Yielya gently opened the door. Whispering something she entered the room alone, "Mother. . . I have them here."
"Oh dear me, where are my manners?"
"It's okay, they understand. I just wanted to give you a heads up."
"Bring them in! I want to see them with my own eyes."
Nodding Yielya brought the rest of the party inside. Greeting Jenna's mother happily they all introduced themselves. Her eyes seemed to spark with life upon seeing the group. Yielya had mentioned to use the names they went by before, and not the ones of the identities they've taken on.
"Jenna has told me many things about your journey."
"Good things I hope.", Wrock side eyed Yielya.
Patting Jenna's Mother's arm gently Yielya spoke, "You can hear their version while I go and wake father."
"In that case, there is one I'm curious about. . ."
Yielya tossed a glance towards the party and left. Quickly it became a story telling session. As the party happily began to recall various stories. It was apparent that Yielya tapped into some of their stories as the Heroes. Perhaps because her experience in A World's Legacy wasn't a pleasing tale to tell. Regardless once this became known the party was able to easily continue with their points of view, further reinforcing the idea that these things had happened.
Eventually an old man came gently stepping into the room. Yielya held an arm to support him, a smile on her face. The mother looked in surprise, "Dear! You're on your feet?"
"I can't be lying down when our guests are here.", the father replied.
Yielya steadily brought him to a chair and said, "But you should sit."
"That. . . yes I think I will."
Tenderly sitting on a chair he sighed heavily, "Right, is it true you faced a hundred men and won?"
"The Pierced Moon guild fiasco?", Akiol asked.
"So it's true! I must hear this story again."
"Hey wasn't this used for a monthly highlight? Why don't we bring that up?", Wrock offered.
Yielya nodded, "Since you both are here I can turn on the television."
She walked over and set up the monthly highlight. Occasionally one of the parents would have it paused to ask questions. Once the highlight finished the father performed a mix of both a laugh and a cough, "Games have gotten so advanced. I wish it came a few years earlier."
"Oh you were addicted to those!", the mother chided.
"It's a cheap hobby."
"Those devices you bought weren't!"
Yielya smiled at the playful argument. It had been a long time since they've messed about like this. Often they were silent unless Jenna was around. Yet Yielya felt her smile falter for a moment. A sight like this was something she couldn't have accomplished on her own. She couldn't have provided this sort of joy without everyone else.
As the Priest, as their healer. . . she still couldn't save people she cared about. Not by herself. She was never able to provide this kind of solace.
Akiol walked to her side and slid his foot to hit hers. She looked towards him with a puzzling glance, unsure why he caught her attention like this. With a gentle smile he spoke, "You've shown me that I cannot do everything alone. It's the same here isn't it?"
"Sometimes I wish I could. To be able to grant the wishes of others.", Yielya pinched her lips together.
"As do I. Yet we fight together, don't we?"
Balling up a fist she gently tapped his shoulder, "That we do."
Gently holding her fist Akiol adjusted it to a palm and held it within his hands, "Then you have to see this to the end. I will be with you."
"I know that much."
Freeing her hand she steadied her gaze and expression and returned to Jenna's parents. As the conversation grew Yielya gently kept things together. When the sun began to set the mother spoke, "We shouldn't be keeping you long. Thank you for visiting though, it has been a long while since this house has seen so much activity."
Kan'na answered it pleasantly, "We had a lot of fun. It was good to meet you."
"Of course, it is good to see Jenna's friends. Speaking of, Jenna see our guests out will you?"
"I still have my manners.", Yielya answered.
As they began to leave Akiol found a hand tugging at his wrist. Turning towards Jenna's mother he asked, "Something you need?"
"Take care of her."
Akiol blinked, "I try to do so for everyone I care about."
"I see the way she looks at you. That's something special. So promise me. Promise me you'll take care of her. To be sure she's happy."
Akiol looked into the mother's eyes and found a knowing gaze. This was someone who knew they were at death's door. Their time was running out. So Akiol comforted her worries, "I have done so thus far, I won't give up."
"That will do."
Joining the rest of the party they bid their farewells. After Yielya helped them return to their beds she slipped outside. Finding Akiol leaning against the wall waiting. Upon hearing her footsteps he asked, "So?"
"Not much longer now.", Yielya answered with a sad look.
Nodding Akiol only said a few words, "You know where to find me."
"Of course."
. . .
It hadn't been very long, a few days at most. As a Priest Yielya was far too familiar with death and losing ones you cared about. She often tended to graves near the church. It was something she grew numb to, something she thought she did.
Yet her eyes couldn't seem to leave the two newly erected gravestones. Jenna's parents. Was it the memories she inherited? She couldn't tell. Despite fulfilling Jenna's last wish, she didn't feel a sense of fulfillment. There was only loss. It had been a long while since she felt this way. Now she just couldn't understand why.
Akiol stood next to her, silent and unmoving. Providing solace through his presence. Keeping his word to be by her side. He provided no words of comfort. This feeling was something he knew he couldn't grow numb to, but was all too familiar. These two understood that they each had their way of handling such matters. This experience required no words.
So they stood, silent and watching.
It was when a shadow of the setting sun crossed Yielya's eyes that she decided to speak. Her lips parted and she paused, hesitant. Only after finding her words beforehand did she finally make a sound, "It's time to go."
Akiol placed his hands into the pockets of his jacket, "Okay."
The two left the gravestones alone. Walking side by side. Silent until they reached the hotel where the party is staying. Sucking in a breath Yielya straightened her posture and walked forward. Akiol didn't comment and followed.
Wrock was the first to speak, "May their afterlife be as pleasing."
Holding up a hand Yielya stopped any more talk of this subject. Nodding in response, Wrock let go of the matter. The party allowed for Yielya to recover and time continued to pass. After a few days of grieving Yielya seemed to perk up a bit. Slowly returning to herself. While surrounded by such friends she was able to cheer up with a decent amount of time.
Currently she was sitting alone in Akiol's room, he had left to grab breakfast and she decided to kick back for now. Tilia then walked into the room, "So, you up to do things?"
"Yep!", Yielya replied whilst stretching.
"Good, Wrock said he had an announcement to make so we should attend that."
Yielya got up, she had been spending the past few days slowly eating more and healing her body. She knew what she had to do, it was only a matter of time.
The two walked into a different room in the hotel, Wrock stood in the middle of everyone else. Upon seeing the two arrive he grinned, "Everyone's here, so it is about time for me to reveal."
He pulled out a set of keys from his pocket, "I currently own a seven seater suv. I say we take this and go on a little vacation together."
Everyone was silent. Wrock raised a brow and asked, "What?"
Akiol gave a small laugh, "I thought it was serious! Turns out it's this."
Kan'na piped up, "I'm silent for a different reason! You just own a car? Did you have this for a while?!"
Wrock made a confused look, "Why would I own a car in a state I have never been to? Of course I recently bought it."
Rubbing her brow Kan'na asked, "And how much was this?"
Wrock answered with the same confused tone, "It's brand new so it can be rounded to seventy grand."
"Seventy thousand! Just spent like that!"
"It isn't much for me."
"I can't deal with this!"
Akiol waved away the silly conversation. He then asked everyone:
"So. . . who's up for a vacation?"
