Capítulo 3: . Chapter: The Returning (3)

The morning sun rose from the crying dawn and gently rested upon Kyrith's sleeping face. The suns rays were enough to force Kyrith to start her new day.

Kyrith gotten out of bed, put on a dress and sat down at her makeup mirror. Tho it was meant to be used for makeup, Kyrith never used it for that purpose. Kyrith despised makeup, believing in natural beauty.

Kyrith grabbed her cherry-wood hairbrush and groomed her snow-white hair, the hair that Emily envied. Remembering Emily's words before Kyrith's death, Emily loved Kyrith's hair. Kyrith didn't see the problem with Emily's hair, it was a chestnut color but a little bit shorts and thinner then Kyrith's. Perhaps it was the attention Kyrith would get while she went out, people didn't just stare at her because of her wealthy family, but because of her unique hair.

For the first time in a long time, Kyrith did see how beautiful she was, her sun-kissed face filled with freckles, her snow-color hair. All features to be proud of.

There was a sudden knock behind Kyrith, she spun her body around, examining the room for the reason of the knock-sound. It wasn't the door for sure, did something fall? Kyrith's attention fell onto her wide window, there was something slim and black on the outside window ledge.

Kyrith took her footsteps cautiously towards her window, every step closer made the black figure seemed bigger.

When Kyrith reached the window, it was clear to say that a black cat was sitting outside her window on the ledge. The cat shocked Kyrith, what on earth was the cat doing here? Kyrith's room was on the third floor! There weren't any trees near her window to even climb!

The cat kept pawing at the window, praying to be let in. Kyrith didn't know what to do with the stray cat, should she report it to the maids and they'll get rid off it? No. Kyrith had an odd feeling about this cat, she let it in her room. The cat hopped in, it didn't bite, scratch or meow, it just sat at Kyrith's feet and looked up at her. Kyrith noticed there was something underneath the cats neck, a collar? She kneeled down onto the floor to see what was around the cats neck, it was a white lace ribbon holding a small note in the middle.

Kyrith wasn't sure if she should read the note, was it meant for her or someone else? The cat nodded at Kyrith, it was meant for her eyes only. Kyrith unrolled the note and read the few words it had to say, ‚find an ally'.

An ally could have more then one meaning, a friend? Someone you can trust? A partner? What kind of ally did she need? Kyrith looked down at the cat, who could have sent the note? surely none of her family members, maybe it was that voice in the void, giving her some small advice in the beginning of her rough journey.

Kyrith lied the note on her desk, she had no fear of anyone entering her room since if anyone wanted to enter, they had to knock, even family members. It was awkward to call a cat ‚cat' so Kyrith began to think of a name, maybe the color of its eyes. „Violet, do you like that name?"

The violet nodded, violet could understand human speech, it would be much stranger if violet could talk. It was like Kyrith's life was slowly but surely turning into a fairytale.

Violet jumped out the window and left to an unknown location, Kyrith went down to the main floor for breakfast. An elegant breakfast which included eggs, bacon, toast and a variety of fruits and berries. Just as Kyrith finished eating and the maid collected theirs dishes, Kyrith remembered her cake. "Mother, father, I am aware of the fact it is only breakfast but I have baked a cheesecake last night. I would be very delighted to have you try it"

"You backed a cheesecake last night?" Exclaimed Kyrith's mother.

"Yes, last night I have given Kyrith the permission to eat a cheesecake as a reward for her excellent German. I didn't expect her to participate in making it" replied her father.

„Well then, we might as well try Kyrith's cake then," sighed her mother.

Kyrith told the maid that the cake was towards the back of the fridge, the maid brought it out and gave each one of them a single slice. Kyrith didn't mention how she offered the cook a piece of her cake, incase her parents took it the wrong way. Her mother gave Kyrith a compliment, her father didn't say anything but his face had softened. Emily, who starred at the cake in disgust, refusing to eat something her sister had made, took a bite to lower suspicions. Emily's face still reminded bitter, but she finished the cake, that was a good sign.

After breakfast, Kyrith and Emily were excused from the table, both Emily and Kyrith had a different schedule. Kyrith watched from the window her sister being escorted into an expensive jet-black vehicle by her bodyguard, and a maid who also entered after Emily. The bodyguard took his place in front beside the driver and they took off into the city. The maid was to insure the health and well-being of the person and to help with purchases and carrying bags, the bodyguard was to insure the persons safety in any situation.

Kyrith sat alone in the living room with a cup of tea, she kept thinking about the note, she needed ally. Kyrith needed someone to help her with her journey, of course she wasn't going to ask them for help on doing so, but at least teach her how to not get caught. Kyrith needed to learn law and crime. A tutor to teach her about politics and law would be perfect! All Kyrith needed to do was get one.

Kyrith strolled through the empty halls to her father's office, she would ask him to find her a tutor.

Kyrith reached a big dark-wooden door with carvings on the side, her fathers office. Kyrith grabbed one of the fancy handles and used it to knock on the door. There was a long pause before she heard him say ‚come in'.

Kyrith enters her fathers dark and spooky office, it just gave of a mysterious vibe.

„Hello father, may I speak to you now?"

„Yes Kyrith, what is it?" asked her father without even glancing at his daughter, his gaze was glued to his computer. It was so silent in here you could hear his mouse being clicked and the keyboard being tapped, the sound of the clock ticking echoed in the background. In his office it felt like all eyes were on you, an uncomfortable sensation.

Kyrith sat down on a black leather couch to ease the mood, „I would like you to find me a tutor to teach me about law and politics"

Those words caught his attention, he looked up at Kyrith with a confused expression, „law and politics? I thought law and politics bore both you and Emily. Why the sudden interest?"

„I would just like to be informed about this topic, if it still holds my interest I will continue to study so. As you always said, all information could be beneficial'.

He stayed silent, thinking weither he should hire a tutor or not. After what seemed like forever to Kyrith, her father spoke again.

„Alright, I will find you a suitable tutor as quick as I can. Now leave my office, I have important business to complete"

„Thank you father"

Kyrith left the room in a hurry, In joy that her father had agreed to find her a tutor. Creeping through Kyrith's mind, were the thoughts of his future death, Kyrith blinked her eyes, struggling to fight them off decided she should go read a book. Perhaps that could clear her mind.

•••

Three hours had past, Emily had returned home in one functioning piece, she bought two expensive dresses and started to show them off to her mother and the small crowd of maids. Kyrith thought her behaviour was childish, especially for a fifteen year-old. The attention that Emily was looking for was from Kyrith, pleading to spark up envy in her dear sister.

Kyrith didn't feel envy, she only felt happiness for her sister, walking up to Emily with a smile Kyrith said gently, „those dresses look amazing Emily! The would look so elegant on you!"

The small crowd let out a ‚aww', the scene seemed to be heart warming from their perspectives. Kyrith tilted her head and closed her eyes with a smile, an innocent face with no other thoughts. Emily fumed with rage once more, nothing would be good enough, Kyrith was killing Emily with kindness bit by bit.

Kyrith felt pity for Emily for having such a small temper, it must've been sad to fill yourself up with negativity from some one's positive. Kyrith didn't even want to imagine life like that, maybe if she killed Emily, she would free her from jealousy.
