Capítulo 15: A Plan Gone Wrong
"It's gone!" Chloe shrieked.
"What is?" Sabrina wondered.
"My new mirror! This is ridiculous! Utterly ridiculous!"
"I'm sure it's here somewhere. We just need to look harder," Sabrina assured her.
"No! Somebody must have stolen it! This is a crime. We need to get the principal involved!" Chloe marched towards Mr. Damocles's office.
School had ended for the day. Students gathered at the front of the school to talk and make their way home. Lila wanted to say goodbye to Mira. Also, if she was with Mira the time the mirror went missing, she wouldn't be the main suspect.
Mira was walking towards the entrance. She was about ten minutes early, but that didn't matter.
Lila approached her and said, "I'll see you tomorrow. I hope you have a great rest of the day!"
"Bye, Lila. I hope you do too!" Mira replied. She sat her bag down and looked at her phone. Just as Lila began to walk away, it rang. Mira walked to the other side of the wall holding the phone to her ear.
Lila had an idea. She could really win over Mira's trust if Marinette not only stole Chloe's mirror, but something of Mira's as well. Lila walked over to her bag and looked inside. She pulled out a feather brooch. It looked oddly familiar. Lila thought she had seen it somewhere, but couldn't remember where. She looked at it for a second longer before putting it in her bag.
"Lila! What are you doing?" Marinette and a bunch of other students were looking at Lila.
"Eh, what are you talking about?" Lila said nervously.
Now, all the students were staring at Lila. Chloe dragged Mr. Damocles to the front of the school.
"What is everyone looking at?" Mr. Damocles asked.
"That doesn't matter! Find who stole my mirror?" Chloe ordered.
"Ask Lila. She stole something from Mira's bag!" Marinette crossed her arms.
"What? Liar-"
"Lila, is this true?" Mira was standing by the entrance with a disappointed look.
"No! Marinette is lying!" Lila shouted.
Mira walked over to her bag and looked through it. She stood up with an angry look.
"You stole my brooch," Mira said.
Mr. Damocles, Chloe, and Sabrina walked over to Lila.
"Lila, I'm going to have to check your bag," Mr. Damocles said.
"No! This is my personal bag!" Lila exclaimed.
"I need to check it," Mr. Damocles repeated.
Lila opened her mouth to argue, but instead handed her bag to Mr. Damocles. He opened it to find Mira's brooch.
"Is this it?" he asked.
"It is!" Mira grabbed the brooch and put it in her pocket.
"Lila, this is not acceptable. You lied about steal-"
"Wait!"
Everyone looked at Chloe.
"That's my mirror!" she grabbed it from the bag and screamed, "You lying thief!"
Lila clenched her fists.
"Lila Rossi! This is an outrage! You have stolen items from two students. I have no choice. Lila Rossi, you are expelled!" Mr. Damocles gave the mirror to Chloe, who walked away with Sabrina.
Lila looked around with anger and humiliation. This was not how things were supposed to go. She and Marinette looked right into each other's eyes.
"You are going to pay for this, Marinette Dupain-Cheng," Lila mumbled.
