Capítulo 235: Gatrid's Wrath

"If it's a fight you want. . . !"

Gatrid was shocked upon seeing Travis vanish from his entrapment. Especially since there was zero signs of it occurring.

Travis dashed forward whilst unsheathing Abe, flicking his wrist he quickly aimed at a vital spot. However his sword was stopped short, Gatrid blocking it with his palm.

Gatrid smirked, "A mere First Stage attempts to fight me? I may not be Fourth Stage, but I can easily deal with you."

Abe warned, 'He is a genuine Third Stage, you almost have no hope of winning.'

Travis grinned, "Almost?"

Gatrid's eyes narrowed as a large amount of Abyssal Energy burst from Travis' body. Travis was not going to hold back, he immediately used his Berserk Skill!

Travis retreated and unleashed his War Sight, Gatrid felt a slight pressure, weakening him ever so slightly. Travis shot forward, tearing through the ground.

Gatrid turned furious, "You dare harm the plants!"

Roots sprang from the ground and shot forward, moving like living spears. Travis moved between them, however as he got closer their numbers increased. One shot forward, aiming straight for his chest. Travis' eyes narrowed, in his current position dodging wasn't an option. So he swung Abe forward, aiming to split the root.

To his shock his sword barely managed to cut an inch deep. Unable to prevent the root's movement Travis was pushed back. Gatrid then took the opening, sending a few more roots towards Travis.

These pierced his into in stomach and legs, making his HP drop dramatically. Travis grunted from the pain as he was pushed farther back.

Gatrid shook his head, "Disappointing, how could you possibly be Zanyill's disciple? You can barely keep up! All I need is a basic Druid ability!"

Travis slammed into a tree and more roots pierced into him, causing his HP to go into a critical state. The only reason he lived was due to his life saving accessory. Blood formed in his mouth as he struggled to move.

"This is so irritating! Some lowlife who can barely fight becomes his disciple? This piece of garbage!?"

Travis vanished again making Gatrid grit his teeth in anger.

Travis himself sighed, he didn't want to use this, it wasn't his own power anyway.

[Averoth's Spirit]!

Gatrid looked over, "All you can do is somehow-"

BOOM-!

A figure slammed his fist into Gatrid's face, sending him flying into the trees. The figure grinned and stated, "One."

Gatrid forced himself to a stop, "Who are you?!"

Gatrid paused the moment he saw the figure, they looked familiar. Although his current situation did not allow him to search his memories. The figure dashed at an incredible speed appearing in front of Gatrid in mere moments.

BOOM-!

The figure's fist slammed into Gatrid's stomach, almost making him vomit. He slid back whilst clutching his gut, the power behind the figure's attacks was incredible.

The figure calmly spoke, "Two."

Gatrid looked up and panicked when the figure was no where to be seen. Immediately he looked up, the figure was descending onto his position. He held up his arms to defend himself, several roots rushing to assist. This was useless, as he felt a crushing power hit him, almost shattering his arms. His knees bent involuntarily as the recoil from the blow traveled through his body. The figure leapt away and faded as he said, "Three."

Gatrid spat, "Who was that?"

Travis wasted no time responding, instead he opted to dash forward. His sword covered in a dark energy. The moment he reached the right distance he swung forward. Gatrid reacted to this and roots sprang up to protect him. Travis' blow managed to cut halfway through the roots before his blade halted its momentum.

Gatrid regained his confidence as he slammed Travis away with a bundle of roots. He stood up and dusted himself off, a vine that bloomed flowers began to creep up him. The flowers released a pale green dust that healed his wounds at a visible rate.

He smirked, "It seems whatever you did was a limited ability, a shame."

Abe sighed, 'It seems like this battle is unwinnable. Even with the ring Flinnder gave you, you are far too outmatched.'

A grin spread across Travis' face as he put on his mask, "For the current me, yes."

In a dark room, a figure dressed in mostly black stared into the endless dark. A smile crept onto their face, "You see, this is why I chose you."

Gatrid smirked, "You still stand! I suppose one good thing about you is your tenacity! Still, you die here!"

