He Lianchen pressed harder on his accelerator as he drove back to Qing Tian Group after having breakfast with the Tangs and Feng Tianyi. Despite the indescribable happiness he felt upon seeing Gu Yuyao again, he couldn't help but remember the pain of rejection he suffered because of her several years ago. 

He was only twenty-five at the time, still finishing his law degree when he met Gu Yuyao through a mutual friend. That mutual friend said she was a regular office worker, working in an accounting firm, that she was working her ass off to make ends meet. 

He would've never expected that the woman he'd been in a relationship with was the Gu family's Young Miss. The sole heir of the family and was the next one in line to run the family business. As to why she was living as a commoner, he had never found out the reason, because she had immediately broken up with him and left the country as soon as he found out.
