"It's the alarm," Annabeth said to the prince while they hastily empty the bottles of chemicals that form the purple smoke. 

With the map they obtained from Iris, the countess has been busy running around spreading the purple smoke while the Prince helps her knock out the guards.

(Author: By the way, the smoke is harmless. It mainly  contains sleeping powder and some purple colouring to make the smoke look poisonous.)

"I guess our plan work out after all. Luckily, I brought some makeup with me. It's my first time putting on makeup for a man, but getting to see soldier's reaction was absolutely priceless. Hehehe."
