"Where were you, Xavier? I was worried sick, you know? I almost called the police for you!"

I closed the door behind me slowly.

I was too excited to let my mum's anger scare me even a little bit, but otherwise, I would have been already scratching my head, thinking about excuses. 

"Uhh, sorry ma? I was just at the hospital with Ophelia."

"At the hospital from one in the noon till three in the morning? The last time I saw you was two days ago, in the morning, honey. Xavier, first you at least need to inform me if you are going to be gone for two days straight. I need you to stay safe. And secondly, when was the last time you ate anything?

Ate?

I don't really remember eating anything since the past few hours.

Few hours don't mean 40 hours, Xavier.
