Fandral, Hogun, and Volstagg were still off on Vanaheim, but Sif, who wanted to see Thor again, had managed to return to Asgard. Like Queen Frigga, Hogun and Heimdall, Sif was born on Vanahein, but like the others now considered Asgard her home, and that was especially true for Sif who was hoping that Thor would one day notice her as a woman rather then just as a warrior.
She had returned to Asgard at the first opportunity specifically to see Thor again. "Welcome back, Lady Sif" Heimdall greeted her.
"Thank you, Heimdall. Has anything of interest happened while I was in Vanaheim?" Sif asked with curiosity.
"Interesting...Some may say that...Others may say it is something terrifying instead, though." Heimdall admitted to her "I'm not supposed to speak of it, but you'll hear about it from Thor, I am sure."
"That does not sound very promising" Sif noted with concern.
"I can't tell you specifics, but if no one does anything incredibly stupid it will be fine." Heimdall reassured her "The people that may have caused trouble have been warned, so as long as they obey the king no threat should materialize."
"Well, I should go find Thor then" Sif declared and took a deep breath, filling herself with resolve..
"Thor and Loki are currently not in the city."Heimdall answered to Sif, and recognized her confusion "It is related to the matter I am not permitted to discuss, Lady Sif."
Sif could only nod and accept that she would have to wait until they returned to the city and then ask Thor about it.

In the mountains, Loki sat with Nate looking over at Thor who was knocked unconscious again after his most recent spar with Hope. Loki deduced that in terms of skill in combat, Thor had an overwhelming advantage, but skill alone could not overcome the difference in attributes. Hope was more durable with her psionic barriers, she was much faster, and she even matched him in strength. Her speed and grace was what made her unbeatable.
"Your mentor is incredible. And I don't think that she is even getting serious yet." Loki noted to Nate, Though Thor had trained hard the past two months to go against Hope, he hadn't grown sufficiently to match her at all.
Nate nodded to Loki "Yeah, well, her clothes wont last if she goes all out." he reminded Loki and passed to Loki a drawing of the outfit that he wanted made for Hope "Speaking of which, what do you think of this design?"
"Well, it is certainly eye-catching." Loki said as he looked at the design "She'd certainly look very attractive in this."
"Can you get it made?" Nate asked.
"Yes, but we'll need to take her measurements." Loki pointed out to Nate "I'll see if we can bring Lady Sif along next time. She's due to return to Asgard soon."
That piece of news excited Nate, since among the Aesir she was the one he was most eager to meet, though he kept a good poker face. "Sure, that's a fine idea." Nate agreed.
"Can I ask you something?" Loki asked Nate, suddenly serious.
"You may ask. I can't guarantee that I'll answer, though." Nate agreed, wondering what Loki wanted to ask.
"Your mentor....seems unusual..." Loki noted to Nate "Is it more accurate to state that she serves you?"
Nate was surprised, he had not expected Loki to be so observant. He thought about denying it, but he wanted to change Loki's fate for the better "You could say that." he admitted "I don't know when or if her consciousness will wake up, creatures that can live for trillions of years can also sleep a long time as well. If not for my instructions, she would remain asleep like her mind. She's only going off of instinct and muscle-memory at this point to fight. Please don't tell anyone though. She's still immensely powerful even in this state, after all." he chose to go with this fabricated story since it seemed the most believable.
Loki had expected him to deny it, but was surprised to hear that Nate confirmed his speculation "So you are more powerful then you let on?"
Nate shook his head "I really am new to bond with the Phoenix Force and to begin sharing its power between Hope and I. I have just started trying to learn to control these powers. I can control her to this extent not due to being stronger, but due to the connection between us and her not offering any resistance. I do intend to surpass her, though."
"But you said she was the absolute pinnacle of what a Phoenix can be, that she had reached the absolute top of what was possible." Loki recalled to Nate.
"Indeed. When it comes to the power of the Phoenix, I can only ever hope to become her equal." Nate agreed matter-of-factly "Which is why I wont limit myself to just the Phoenix Force. Once I have the basics down better, I want to start learning magic. If, at the time, you are willing, I'll even happily have you as an instructor, Loki."
"You were nice to me because you want something from me?" Loki asked him.
"I know that Queen Frigga taught you. I could easily ask her and she would not turn me down, I'm sure." Nate pointed out to Loki "I ask you because I genuinely like you, and I empathize with you."
"What? I'm a Prince? Why would you need to empathize with me?" Loki tried to deny it.
"Your skill set is frowned upon in Asgard, viewed as dishonorable, because it's a warrior people that can be a bit stubborn. Even if they can't say anything because you are a prince, I know you feel the weight of their disapproval. You hide it well from most people, but I can see." Nate insisted to Loki "But the skills those people judge so unfairly, I eventually want to learn. I do not have such a limited way of thinking, though I am still years away from being ready to learn it.."
"Now that you understand my temporary weakness, would you object to having your memories of this particular conversation sealed away? The seal will naturally weaken in a few years and you'll remember everything we said here, but I'll be strong enough to better take care of myself then." Nate explained to Loki.
Understanding the situation, Loki nodded "I understand the situation. Do what you need to do."
Nate nodded and then gave Hope the instruction to create a seal strong enough to hide this conversation for about three years. To an Asgardian that wasn't very long, but to Nate those years were crucial.

When Thor and Loki returned to the castle, Sif jogged over to greet them "Prince Thor, Prince Loki, where have you been?" she asked with concern, since Thor looked as though he'd fought a terrible battle and lost. miserably. He was quite beat up and bruised all over.
"Oh, I was off sparring." Thor insisted to Sif nonchalantly "That girl is quite skilled. Even if the beatings are harsh, I am gaining a lot of valuable experience."
"Those are fathers words." Loki tattled to Sif.
"A girl. What girl?" Sif asked with shock.
"That's a story I can tell over dinner. For now, let us go eat." Thor insisted and started walking off with Loki and Sif following him.
