Jiang Tanmei stares at the look of dawning realization on Wu Yun's face, as he glances up at Concubine Mei, with an expression of profound aggravation. "And who is she?"
Wu Yun doesn't have the strength at the moment to complain about the note of judgement in his words. "Concubine Mei," he says, answering both Jiang Tanmei's question, and greeting the woman on the carriage with an almost imperceptible nod.
"I saw you looking out of our window that day, and I've been keeping close tabs on you since then," she says, neither threatening nor boastful, merely stating a fact. "Everyone is looking for you after an entire neighborhood saw a dragon burst through the Ji estate. You can stay hidden in the Yuan estate, until it's safe enough for you to leave."
That's very generous of her, which makes Wu Yun immediately suspicious. "Why are you willing to help us?"
I like Mei Yushi and Ni Binai so much, I could write a separate novel on their story.
Next chapter Lan Tian wakes up, and we get to hear what really went on while Shu Luan was on the helm.
Speaking of him, his fate is still uncertain...wonder what taking that elixir did to his 'conscience' ;)
