Capítulo 39: Chapter 39- Trial to decide the fate of the world

One month passed I'm the blink of an eye as Itachi stood up from his crouched position on the ground 'almost time for the main event, I was starting to get a bit bored after all' he thought as he brushed off the dust that had accumulated through the meditation. "Not too bad getting everything to Super Tier even having a few days to spare to work on fusion magic" he muttered since he now had every element as the same level.
This would bring him more benefits in the end instead of focusing solely on 1 element to bring it up.
After his little 'prank', it was no surprise that his sister won the Parthenon Fairy position, and she had taken control of the Parthenon, so he would at least have the support of them.
"Bro, can we spare?" he heard an excited voice behind him turning to see Kayda "No, I have the court trial tomorrow morning, and I need to prepare" he said apologetically. She seemed disappointed, but flew away *sigh 'Is it a blessing or a curse to be so carefree' he thought seeing her go. It was currently night out, but the darkness wasn't much of a problem for his vision. 'One of the perks of being a dragon I guess' he thought before he disappeared in a flash
He teleported to Ling Ling who was currently buried in a mountain of books "How's my little lawyer doing" he said playfully as she growled in response "As painful as it was, I have prepared our case even paying a few witnesses that were nearby to make stuff up" she said as she rubbed her forehead in a sleepy manner.
"Thank you" was all he said patting the tired girl on the head 'Although It probably won't matter anyway since it will most likely turn into a fight' he thought but chose not to say aloud. She began drifting off in her arm chair which he found adorable. He gently picked her up making his way over to her bedroom. Her head nudged his chest as she mumbled something incomprehensible something like "mmmph" with her eyes still closed.
He reached the bed pulling back the comforter before he set her down softly bringing the blanked up to her chin. 'She was normally full of fiery spirit, but right now... she looked so... delicate' he unconsciously thought pausing for a moment as he stood their in silence. Finally he leaned down feeling her warm breaths against his cheek as he lightly kissed her forehead "Goodnight" he said softly turning around
Behind his back, the sleeping girl's eyes opened as a content smile wreathed her face "Goodnight..." she softly whispered but he had already left the room

Itachi and the three girls made their way down the grand bridge leading into the Holy City. Passerby's looked at him with a mixture of fear and curiosity as he swaggered towards the city.
His arms were behind his head looking completely unconcerned as he took in the picturesque scene around him. 'As corrupt as they were, they truly chose a nice place to be' he thought taking in beautiful waterfalls and forests below and around which looked almost completely untouched by humankind. The city sat against an edge with a huge drop off with waterfalls to either side(See Discord for Picture).
There was only one way in and out which was the grand bridge spanning a few thousand meters which connected this place with the rest of the world. Naturally beside him stood Kayda, Xue'er, and Ling Ling who had all come to support him. He was quite hesitant to bring Ling Ling at first, but with him and Mu Ning Xue watching her over it should be fine, and after all, she was his lawyer.
At the gate stood a pissed off looking Ramiel surrounded by guards "Restrain him" he said wasting no time as they moved forward. "Hey y-" Itachi cut off Mu Ning Xue's aggrieved shout "It doesn't matter" he said stepping forward letting them clamp a special looking pair of handcuffs over him that seemed to try to drain his magic power.
It had a slight pull drawing his magic energy causing him to almost laugh. His control over his magic was better than most Forbidden mages, yet they thought they could lock down his magic with simple magic draining cuffs.
Obviously they still weren't taking him too seriously' he thought as he was led inside luckily they didn't try to do anything else leading him straight into the courtroom. Representatives from all the major organisations were here to vote on this matter while Chief Lawyer Ramiel was leading the proceedings. Behind him, in an ornate throne like seat, sat Michael sitting imposingly.
*Crack Ramiel pounded the mallet against the wood "Today we are here to bring an evil demon to justice" he said coldly looking around the room. On April 8th, he viciously slaughtered the Mu clan using his evil techniques. Do you admit to your crimes?" he spoke staring at the young man who looked back lazily
The first to speak up was Ling Ling "Why is this a matter of the Holy Court?"she said "It should be handled by the Chinese Magic association since the destruction of the Mu clan is an internal affair" she said questioningly as many around the room nodded in agreement.
A case such as this should have been handled by the respective regions government, yet it had been singled out by the Holy Court which made a few people suspicious.
