Capítulo 97: The Guilds’ Competition Pt. 2

Everyone quieted down, they wanted to hear this properly.

"In tenth place, a high quality set of potions! These can't be bought anywhere and can prove to be a lifesaver for almost any situation." Gaining Gladly began their explanation.

"For ninth to sixth place, the same set of potions along with a high tier weapon fitting the user's class!"

There was a small uproar along the stadiums, to think that the rewards would be this generous!

"In fifth place, along with the previous rewards will gain one medium tier accessory!

For fourth place, the same rewards except for a high tier accessory!

For third place, along with the previous rewards will gain a set of high tier armor fitting their class!"

The crowd was getting restless, this was a lot! If any player were to get their hands on even the third place reward leveling would be a cakewalk!

Gaining Gladly grinned, "For second place, along with the same rewards will gain a Skill Stone dropped from a level 150 boss!"

The excitement was rising, what would be the first place rewards?

"Now for the moment you all have been waiting for. For first place, a high quality armor set! A Skill Stone from a level 200 boss! And a hidden class legacy item!"

The crowd erupted into cheers, level 200 bosses were something only guilds could even attempt to beat. Armor sets are stronger than pieces, with additional boosts for having more pieces of the set. Hidden class teachers meant more people could gain the class, but hidden class legacy items means only one person could gain the class.

Even if a player already had a hidden class, a legacy item could easily be traded for a massive sum.

"That's not all folks! If any of the rewards are less than your current items, it could be traded for something of equal worth!"

The cheers were louder, even the players participating were tempted by the rewards. As the professionals from top guilds they no doubt had top tier gear, so obtaining more was unnecessary. However if they could trade it in for something of equal worth, then it was worth.

"Now let's get the ball rolling!" Gaining Gladly announced, a large hovering screen appeared above them, "Let's see who our first fighters are!"

Reverence gave a hidden smile, while it was true that the matches were random, this didn't mean they couldn't tamper with them. He intended to show his 'guests' the true power of the guilds. Messing with any of them was a bad idea, and he planned to ingrain that into their heads.

Sixteen player names appeared onto the board. Akiol skimmed through them until he saw one particular name. Wrecking Rocks.

Was it chance? Akiol doubted it, still he gave a knowing look to Wrock. Wrock nodded slightly, he understood.

The barriers reappeared and the players who were chosen were teleported into their respective matches.

Reverence naturally knew who his 'guest' was fighting. It was another pugilist named Barren Wheat. A highly skilled martial artist that quickly rose in status during the release of A World's Legacy. Their skills could easily beat masters of martial arts. With such high level fighting abilities all they needed to teach the player was game knowledge.

Barren Wheat was a treasure of Raven Thread. Reverence naturally knew this and coordinated with them to match with Wrock.

Why would they do this? Reverence is a proud man, he trained his underlings seriously and thought highly of himself. When he made the deal with Akiol he was incredibly displeased when he learned of Akiol's special ability, the immunity to damage. Inviting them to this competition was a way from him to vent his anger.

His plan was simple, beat them with their own class. With no excuse such as class advantage he will brutally overpower them. Weaken their will and reach them a valuable lesson.

So Reverence paid special attention to Wrock's match.

Travis finished off a monster, due to his high stats he was able to fight many monsters that out-leveled him by a large amount. Meaning his grinding was most likely the fastest.

Adding stat points accordingly he took a breath. He had finally reached a point to where he felt confident enough to start the collection of Abyssal Fragments. He knew once his sword was fully repaired he wouldn't need a replacement.

First came an Artifact however, he would need it to survive if he was going to that place so early.

He closed his eyes to rest a moment, he wondered what the slime player was doing. Hopefully getting much stronger, he would need to test his ability soon.

Wrock was teleported into the area, quickly searching his surroundings he gained an understanding in how the place worked. On the outside it seemed like the arenas were much smaller. However it wasn't so, the inside was far larger than it seemed. Leaving plenty space for battle.

He was in some plains, in the distance he saw a man standing still. Wrock assumed it was his opponent.

"Ready. . . Fight!" Gaining Gladly gave the countdown.

