Capítulo 73: Spider Time! Spider Time!
Outside of the school.
"Do you think they're doing fine?" Gao Xiandao, the oldest in the group, pursed his lips.
Jiang Yilun responded, "I... I don't know."
To be safe, they had contacted a proper ghost exorcist a while ago, but he had yet to arrive. He stated that it would take him at the very least a couple of hours, maybe three, if traffic conditions were favorable. If not, then he could take more than five hours.
Ren Zhao could not stop worrying about Lan Xiang. Although he took care of the Young Master since they were young, they technically grew up together. Their age gap was a measly 5 years.
He clicked his tongue. "That's it, I'm going in there."
Ren Weiwei stopped him. "What do you think you're doing?"
"Calm down, calm down." Jiang Yilun separated the two.
"If he's a Level 10 cultivator, like you said," Jiang Yilun pushed her glasses up, "then they should be okay. There's only two problems that come into mind."
Lu Xifa, Zhang Xiaoqin, Ren Weiwei, and Ren Zhao listened, with Gao Xiandao tapping his foot on the side.
Jiang Yilun continued, "One would be that he had no time to practice the exorcism manual, but as a Level 10 cultivator at that young age, he needs to have high comprehension. So he should be slightly fine in that department."
Lu Xifa nodded. She herself witnessed how fast Lan Xiang could resolve the problems with the Spatial Distortion technique that took her years to fix.
"What I'm most worried about is one of the ghosts that we captured in the necklace." Jiang Yilun bit her lip.
Ren Zhao and Gao Xiandao felt their skin running cold. "You mean...?"
"Yes, the Spider Queen." Jiang Yilun gulped.

GeSun High School, first floor.
The pair continued to walk through the dark hallway, keeping the human-sized tarantula in mind.
"Stop, I hear something."
Ye Qingle and Lan Xiang focused on their hearing as they listened for sounds.
Scratch, scratch.
An uncomfortable scratching sound came from a classroom.
Lan Xiang peeked through the wall with his All-seeing Eye.
Fingernails went across a blackboard in a slow but forceful pace, leaving a slightly white trace behind. The ghost had its back turned; all Lan Xiang could see was its long hair that reached down its waist.
Lan Xiang widened his eyes to take a closer look.
The ghost stopped scratching the blackboard.
"...? Why did it stop?"
All of a sudden, it turned its head and gazed towards Lan Xiang!
He flinched and moved away from the wall, and started directing his qi towards his index finger according to the Touch of Life manual.
The biggest disadvantage of this manual for him was the fact that he needed a long enough time to prepare the technique. Over time, he would naturally get better at it, but as he was used to instantaneously learning a manual, or at least being able to execute it quickly, the Touch of Life manual irked him.
'I should have asked Jiang Yilun for her notes... No, wait. She said she never practiced it, she wouldn't have notes. Even if she did, I can't upgrade it; I'm still penalized for about 3 days.'
Lan Xiang shook his head, erasing all extraneous thoughts from his mind.
"Qingle, I'm ready, do the time stop."
Ye Qingle nodded to him and snapped her fingers. Now, all she needed to do was lead the ghost towards Lan Xiang who seemed like he was scared stiff, an easy prey for ghosts.
She peeked her head towards the doorway and saw the ghost.
"Eeek!" She faked a scream before running away.
Her scream attracted the ghost's attention. It began chasing her.
Ye Qingle found that the ghost was right on her tracks. As soon as she got past Lan Xiang, she snapped her fingers.
The ghost was startled by the sudden sound and stopped itself.
Lan Xiang grinned and pierced the unsuspecting ghost through its chest!
"Aaaahhh..."
As soon as the ghost disappeared, Lan Xiang and Ye Qingle nodded to each other, before continuing to explore the school building.
Soon enough, after exorcising all of the ghosts they came across, they arrived at the stairway.
Unlike the first floor, the second floor was quiet. Unnervingly quiet.
Lan Xiang was confused and exerted his All-seeing Eye to the maximum. Even as he went through every room on this floor, he could not see anything.
"But... everything is wrecked. That means ghost have been here. Where did they go?" Ye Qingle observed the immediate area.
She saw Lan Xiang squint his eyes. "Hmm? Did you see something?"
Lan Xiang caught a movement going towards the next floor. "I saw something, let's go upstairs!"
The two ran up the stairway and looked around. "There! It's the spider!"
The spider seemed to have sensed their approach and scurried away once more.
"It's running again, what do we do?" Ye Qingle bit her lip.
"The number of ghosts seemed to have decreased. Let's chase after it!"
Lan Xiang and Ye Qingle immediately started running.
The latter, who was used to chasing her opponents by stopping time and leisurely walking towards them, didn't have high stamina.
As such, after a few minutes of running, she started to pant.
"Qingle?" Lan Xiang halted himself and looked at Ye Qingle, who was breathing heavily without moving.
"I'm, I'm fine. Look forward; keep running!"
The spider took advantage of their brief pause and hid in a corner.
Lan Xiang bit his lip. "The spider... It seems to have gotten faster."
Ye Qingle clicked her tongue. "Of course it would get faster. Why do you think it ate that old ghost in the first floor?"
"That would mean, the reason why the second floor was so empty was because it ate every single ghost there?" Lan Xiang widened his eyes. He realized the severity of the situation.
"We need to eliminate the spider now, otherwise, even my Level 10 cultivation won't be enough to suppress it."
Ye Qingle nodded. She recuperated enough energy to continue walking, albeit at a slower pace.
"The spider-- it's right there, inside this room."
Lan Xiang used his All-seeing Eye.
The spider was waiting right behind the closed door. Should they have opened it without checking, they would have most likely gotten consumed.
He pointed his finger towards the keyhole of the knob and sent a wisp of flame through.
"...?" Ye Qingle got confused. He had been using the Wood element to exorcise the ghosts, how come he gets to use the Fire element as well?
On the other side, the spider was waiting with its mouth open. The wisp slowly went through the knob and went inside the spider's mouth.
"Now!"
The wisp grew large, expanding into a full-on fire!
An inhumane shriek came from the other side of the door. Lan Xiang opened it and started to prepare the Touch of Life.
"Qingle, please distract it!"
Ye Qingle nodded as she went into the room.
The spider was lying on its back as it flailed its eight hairy legs around. She winced at the sight; she'd hated spiders since birth, after all.
"While it's like this, I should make some preparations!" Ye Qingle scurried around the room.
Finally, she went back to the entrance.
As soon as the spider recovered, it lunged towards Ye Qingle, who was standing still.
"Hehe, dumbass!" Ye Qingle snapped her fingers.