He coldly harrumphed "A destructive demon using dark methods to kill is an international threat that must be taken care of" he said in response
She gritted her teeth in anger "A think you would know a lot more about it than us since you were the one experimenting to create it" she said dropping the bomb that shook the onlookers
Immediately he stood out of his chair angrily with his magic pressure bearing down on the young girl "You dare slander the Holy Court with your filthy lies? Lying in court will get you years in prison little girl" he said threateningly causing her to quiver a bit under the pressure as Itachi moved in front of her before she could get hurt by the magic pressure released "Now Now" he said smirking as he supported her "It wouldn't do so well for the Valorant Archangel Ramiel to threaten a defenseless young girl would it?" he said mockingly making him even angrier
"What evidence is there to such an absurd claim" he said finally calming down with a vein bulging in his forehead
Ling Ling standing behind him seemed to recover assured by Itachi's presence "I'm glad you asked" she said confidently signalling as the witness was brought inside. "May I present to you Jiang Yu Chinese military, member of the secret experiment to make the demon element. " she said as a nervous lady with short black hair came through the door before reaching the stand
'They were all supposed to be dead' he thought angrily before recovering "How is this woman supposedly connected with us" he said with derision staring down the woman who seemed to get even more nervous. Mustering up her courage, she looked up and began speaking clearly "I was a member of the group trying to create the demon element.
We were a branch of under Senior Tang Zong one of the Chinese generals that were working on this project. One day when I was carrying a few reports open to his office, I noticed the door was cracked open. Listening, I heard two people talking about progress on the demon element. Looking around the corner I was shocked to see none other than Archangel Sariel discussing it" she said pointing to a mature woman beside Ramiel who stood up at her words.
She had the appearance of a fairy, yet she gave off a deadly aura that seemed to surround her as she gazed down towards the defendant "I wouldn't participate in such a disgusting event. Your slanderous words deserve death" she spat looking at them in disgust "You even admit he does indeed possess this evil power by your previous words and yet he is still alive Why?" she said looking ready to kill as the aura around her fluctuated
The Chinese representative stood up "If this witness is being truthful, you owe us an explanation for this" he said standing up causing the angel glare sharply "A tiny pest dar-" she was interrupted by Ramiel raising his hand "By taking their side, you acknowledge that Sariel who righteously upholds justice as a representative of the Holy city, conducted cruel experiments to create the demon element. I advise you to think carefully before believing the words of the accomplices to a demon." he said with a threatening undertone
"Sir, we have already made a decision said another Chinese representative standing beside him with an unreadable face
"Good. So, each of the representatives of the organizations must choose a stone. Remember, the fate of a person is in your hands, as well as the future of the Holy City. I beg!" he said virtuously as if it was his duty to protect the world
They were not going to have some long drawn out trial. They needed to eliminate him as soon as possible even if it hurt their reputation.
11 stones. White and black.
Black is guilty, white is not.
Those present swarmed moving forward with their results.
Ramiel under his calm appearance was very nervous 'Black or White. Will they go against us? This decision will affect everyone involved including the reputation of the Holy Court'
The Old law code began pulling out the stones
"First one, White" he said as Ramiel cursed "Couldn't you have started with a black one?" he thought annoyed
"Second one.... White" he said as Ramiel grew even more annoyed "I wish I knew who was putting those stones' he thought looking around the room, but sadly the voting was anonymous.
"Third Stone... White" he said as Ramiel turned to look alarmed at Michael. If it wasn't for the gray hair, he would look like he was in his twenties with his youthful look. Michael only frowned deciding that the rest must be black
He was sure that they had at least 5 others on their side, so they must have just gotten unlucky.
"Fourth stone... White" Immediately the hall became very excited since many didn't expect the starting ones to all be white. The decision often becomes clear long before the final result, and right now it was looking heavily skewed.
Ramiel began to look even more tense as Michael's face turned dark
"The fifth stone, is black" hearing that, Ramiel's face thawed a little 'The rest of the stones will be black' he thought although he was still frightened at how many white there were. Michael similarily calmed down a bit, but he still gazed intensely watching the drawing with a scary look
"The sixth stone is... White" the law man said causing Ramiels smile to freeze "One more stone and he will be acquitted!' he thought panickedly as he began to breath heavily. The outcome of such an event would be horrifying
"The seventh stone..." the entire chamber went deathly silent in nervousness at the outcome. Black represented the solution of the Holy City. White didn't only represent Itachi, but also all those who were unhappy and wanted to oppose them.
The official's expression changed, his old eyelids hanging over his eyes suddenly lifted, showing dull pupils. The official's eyes lit up, he stared at this pebble!
He could not pronounce the word!
In previous times, the official loudly shouted the colors of the stones, but this time he hesitated.
The old official was trembling slightly.
- B ... white ...
In the end, the official spoke as an unprecedented event happened
White!
Innocent!
The seventh stone was white!
Six of the eleven stones were white!
Itachi was innocent!
The jury and representatives looked at each other with an expression of fear written across their face as they sat in silence. They shouldn't have been surprised at the outcome since they chose it, yet there was an unbearable tension in the room and everyone could sense something was wrong.
