"Why are you smiling?" Lucas glared. "Are you happy I'm not marrying you?"

My smile only grew wider.

Lucas leaned in and tugged my lips with his, wanting to get rid of my smile.

"I was just teasing. No need to bite!" I said.

I started caressing his face again.

"I'm smiling not because you're not sure you want to marry me, but because you're starting to even consider doing so."

Lucas merely looked at me for a moment after I said so, as if something had just dawned on him.

"What? Why are you looking at me without saying anything?" I asked, unable to take the silence, unable to take his stare.

"I was just thinking I want you to fall in love with me." Lucas suddenly blurted out in response.

I blinked my eyes a few times because of his unexpected, almost out of nowhere answer.

"What do you mean?" I looked at him as if I just heard something absurd. "I already love you, Lucas." I purposely called him by his name.

Lucas shook his head.
