Clarity crashes into me like cold water and I start up from my bed with a silent scream, my mouth open so wide that it hurts.

I had shattered Cyril, so hard that hours of cuddling couldn't fix him, that kissing couldn't fix him, this time there was nothing to salvage… wasn't that what I had been gunning for all these years?

It isn't his fault, it isn't mine either, we are just born the way we are, like the princess and the bastard daughter of the King who's made to become a maid.

I look down at myself, I'm in my silk nightwear, clean and smelling faintly of a heady scent of night flowers and jasmine, Llyod. It had to be him.

I check the grandfather clock, it's just three pm, perfect. I wouldn't have to take another shower, all I had to do was get dressed and get going.