"Continue" at that moment, a cold voice was heard
"B-but the outcome is already clear" one of the advisors said nervously as Michael turned around "I said continue" he said in a voice devoid of emotion that caused a sense of dread
"E-Eight white" he said trembling as this eight stone was like a slap in the face to the Holy Court
"Ninth is white"
"Tenth is White"
"Eleventh is white" he finally said with white stones coming out in rapid fire. The one guilty stone came from the Holy Court which means all ten of the major worldwide associations that voted on this matter had went against the Holy Court.
They should have been happy at the outcome, but instead of looking happy they looked frightened. Meanwhile, Itachi wasn't celebrating either only watching the proceedings with a stony look. Neither Mu Ning Xue or Ling Ling looked to happy either leaving only Kayda who was more naive to be happy.
Around the world, many people were overjoyed at this outcome, yet the bleak atmosphere in the courtroom was devoid of this type of celebration. Their was only a cold tension that pressed down on everyone with an invisible pressure
"Why are you in such a mood? Are you scared?" Archangel Michael slowly walked into the middle of the Holy Chamber.
Representatives of influential organizations were silent, looking at the Archangel Michael, they were clearly afraid of him. With such an outcome of events, the archangels will not just let them go from the Holy City. Nevertheless, the influential organizations decided to choose white.
Itachi stood their calmly watching the faces of the representatives change. Of course they wouldn't vote for Itachi for a stupid reason like innocence. The circumstances of what had happened were irrelevant at this point.
In fact, he was nothing more than a pawn as a declaration of war against the Holy Court
Magical associations of five continents.
Union of hunters.
Parthenon.
Union of clans.
Trade union.
Educational association.
They all were influential structures of the magic community, and they had long been dissatisfied towards the Holy Court. Why would a proud organisation want to be controlled? They only needed a pretext and what better way was there than to do it at such a big event ruining the Holy Court's reputation.
A dark presence began to fill the room as some weaker people collapsed to the floor. Michael was angry and he watched the representatives coldly. These people were only representatives, even they did not know about such a result. Now their lives were directly dependent on the Holy City, which is unlikely to let them leave alive.
The fact Itachi was declared innocent had another side... The Holy Court is guilty
"Since you have come here to lay your white stones, then I, Archangel Michael, will not deceive your expectations," Michael suddenly began laughing out loud, but their was no humor in his voice as the representatives hurriedly began trying to appease him "no, no ,no, that was not our intentions" one said hastily putting his hands up
"If you are dissatisfied with the Holy City, then why would you use the power that we have given you? So it must be returned!" he said continuing to laugh except to those present it sounded like the sound of death
He stood in the center of the Holy Chamber, sixteen wings suddenly appeared behind him.
The sacred feathers lay in several layers on these beautiful wings that were spread wide. With these wings, Michael looked like a deity that no one could defy or else they would face punishment!
"A sixteen winged archangel was the most powerful type of angel in existence, yet they had no time to be impressed. Instead of an angel, to them he was currently a demon!
He simply waved his hand, and all the representatives were sent crashing into the far wall blood spraying across the room. A few tried to cast magic, but he only laughed snapping his fingers as it disappeared "you thought you could face me with that?" he coldly said as a flash of blinding light spread out from his hand
Shouts of agony were heard as their cultivation was directly ripped from their body leaving them as ordinary people. None of them were weak at least at the Super Tier, but in front of him they were like a defenseless infant. The surge of power sent court officials flying leaving many bleeding to death on the ground.
"Calm yourself Michael. They are like our children, we gave them an expensive thing, yet they took it for granted. All we do now is punish them, but their is no need to exterminate them completely" Ramiel said in a pacifying manner as Michael tried to calm down
"Probably, after all, we ourselves are to blame. We gave them too much. Even in this senseless court hearing, we decided to reckon with the opinion of the common people. As a result, these people began to clap their hands when the demon was found innocent.
We gave stones to organizations, after listening carefully to their opinion, and they declared war on us. We paid and never expected something in return, but now all these people turned on us like a malignant tumor that needs to be cut out" he said trying to calm down
Finally, he looked over to Itachi who was still holding Ling Ling while the other two stood behind him.
"You finally decided to rip off your mask?" Itachi said as the man walked closer
"She should be important to you yes?" he said gesturing to Ling Ling who huddled behind him with a frightened gaze. Itachi didn't make any sound only staring at him coldly as the man grew a cruel smile "It's all your fault... First I will kill her, then I will slowly pick you apart" he shouted in glee. The feathers behind his back seemed to shiver which Itachi took as a sign of pleasure at what he suggested.
An invisible force similar to his telekinesis attempted to grab onto Ling Ling, but Itachi only broke the cuffs as Michael felt like he punched a wall "You" he muttered before he began laughing again. He licked his lips as he stared at Itachi akin to a butcher watching a pig "This is going to be more fun than I thought" he said a bit madly.
"I needed a warm up before I discipline the rest of my foolish children" he said a golden glow surrounding him "Your Only Job Is To Die!"
