Capítulo 30: The Rite of Trust

Adalwulf: We are not here to destroy this place, we just want to prove ourselves worthy of Wakandan trust.

The spectres seemed to understand what Ad meant, and got closer to them slowly, without giving any sign of hostility. Once they were close enough, they sniffed each and every one of them. It felt weird and made them slightly uncomfortable. Not because of the sniffing itself, but because it felt like they were sniffing their souls.

The spectre that was sniffing Ad had it's eyes shot wide open, and immediately sat in front of him, bowing its head in the process. The other spectres, seeing their companion, quickly got closer to him and sniffed him. Repeating the process, they all bowed in front of him.

Natsuki: I'd say I am surprised but... somehow I am not.

Iman: Darling is amazing, after all!

Eoghan: I feel even more reasured of joining this Familia now *chuckle*.

Keeva: What kind of anomaly is our Captain, anyway?

Adalwulf just smiled wryly at everyone's comments, not being sure if he should feel praised or insulted. Brushing the awkwardness of having the spectres bowing in front of him, Ad decided to try something. Extending his hand forward, he patted its head and scratched behind its ear. If the purring sound it was making was to be trusted, the spectre liked that.

Now sure that there was no danger to them, Ad went on with the plan. Earning the Wakandan treasure.

Adalwulf: We want to gain Wakandan trust. Can you guide us?

The spectres nodded, proving once again that they could understand his words. Then they began walking, making their way through the streets of the city, going through many places that seemed to be full of riches. Still, the Party steeled their hearts and ignored the temptation, following after the animal shadows.

After what felt to them like a few hours, even though it was but half an hour of walking, they came to a place that looked even more majestic than the entire city. It reached the ceiling and pentrated into it, making Ad believe that it was inside a mountain, as they hadn't seen the place from outside. Though he didn't really know how deep the Sixteenth Floor of the Dungeon was.

After closer inspection, they realized it was a Castle of sorts. Probably the place were King T'challa ruled form. The spectres sat in even numbers at each side of the entrance and motioned them to go inside.

Ad patted one of them before he went through the door, earning a soft purr from the shadow. He somehow felt at peace in this place. After him, the rest of the Party entered quickly.

Once they were all inside, the doors to the Castle closed. Ad checked if it could be opened and even tried pushing with Eoghan, but discarded all thoughts of being able to move it when a kick with his full strength didn't even get it to tremble slightly.

Warily, they walked through the corridors of the building. This place was darker than the City outside or the other building they had seen. Ad could tell the reason why. This building, this Castle, was the resting place of the last Wakandans that lived. Not knowing full well what awaited them, they entered through the biggest door they had seen.

What greeted them was a well lit hall, with nothing in it for decoration but a square red carpet with five chairs on it, as if it was meant for them to sit at.

Adalwulf, being the Captain and the one in charge, decided to take the first step. He moved towards the most "royal" looking chair, and satin it. Behind him, the figure of the man they had seen in the statue appeared. It didn't speak, move nor did anything whasoever. It just stood there, as if waiting for something.

Understanding what they had to do, the other members moved. Iman and Natsuki say by each of Ad's sides, and Eoghan and Keeva on the reimaining two chairs. More figures appeared behind each and every single one of them.

Behind Natsuki appeared a youn looking woman with short white hair and white, misty eyes.

Behind Iman was a shorter woman, with longer and braided hair, her face adorned by white tribal markings.

Behind Eoghan appeared a blonde, bearded man, looking even better built than King T'chala.

Finally, behind Keeva appeared an older looking woman with a motherly presence. Her haird was styled in long and braided dreadlocks, reaching below her shoulders.

(A/N= In order of appearance they are: T'challa, Ororo Munroe, Shuri, Hunter and N'Yani. Search them on a wiki, my dudes.)

The first one to speak was King T'challa.

T'challa: You've found our City, hidden for millenia.

Ororo: It is now time for you to be tested.

Shuri: Were you to be trusted, you shall be rewarded.

Hunter: If not, a punishment it'll be.

N'Yani: Do not worry, children. You will only be banished from the City and denied entrance.

Hunter: You are always so soft, mother.

After they heard the conversation, theit bodies went limp, and their consciousnesss drifted into the land of dreams.

Upon waking up, Ad found himself still on the "throne room", with two chairs, one in front of the other. The one that awaited him was the King himself.

T'challa: Please, take a seat, visitor. In spite of what we said, you will not be punished nor banished, but will simply have no access to our treasures.

Adalwulf: I will gladly accept the seat. So... everyone is talking to their closest counterpart in their mind space... or something like that, right?

T'challa: Indeed. Now tell me, Adalwulf, what is it that you wish our treasure for?

Adalwulf thought deeply and longly about it. He first thought of profit, but quickly turned those thoughts away. He wasn't a greedy person per sé. No. His reason for even being here was different. It was bigger and way more important than any kind of ore that existed.

Adalwulf: I... wish to protect those I hold dear. My people. Family, friends. And I also want to be able to protect those that deserve protection, but are frowned upon for either being weak, or different.

Adalwulf took a short pause to think of his next line. He reached the same conclusion he had before yet again, but this time he added something else.

Adalwulf: I don't care if I have to fight you. Don't take it wrong, I would say the same thing to anyone for that matter. As long as those who are dear to me are breathing and a single drop of blood is left in my body, I'll fight to give them one more breath.

Adalwulf once again stopped. This time, once he pictured the reason he even wanted to get stronger, he smiled softly.

Adalwulf: Because they are everything I have, and even if I am not all they have, my heart wouldn't be able to go on without them.

T'challa, who had remained silent throughout Ad's speech, smiled. He had been the same before and still was. His people came first, the only difference being that he fought for a country, not just his family. Then again, every person in his country was his family.

T'challa: You are not naïve nor innocent, and still your heart is pure. I can see why the spectres would bow to you. Now, Adalwulf, it is time for you to prove your strength...