Wrock's opponent then broke into a sprint towards him. Wrock found it strange that his opponent head straight for him, so he used [Thundering Impact]. The shockwave tore through the grass and crackled. His opponent didn't stop, instead they raised their hand to their hip and thrust it forward. A large pale green palm silhouette appeared and clashed with the shockwave.

Lightning crackled and fizzed out, the palm faded and the shockwave was nullified. Wrock raised an eyebrow at this, it was the first time one of his moves got cancelled out.

"May I know the name of my opponent?" The man asked.

"You should give yours first, but it's Wrock."

"Ah forgive my rudeness, I am known as Barren Wheat. However please refer to me as Barret. I am pleased to meet a fellow pugilist."

"Likewise." Wrock replied.

Barret loosened their shoulders, "Now forgive me, but I have been told to not hold back."

Wrock readied himself, "What a coincidence, so have I."

. . .

A mage named Uranium watched the match of Barren Wheat. Uranium was the Vice-leader of Raven Thread. While he was confident in Barren Wheat's ability to fight, he was interest in the other pugilist.

A shockwave move like wasn't a move given by the ordinary class mentors. Meaning that it was also a Martial Founder, or a hidden class.

. . .

Barret through a fist forward. Wrock grabbed the hand and pulled him forward while simultaneously sending his elbow towards Barrett's chin.

Barret lifted his chin quickly causing the blow to miss. He flashed green and flexed the arm Wrock was holding. Whatever it was it caused Wrock's hand to recoil and release the arm. Barret used the opportunity to throw a punch towards Wrock's face.

Wrock pivoted and grabbed the arm again, using the force he threw Barret over his shoulder towards the ground.

Underneath Barret's feet appeared a green circle, a strange rune engraved into it. As if it was a solid surface Barret twisted his body and leapt off the green circle. Aiming his knee to make contact with Wrock.

Wrock let go of the arm to dodge. With some distance between the two they watched each other's movements carefully.

Barret moved first, thrusting his fist forward a green silhouetted of his fist appeared and moved towards Wrock quickly.

Wrock dodged and moved quickly, he was getting a feel for his opponent. He was beginning to see their flaws.

The reason why Wrock was so highly skilled wasn't just because of his talent for fighting. Wrock had a unique latent ability. Flaws and weak points of his opponents seemed to willingly show themselves to Wrock. Every attack Wrock received was sending him information mid battle. Ever since Wrock had begun fighting this ability only seemed to progress. As he trained he was able to act upon the flaws he saw, his trained self let him see even more flaws than before.

If Wrock fought with the same opponent for long enough, the battles would turn one sided. Wrock on the winning. The only reason Akiol was able to keep up with this ability of his was due to the massive amount of fighting techniques Akiol learned, along with his natural ability to adapt.

Every flaw Wrock found and took advantage of would be quickly covered up with a different technique, or fixed.

Wrock's unique ability came with only one flaw, he was unable to see his own flaws this way. Through extensive fighting was he able to find these flaws, reaching a point where he had very few.

However, since he started playing A World's Legacy he grew more bold with his attacks. With no real sacrifice on the line he didn't have to worry about the consequences much. Meaning his moves sometimes are brash and unnatural. It would take some time before he fully integrated with the way A World's Legacy works.

Wrock struck forward with one of his new moves. [Second Tempo Strike]. If he successfully hit a basic attack another one would follow up immediately after.

Barret guarded against the attack, he was about to counter strike when he was struck again. This threw Barret off a bit but he quickly recovered.

Barret threw his own fist back, a green silhouette formed similar to previously. This time it was much larger.

With the size of the palm it left no room for Wrock to dodge. Left with no choice Wrock used [Intense Speed] teleporting right behind Barret.

Barret seemed to have not notice just yet. So Wrock used [Mastered Basic Punch] and smashed into their back.

Barret lurched forward and crashed into the ground. Wrock watched his opponent but was shocked to see it fade green and vanish into particles.

Wrock immediately turned around to see a fist head his way, covered in green transparent armor.

Wrock used [Monstrous Strength] and caught the fist. The force from the him catching the blow caused wind to move violently.

Barret flashed green and Wrock was forced to let go of him. Barret made some distance between them and grinned, "You're highly skilled! That means I will be using my Berserk Skill now. Prepare yourself!"

Barret began to be covered in a slightly transparent green armor.

"The real fight begins now!"
