Capítulo 26: After the talk with the Hokage
Ren's mood was sour after leaving the Hokage's office. Someone wants to use underhanded methods? Don't they know that an assassin is the dirtiest person they could ever meet? Ren sighed as he calmed down. He scolded himself for being impulsive. He remembered Korosensei's teaching that an assassin must not show emotion openly, and must keep a cool and calm head at all times to process information.
From Korosensei's memories, he enjoyed his memories of him teaching his students a lot. His transformation from a cold blooded killer who became the world's powerful enemy, then became a teacher of a class of students with passion, teaching them not only his assassination skills, but also helping them to grow their character and break out of its shell and of course their studies. They might not be the brightest people in the school but they are willing to put in effort to prove the people who doubted them that they could also do it.
Ren walked towards the hospital and started to work. He was lazing around Orochimaru's room while reading books because there's no patient that needs his help at the moment. He was reading books about chakra and its application to the medical field. He read that if you have enough control of your chakra, your chakra could materialize into a scalpel. He was enjoying his time reading books when Orochimaru entered the room. Ren ignored Orochimaru and kept on reading books.
"How cold, my son." Orochimaru said and veins popped out of Ren's temple but he restrained himself because he knows that Orochimaru was messing with him.
"Lord Orochimaru, I'm going to take a leave after this week, I guess." Ren said which piqued Orochimaru's interest.
"Heh~ Why and how many days?" Orochimaru asked him.
"I've got some matters to attend to and I'll be gone for a week or two." Ren replied to Orochimaru.
"Sure. The war's pretty much over anyways." Orpchimaru nonchalantly agreed and Ren continued reading the book.
Ren finished his work and left to eat dinner at Ichiraku, Yoruichi didn't come with him to eat. He would chat with Teuchi about work. He's always the last customer anyway. He bought food from roadside stalls for Yoruichi's dinner as Teuchi isn't providing any take outs.
When he returned home, he found Yoruichi sleeping on the couch. Seeing her tired state, he picked her up and brought her to her room. He then went to have a cold bath to cool his body down and slept.
When Ren woke up, he could already tell that Yoruichi's on top of him. He didn't know if Yoruichi's sleepwalking or not but he is already used to it.
When he was about to move Yoruichi, she rubbed her eyes and woke up. She stared at Ren before yawning.
"Yo." Yoruichi greeted Ren and received a hand chop on her head.
"I brought you to your room so I could sleep peacefully and before I could even open my eyes you're weight is already weighing on me." Ren said.
"Can't help it, its warm in your bed." Yoruichi replied making Ren confused.
"You wouldn't get it, you're not a cat." Yoruichi had a proud look on her face and another hand chop was sent on her way which she blocked with her hand.
"Anyway, the skewers I bought last night should still be edible if I heat it up." Ren said as he stood up and went to the kitchen. He reheated the skewers and called Yoruichi to eat.
After eating, Yoruichi started talking about what she found out on her patrol.
"I've found something pretty interesting. I'm pretty sure you'll be surprised too. I've read something from the root archives, you know, Danzo's HQ. Turns out that Kushina has something like a beast inside her, and its a pretty strong one too. I think the records said it was called a tailed beast and their strength derives on how many tails they've got. Kushina has the strongest tailed beast, the nine-tailed fox." Yoruichi said which indeed surprised Ren. If Yoruichi hadn't told him about it, he wouldn't know at all, unless Kushina or Minato told him.
"Interesting indeed." Ren was about to say that it has nothing to do with him but he remembered that he was living beside her house, an estate with ridiculous barrier that prevents outsider without permission.
"I think they are the reason why those from root are monitoring this estate." Yoruichi said but Ren shook his head.
"No. They had also set their eyes on me. It was bound to happen when I became the head surgeon that fast." Ren said while Yoruichi looked at him while blinking her eyes.
"Did you cause trouble already?" Her eyes were sparkling. Lately she was bored because she's been searching for information. Maybe with Ren, she could have fun once in a while.
"Not really, someone wants to pull me into their faction forcefully." Ren said and Yoruichi's eyes were shining like stars.
"So? What're you gonna do?" She asked Ren.
"Nothing. We need to keep it low. I'm not interested in joining any faction in politics. I'm just a head surgeon." Ren said making Yoruichi do an eye-roll.
"Just a head surgeon my ass." Yoruichi said making Ren chuckle.
After eating breakfast, Ren continued on his usual routine as he went out and started his morning jog. As usual, he saw the two weird people running at full speed and the people kept on showing their disdain on the two. He thought of asking Kushina or Minato later. They are the only one he saw running while he was jogging so he was curious about it.
He went back and cleaned up the dishes before taking a bath. He organized his thoughts with meditation before wearing his uniform.
When he went out of the house, he encountered Minato and Kushina.
"Yo, going to work?" Minato asked.
"Yeap. Another day of toiling in the hospital." Ren said. He was curious if Minato knows what happened yesterday, did he know it or haven't heard of it yet. If Kushina really holds a strong entity then Minato is surely someone of status.
"Haha~! Looks like you're doing pretty good this days." Minato said making Ren's face turned solemn. Of course the duo noticed this.
"Is something wrong?" Kushina asked a little worried.
"Nothing. Just work politics. I better go, Lord Orochimaru's waiting." Ren said and the duo understood what Ren meant. For someone like Ren who didn't have any background, he would be forced to join a faction. Minato wanted to know more about this. He's been busy lately and remembered that the Hokage's calling for him today.
"So its about Ren huh." Minato said with a low voice.
"What about it?" Kushina asked.
"The hokage's calling for me. Maybe its about Ren. Maybe someone is forcing Ren to join a faction but they can't forcefully kick Ren out of his position due to his skills. That's why they want to force him. Anyway I'll learn more about it after hearing from the hokage." Minato said as he looked at Ren who was about to leave the gate.
"*Sigh* A talent finally appeared in the medical area and they already want to monopolize him for themselves." Kushina said as he felt a little angry. Minato hugged her and patted her back, causing her to calm down.
