" So, Are you going?" Alexia asked wearing a concerned expression over her face. She wasn't sure if he was planning to attend his birthday party or not judging by his opinion about the old Mr Ardian character. 

Micheal paused for a moment and replied.

" Yes, i have to go. I am not in a position yet to ignore old mr Ardian's courtesy." 

" I can't insult him, when he personally sends me an invitation." 

Implies that he can't just disrespect old mr Ardian when he personally sends him the invitation letter.

" Personally send you???" Alexia stared at him in disbelief.

Alexia knew that Ardians have never acknowledged Michaels existence. Let alone invite him personally, that to by old mr ardian, himself.