-<>-

"Your swinging has improved, far more thought is put behind each swing. . . But you are still swinging wrong."

Travis frowned, "What do you mean?"

"You're attacking wrong. You can change how you move, how you attack to confuse and enemy. Outdo them within a few swings, and this works. . . for now." Dimitrin explained.

"For now?"

"You will face enemies that you cannot break with force, your attacks are still forceful. The way you attack must change as well, where you cannot cut even paper, but can easily slice the strongest metals. This isn't something I can teach, instead is something you must find out yourself. Do not focus on this for now, you must master what I teach first. Instead keep this in mind if you ever find something you cannot cut."

-><-

Dimitrin was incredibly vague on this, but Travis had a slight idea on what they were trying to explain. To think there was something he could not cut right in front of him!

Gatrid waved his arm and sent several roots towards Travis. Due to his injuries and low HP Travis was currently inflicted with a lot of negative status effects, but he forced his body to move. He focused on the roots and moved just enough to remain unscathed. Learning from his past mistakes he opted to dodge to the sides instead of charging forward. The roots slammed into ground, tearing through the grass.

Travis focused on a single thought, change the way he swung his sword. Cut through the roots!

His sword arced through the air and slammed into a root, embedding itself an inch into the root. He murmured, "No, not quite."

He jerked his head to the side as a root shot past, quickly freeing his sword he continued to dodge the roots.

Gatrid swung his other hand, "It's a bit boring to use only one attack isn't it?!"

Vines shot from the ground and quickly wrapped around Travis, halting his movements. The roots curved and headed straight towards him. Travis quickly escaped using [Truth Twofold: Existence]. Gatrid foresaw this move and quickly swiped his hand. The roots which remained across the field suddenly had flowers bloom on them, releasing a dark purple mist.

Travis suddenly received several system notifications.

<User has been affected with [Pollen of Morpheus]!>

<Due to the effect of Eyes of Trinity, the User is immune!>

Travis walked through the mist, "Pollen of Morpheus? You're a high grade Druid then."

"Hm, so you know this much. Why is it you know so much yet so little? No matter, once you breath in this pollen you're life is long forfeit."

"I'm not so sure about that."

"Bold words for a man standing at death's door. Fine, since you are so confident allow me to show you the difference in strength."

Suddenly a large tree sprouted from underneath Gatrid, growing rapidly.

"[Nature's Judgement]."

The field suddenly sprouted with energy, plants of all types growing at a visible rate. Gatrid swung his hand through the air, and the plants attacked Travis together. Roots, vines, stems, leaves, fruits, any part of a plant was thrown and aimed for Travis' life. He moved through the attacks, cutting through the weaker plant material.

Travis noticed that his situation was growing dire. Every second the attacks grew in number and in toughness. His sword was being met with more and more resistance every swing. Yet despite the problematic situation, Travis was growing excited. His heart beat at the thrill of the fight, at surviving. He could feel himself improving as the moments passed.

Gatrid frowned, at this moment he noticed the incredible tenacity of Travis. Not just that either, but the latent potential they had. He easily noticed how Travis was improving with every step, with every breath. It irritated him, for someone to be far more talented than himself. With anger he swung his hand, adding some of his own attacks into the onslaught.

Travis noticed the difficulty skyrocketing, and some attacks going through his defenses. His HP now at a measly 8 percent, and dropping at a steady pace. Yet Travis still fought, never once losing his focus, his desire.

A flash of insight appeared, Travis suddenly moved his sword differently. The swing itself held a different feel, a dangerous one.

The sword touched the root, and passed through it without slowing. Gatrid's eyes widened, a measly First Stage managed to cut his root?!

Travis succeeded! The essence in a different way of attacking, a fluid motion that simply could not stop!

Yet his HP reached 2 percent, and he knew this was as far as he could get.

WHOOM~

"Gatrid! You have gone too far!"

It felt like calm gust of warm air, covering Travis gently. But it was actually a wave of destruction, everything formed by Gatrid's skills simply vanished under the pure power the wave held.

There stood Zanyill, anger evident on his face.
