Lucas's POV:
My head pounded and my ears rung. My body was weak and unresponsive. It was morning but my eyelids lay heavy.
A knock on the door caused me to answer with a groan. "What is it?"
"It's Ren, can I come in?"
I groaned an okay and he entered.
"You look better than last night but still a mess." He commented with disapproval.
I blinked slowly, adjusting my eyes to the sudden brightness of my surroundings.
He passed me some painkillers and water for my pounding headache. He obviously knew I'd be a wreck.
"I haven't asked this, but Evan called asking me to help look for you, since you ran away. So, What happened?" Rens eyes were sincere, he was truly worried about me.
"How does a human turn into a Vampire?"
I answered his question with my own question.
He could probably tell what our fight was about now and still answered my question.
" A human must drink or have vampire blood in their system when they die. The older the vampire the blood comes from the more likely the results."
"And how old are you?"
His face remained all serious at the sudden question.
"13,855. One of the oldest vampires to ever exist till this day, including my sister at 13,780 years. Most vampires live to about 5,000 years, with how frequent we fight with each other." He smirked at the brag he made.
So Evan was quite young for a vampire. Even though hes old to me hes not old compared to the talking dinosaur in front of me.
I asked some more questions considering turning into a vampire. Ren didn't offer his opinion at all. He wasn't judging me, just informing me of the outcome if I chose this path.
According to Ren, my immunity to compulsion will probably fade when I become a vampire as when you do so, your core darkens and older vampires will still possess the ability to control weaker beings.
Of course compelling vampires and humans is different. Humans it's more slavery and vampires it's more really convincing out of fear. As older vampires are way stronger in every way.
"So what do you think? Should I remain human or not?" I confronted Ren for his opinion.
He seemed shocked that I asked, but answered nevertheless.
"If I was you, I would remain human. There is nothing more horrible than being compelled and knowing what's happening whilst being powerless to stop it. Turning into a vampire now won't really increase your chance of surviving an attack, yes you may be stronger than a human, but most vampires are much older and could easily kill or compell you."
"Okay. I will remain human for now, but when I return and wish to be a vampire. Will you grant me your blood?" I graciously asked.
" If that is what you wish, I shall oblige."
He nodded with complete truth.
The room filled with blissful silence after we had come to an understanding. Ren handed me a phone and walked off, giving me a clear hint that I should call Evan.
