"AND…BEGIN!"
The moment Present Mic spoke, there was a moment of confusion and of delay among the examinees, who were probably expecting a count down. I was happy to see that all the training I put Kyotaka through paid off, as she reacted immediately and started running toward one of the faux villains. I had put her several times through "surprise" training to prepare her for being surprised, even though it was hard to surprise her with her quirk.
"WHAT'S WRONG? THE TEST'S STARTED! RUN! RUN!"
After Present Mic reminded the contestants the exam had started, they all started to run as fast as they could in hope to find some faux villains.
I got comfortable in my chair and started to enjoy the show.
Kyotaka's POV
"AND…BEGIN"
The moment I hard Present Mic's shout, I started to run, while also using my quirk to amplify sound near me so that I could find the faux villains. Since my quirk allowed me to control all sound, it was a neat trick that could be used to locate nearly anyone.
I noticed that the other contestants hadn't realized that the exam was started and that they only started running when they heard Present Mic's second shout.
It didn't take along before I spotted a faux villain, a 2-pointers. As soon as I saw my new target, I sprinted toward it and when I was close, simply touched it with my palm, sending ultra-powerful sound waves through it, thus destroying its inside.
Did you know that metal is generally a really good sound conductor? Especially steel, and the faux villains were made in steel. And since the bots were partially empty on the inside, it made them amplify sound even further once it was inside it.
After disposing of the 2-pointers, I listened for more villain bots. I didn't waste any time observing the others, I was focused on getting the most point possible. Because I needed to get first place, it would be a disgrace for Knockout if the person he personally trained got beaten. He was the most powerful, and I would be the most powerful student in my year.
I spotted a couple of 1-pointers in an alley and used a sound blast to destroy them all at once. Next was a 3-pointer and another 2-pointer that I found. They got destroyed pretty quickly as well.
I continued like this for a couple of minutes, always using those two tricks to get rid of the faux villains. I had other moves as well, but most of them only worked on living things or were too powerful to be used on weak bots, the moves I was using were the most efficient one in this situation. I had also sometimes helped and rescued other candidates, but my focus was on gathering points.
Maybe we could get points by rescuing others, I suspected that, as U.A. was a hero school and hero saved people, but it was more efficient for me to destroy faux villains and it would guarantee me points, that's why I focused on amassing the most villain points I could.
At around the 8-minute mark, I think, I heard a loud rumble going through the city, it was the 0-pointer. I didn't even need to use my quirk to figure out that it was near me.
A few moments later, there was a huge shadow that draped over me and the entire street I was in. The 0-pointer had found me, it seems.
Man, that thing was big, it was easily 75 meters tall, maybe even more, and it looked ferocious, dangerous and not particularly fun to battle against. When it appeared, most students started run away from it. It was understandable, but I decided to stay a bit by curiosity and to help if some people got injured.
I was not really afraid of it, because I knew that it probably couldn't injure me. I don't if I could destroy it, though. Probably, but not in a minute and a half, and it was all that was remaining to the exam.
The bot immediately attacked and launched a handful of missiles that destroyed the majority of the street. I easily dodged the debris of various buildings, but this couldn't be said for others and some of them got injured or trapped.
I started to look around and increased my hearing, something else I could do with my quirk, to try and found the ones that had gotten injured and, once I knew where they were, I rescued them quickly.
Once I was sure that no one else was in the destroyed street where the 0-pointer and I were, I used sound blast to propel myself in the air and left, going toward other bots. There was not a lot of time remaining, but I hoped that I would be able to get 10-15 more points before the end.
Just as I thought, I didn't get the chance to get many more points before Present Mic shouted:
"THE TEST…IS OVER!!!"
I wasn't sure how many points I had gotten, I stopped counting after eighty, but I was pretty sure I had gotten first place, especially if hero or rescue points were a thing. I was satisfied with how I had done.
Raiko's POV - Meanwhile
After Present Mic announced that the exam indeed started, the examinee all started running at the same time.
For the next few minutes, the exam played off normally, certain candidates standing out from the others. One of them was obviously Kyotaka, she stood out the most amongst all the examinees, as she was obliterating bots at a fast pace without damaging the mock city a lot. Being able to fight without destroying anything was a very useful skill to have as a hero.
Another one who was doing well was the explosion kid, but he really didn't seem like a nice person. He never helped anyone and screamed "die" while he was destroying bots. I've seen villains with a better behaviour than him.
Eraserhead was apparently agreed with me as I could hear him mutter "Problem child #1" under his breath.
The watching continued and I didn't focus on participants other than Kyotaka very much, they didn't interest me at all. I still noticed that the Iida kid seemed pretty good. Even if he had a stick up his *ss, he knew how to fight.
One thing that puzzled me though was that All Might's successor was literally just running around and panicking. Wasn't he supposed to be the next number 1 hero or something, so why the f*ck did he have a baffling zero points. I mean, All Might isn't the most rational of heroes, but still…
Then, I heard and saw Nezu laugh maniacally and press a big red button and I knew he was about to unleash the zero pointers. He always made them appear near the contestant with the most villain points in to see their true colors and to make sure they didn't get too many villain points.
I was quite satisfied to see that Kyotaka didn't immediately run away from it, she didn't even look scared. She first helped the others before leaving and going to hunt more points. I knew that she could've quite easily beat it, it looked way stronger than it actually was and she had a tendency to underestimate herself. I needed to fix that in the near future, it could be dangerous, or even fatal to her of someone else in the future.
All the other examinees immediately fled when they saw the 0-pointers, sometimes even endangering others in the process. It was expected, though, that's why there were hero schools.
Well, almost all examines fled, one, All Might's successor, instead froze in fear before bravely and stupidly starting to run toward the 0-pointers in order to save a girl. As if the faux villains could even seriously harm someone…Of course, they couldn't, they were programmed so that they wouldn't hurt anyone seriously!
He then jumped really high, breaking both his legs in the process and threw a punch at the bot's "head", destroying it. Then, he fell, and started to panic again… Just to be saved by the girl he had previously saved.
Were we in a shounen manga or something? Because this guy had all the characteristic of a protagonist, he was incredibly stupid, didn't think before he acted, was scared of girls and had a hero complex.
While most of the others (including the teachers) seemed surprised by the boy's power, All Might looked proud? Well, the hero complex was probably why he had chosen the guy as his successor, because otherwise he was just a weak quirkless boy.
I remember now, this boy is the same as in the Sludge incident! The one that recklessly attacked a villain holding someone hostage… How could that go wrong?
Yep, only All Might to encourage this type of destructive behaviour…
Not long after, the exam finished and we started to assign the rescue points of each participant, before forming the final scoreboard and separating she students that passed into two classes, 1-A and 1-B.
They put Kyotaka in 1-A, as she was ranked first of the exam. Speaking of her result, I looked at the scoreboard and was pleasantly surprised. I expected her to do well, but honestly, she had exceeded my expectations.
Her score was...
Sorry for the cliffhanger (;
Also Kyotaka is a notch more powerful than her pears, as she trained earnestly, giving her 110% for years, before being trained by Knockout himself. So obviously she’s going to be more powerful than the others.
School started for me so I may go down to 5 chapters/week, or less, it depends on how much free time I have.
