use when we build the inn."
After a brief pause while they discussed future plans for the inn, Sian said. "It's time to start with the history class."
I opened a Patreon.
Why open a Patreon?
Well, I write mostly for my own entertainment, but writing, editing, translating, proofreading and publishing takes time that I almost don't have, since college takes most of it and also, money would certainly motivate me. But the main reason is that I want good illustrations for my story and since I don't have enough skills to do it, nor the time to improve them, I decided to open a patreon.
But you can rest assured, I'll keep posting here as often as before, the only difference is that the patreon will have advanced chapters.
Here is the link for those who want to take a look.
